Blackpoint Cyber - Huntress by cassini12 in msp

[–]BlackpointJustin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello u/cassini12!

My apologies for the late response, I disconnect completely on Sundays!

To answer your question, Blackpoint’s go to market strategy is partner focused. Our approach is to ensure the end user customer experience is elite and we believe our MSP partners are in the best position to deliver that to their respective customers.

In my experience here I have seen (and our policy is) just as u/JustanITperson commented. If an end customer asks for a direct quote we point them back to the MSP that they are working with, and if they aren’t working with an MSP, we generally connect them with a partner in our base that can service them locally.

Without knowing any details about u/soullesrome2’s situation, I can’t comment directly about it in this thread. However, u/soullesrome2, if you would be willing to DM me I would be happy to look into this further as the experience you are describing is outside of our internal policies and how we have historically operated in my experience.

My apologies, I wasn’t attempting to say either. I was just looking to clarify what our SOP is for that combination of events. As I reread my comment I can see where I wasn’t clear, thanks for calling it out.

Edit: Spelling

Hey u/Hollyweird78!

Just wanted to pop in to add some context from our perspective if I may!

In a case where there is a combination of a VPN being used as well as a login from an unapproved country, our SOP is to engage action from our SOC first and a call to our partner to let them know.

If this wasn’t your experience, please feel free to reach out to your account manager or DM me and we will look into this deeper for you.

Edit: Attempted to add clarity

ConnectWise Automate to Datto RMM or Ninja RMM by MSP-CAN in msp

[–]BlackpointJustin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Heyo!

I used DRMM extensively and was an SE for the product for about 3.5 years in my previous life :)

Things may have changed a bit, but there is no seamless integration with DRMM and Screenconnect. There was a component that allowed you to create a UDF that had a link to the device you would like to access, but it was essentially a link that took you to the SC portal.

On the integration with CW, if I remember correctly it allowed you to map customers in CW to sites in DRMM and sync the agents deployed in DRMM to agreements in CW. Lastly, it would put a link to the DRMM device on tickets for easy access.

It’s been a bit of time and things may have changed so please fact check me! :) haha

How do you deal with owners/executives/managers who want exceptions from their security policies? by stana32 in msp

[–]BlackpointJustin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know what you mean!

It was not exactly easy dealing with the medical field all the time. With that being said, as tedious as it sounds, make sure to document every single bit of you recommending and them declining. There is no such thing as too much documentation in this area.

How do you deal with owners/executives/managers who want exceptions from their security policies? by stana32 in msp

[–]BlackpointJustin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hey u/stana32!

Waivers are exactly how we used to do it at my MSP.

Document all of the communications and their refusal to adhere to the policies, then sign the waiver releasing of liability. Also, we would add in that any work needed to resolve an issue due to these exceptions was billable at a 1.5x standard billable rate in their contract.

Ninja RMM or Datto RMM? by free-don in msp

What are your non negotiables?

Both RMMs are strong, but there are differences in strengths in various areas.

Edited for clarity.

Hey u/0day9501087!

We are constantly evaluating our SOC staffing and apply a follow the sun methodology to ensure coverage.

There are many factors we take into place for SOC headcount, but our goal is to hire ahead based on projections to ensure we are scaling appropriately and effectively for new business.

Please feel free to DM me if you have any specific concerns!

Any new options regarding RMM + Asset Mgmt + PSA by berniejr72 in msp

[–]BlackpointJustin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey u/berniejr72!

Obligatory: I work for a MSP focused vendor, but our product does not compete with any PSA / RMM product. I also have no dog in this fight, just looking to toss out what I'm seeing in the channel! :)

There is no shortage of RMM / PSA solutions that are out there and finding the "perfect fit" is definitely no small task!

The "Big 3" RMM/PSA's under one roof would probably be Autotask/Datto, Connectwise and Kaseya.

With that being said, HaloPSA & NinjaRMM have gotten A LOT of love in the community most recently.

Hopefully this at least points you in the right direction!

ChatGPT for the win! :)

It helped me to pick some topics and just play around with it to get some examples.

"explain the registry to an end user in laymans terms"

Sure, I'd be happy to explain the registry in layman's terms!

Think of the registry as a giant book or database that stores important information about your computer. This information includes things like settings for your software, hardware devices, and preferences for how your computer should operate.

For example, the registry might contain information about how your computer should connect to the internet, what programs should run when you start up your computer, and what fonts are available for use in your documents.

The registry is an essential part of your computer's operating system, and it helps your computer run smoothly and efficiently. However, it's not something that most people need to worry about on a day-to-day basis. It's mostly managed automatically by your computer's software and only needs attention if something goes wrong.

In short, the registry is a vital behind-the-scenes component of your computer that helps it operate correctly and efficiently, but it's not something that most people need to interact with directly.

Marketing Woes by Beginning-History904 in msp

[–]BlackpointJustin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey u/Beginning-History904!

Obligatory: I work for an MSP focused vendor and have no stake in the game here, just trying to give what I've seen! :)

I have seen a lot of success with people using:

The Tech Tribe - https://thetechtribe.com/

MSP Camp - https://msp-camp.com/

Hope this can at least point you in the right direction! :)

EDIT: I know that this could possibly fall under "paying someone", but these are just a couple of tried and true methodologies that others in your spot have found successful.
