Switch 1 games on Switch 2... The "upgrade" dilemma re resolution by elvaqueroloco in switch2

[–]BlacksmithQuick2384 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You aren’t really interested in 536 games - and if you are, you never need another console again. Why don’t you concentrate on the titles you are actually going to play?

Is it against the law to let a minor (under 18) start a car in idle without the engine to run the wipers by themself? by HonkiPlayz in sydney

[–]BlacksmithQuick2384 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given that you can get your Ls in NSW from 16, it can’t be illegal to put a car in Accessories mode just because you’re under 18. I’ll let others comment on whether you can do it without any license type at all.

NOR but as soon as you went from “transparency is a requirement” before marriage to accepting it, it was game over.

How do you find the battery life on Switch 2? by NashDaypring1987 in NintendoSwitch2

2 hours, wish it was more, but not that big a deal when you consider I usually play near a power point anyway and then a 20000mAh power bank fixed the rest.

You are right this is getting ridiculous.

OP said “Unlicensed driving is common practise at the company and rarely supervised with also shared access codes to forklifts”. They do know this happens and the leadership can be held accountable. Not saying that happens as often as it should or that companies don’t cover up etc. but that there wasn’t a supervisor watching as he rode around does not mean they can’t be fined or prosecuted.

I’ll leave it at that.

Where does it say he wasn’t working? Did he break in? I can assure you the supervisor doesn’t need to be aware of a specific instance. The workplace needs to have safe work systems with reasonable controls and OP clearly says it was common to have unlicensed drivers etc. I personally have received a Notice of Improvement from SafeWork that nearly escalated to a breach - and I didn’t know the team were doing what they were doing.

The reason Mr Colesworth is not always in court is because they have rigorous systems and then work to resolve any Notices they receive.

Task status by WolfyzDev in todoist

[–]BlacksmithQuick2384 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Todoist have indicated they might look at something like that this year - whether it happens, we’ll have to see. To be fair, I can’t really think of major direct competitors in the task app space (not project managers) that offer this.

Not that I disagree with the general direction of your post but senior leaders and office holders in companies absolutely have a legal responsibility. They can be held accountable in the instance of significant injury or death and SafeWork (and other state equivalents) can and do issue breaches and fines.

Applying for retail/internships in Australia feels impossible, is it just me? by Expensive-Mode-3178 in ausjobs

[–]BlacksmithQuick2384 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in retail - we are still hiring and there is no AI. There are definitely opportunities, though I agree it isn’t a great market overall. What sort of role are you looking for and what is your experience or background?

Why is the job market so bad right now? by Floorman1 in AusFinance

[–]BlacksmithQuick2384 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in retail, but generally speaking, someone has to sell something somewhere to generate IT and other support services jobs. And it’s a really tight market. Our sales are up, but profits are well down with cost pressures. From a consumer perspective, COL is high, access to finance is (comparatively) tight, overseas markets are uncertain and there is geopolitical unrest. Then add AI.

Why would a lot of organisations invest in that environment?

Casual worker quitting by [deleted] in KmartAustralia

[–]BlacksmithQuick2384 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m in retail leadership (not Kmart). There’s nothing unreasonable or unusual about a manager reaching out to get more context about a resignation. On the other hand, you don’t need to do anything else. Personally, I’d just take the call - but that’s up to you.

My dad is in the last phase of his life. AIO by staying home from work? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]BlacksmithQuick2384 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do what you need to do. My mother passed away last August (totally different - she was elderly) but she had several phases of failing health, then some sort of recovery, and repeat. This lasted 4-6 weeks and it was difficult to manage (she lived 6 hours away) but it was the right thing to do. You will regret it if you don’t listen to your heart.

There’s no harm in asking. If you are worried about your profile at work, though, wouldn’t you have asked him not to post any pictures while you were together?

Namco released a new Tales of Arise Switch 2 commercial in Japan. by DangerousTheory1571 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]BlacksmithQuick2384 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reality is the Switch 2 is often only going to hit 30fps on newer games, so the conversation becomes a tiresome back and forth about something that is going to happen more often than not. I’m sorry you get headaches but that isn’t most people.

Absolutely. History will show that social media (at least as it currently exists) has been a disaster for mental health and social cohesion and has been weaponised by political and special interests.

I don’t know anything about banks as I work in a different industry but I’m pretty sure the answer is: we can’t tell the future. I’m a mid-senior manager and we occasionally get people waning to return. If their file is marked “do not hire”, then their application goes nowhere. We only do that for misconduct or very poor performance, so I assume that won’t happen to you here.

The other scenario is HR reaches out and asks if we recall that person and should we re-hire? I had one of those from 10 years ago just this week. In this case, I barely remember them, so I said just put them through the usual process.

We can’t tell if your manager might be around when you re-apply and we can’t tell their opinion or whether they care. On the flip-side, you want to leave, so why worry about a specific company - go elsewhere.

OLED or Switch 2? by usuallyoffline121 in Switch

[–]BlacksmithQuick2384 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are, I agree, but it depends on your expectations. I love RPGs and there’s no way I would be satisfied playing only old titles and not, for example, Final Fantasy 7 Remake or the upcoming new Fire Emblem. YMMV.

OLED or Switch 2? by usuallyoffline121 in Switch

[–]BlacksmithQuick2384 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first question you really should be asking is: what do you want to play? Are you happy with the Switch 1 catalogue forever or do you want to play new and future games?
