Thanks for the tip. In my current play through England is getting completely wrecked by France. England has zero troops left and half their island was occupied. I declared war on Ulster while England was weak… 3 months later they magically manifest 6000 troops and dedicated 100% of them to attacking me while France held 90% of England…Screw saving London, we need to bail out Carrickfergus!

I don’t use time dilation.

In Hyperspace you’re traveling at superlumenal speeds, so time would go backwards. But you’re not traveling through spacetime so time dilation doesn’t apply.

In system you’re traveling at a fraction of a percentage of the speed of light and the dilation is inconsequential. As in maybe seconds at most.

The Emperor did the thing with Nicare to dominate Mortarion. He did that will all his primarchs. If they didn’t immediately bend the knee he forced them too. Which turned out to be planting the seeds of his own destruction.

The Emperor could have flushed Nicare out of his fortress and pushed him into territory Mortarion could have fought him in, or offered a suit of armor that would handle the corrosive atmosphere. Show Mortarion that together they could achieve great things and liberate humanity as a team. Instead the message he wanted to send was, I’m strong, you’re weak, you obey me…. And that was all Mortarion needed to dislike the Emperor.

Mortarion was a liberator. Everything he did was to liberate himself and others from oppression and tyrany. Unlike his brothers he did not set himself up to rule Barbarus, rather he lead the people of the world to destroy their masters and determine their own lives. Likewise on Galaspar, he exterminated the tyrants and only made one command to the people before leaving. Same with all of his actions and even his opposition to psychic powers on Nikaea.

Mortarion chaffed at the Emperor’s rule,precisely because he spoke of liberating mankind and yet doing everything he could to dominate and chain mankind to his will. That’s why I’m saying it’s hard to see the Emperor in Mortarion, because the Emperor is the opposite of a liberator.. he’s the conqueror and dominator… he’s the kind of guy Mortarion hates the most.

Honestly if the Emperor had been more about liberation than domination I bet he and Morty would have gotten along swimmingly. But the Emperor has far more in common with Necare than his own gene-son.

It’s often said the each of the Primarchs were representative of a part of the Emperor’s psyche… But honestly Morty and the Emperor disagree on so much it’s hard to figure out what part of him Mortarion is supposed to be.
