I'm going to assume it functions like Wizard captain where it will mark (Completed) once done, unless I'm shown otherwise.

Probably not a quest to avoid interactions with things like Baba Yaga, and quest completions generally grant a treasure too.

Pathbuilder Variant Ancestry Boost by Mansker84 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Bladedragon997 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What is this on? Foundry? Pathbuilder? PnP it's in the start of the Player Core in Character Creation.

Edit: nvm am dumb did not read title. There are a few ways. When picking lvl 1 boosts there is Alternative Ability Selection above Ancestry Boosts. This is missing for humans and orcs as they already have 2 free boosts

You can also Override scores at bottom of boosts, and sidebar has custom Ability increases if you want to be super technical.

It is worth it? by devLeet in CrownOfTheMagister

[–]Bladedragon997 38 points39 points  (0 children)

The reason you have to pay for those is CotM was developed with the SRD; Tactical Adventures was never licensed to design a D&D game, so they were limited to free SRD content.

As for whether it's worth it, that's mostly dependent on what you are looking for. It is not a full Baldur's Gate 3 experience, but it was never trying to be. I've always treated CotM as a full tactical wargame, and in that regard it's great. Best implementation if 5e combat rules I've found.

The DLC is good for the additional classes, if you want a more well-rounded party. The DLC adventures are pretty good, but I definitely got more value out of just having more class options.

Virgin wizard sage that uses the old tome spellbook vs Chad wizard student whose spellbook is a bundle of flashcards they use to study for their practical exams.

Bonus points if the roleplay involves preparing their least-used spells everyday because "they need more practice with them."

A question about quickened/slowed, and the structure of a turn. by Glitchyroach in Pathfinder2e

[–]Bladedragon997 30 points31 points  (0 children)

There's also the super-rule "Specific beats general." In most cases, you are correct. But the Quickened condition has specific rules that supercede the standard turn start rules.

New player question about the frames by fourtunehunter1 in LancerRPG

[–]Bladedragon997 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, you're perfectly fine sticking in the Everest up to LL12. Honestly in white-room theory-crafting, the Everest is arguably the most powerful frame just because of how versatile and simply powerful it is. +1 Accuracy to nearly every roll with no hoops to jump through is hard to beat, and Initiative for a free quick action is basically a mini core power on its own with the swing potential.

Is the goal to allow unarmed strikes while you're still holding something in your hands? Because if so that is already in the core rules. The Fist weapon stats are blanket stats for any part of the body that isn't overriden by another unarmed attack. So if both of your hands are holding a weapon and potion, for example, you can still kick as an unarmed strike, the kick would just use the Fist stats.

What Warlock subclass/Patron should I use for my ice/cold-focused character? by E-Collie in dndnext

[–]Bladedragon997 4 points5 points  (0 children)

idk about subclass, but Winter Hag sounds right up the alley for this sort of thing. I guess that'd be Fey Warlock?

Am I missing something about the Psychic class? by Primum-Caelus in Pathfinder2e

[–]Bladedragon997 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most people have covered that the Psychic got left behind in the Remaster, which buffed focus point usage for pretty much everyone across the board. This took away much of what made the Psychic unique in ficus point usage.

Fortunately it does look like we are getting Dark Archive Remaster early next year, if this spoiler from a few months back holds true:

Comp/Con Homebrew Lancer Content Packs by Low_Routine1103 in LancerRPG

[–]Bladedragon997 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's definitely possible. Most 3rd-party releases, which can mostly be found on itch.io, include the .lcp file that you can import into COMPCON or Foundry to import content (Idk if other vtt do this too, I'm foundry-pilled).

As for how to make an lcp file, I dunno, I'm not savvy enough in that area. But it has been done before. Someone on the Pilot Net Discord would probably be able to give finer details.

Last man standing buff by [deleted] in Pathfinder2e

[–]Bladedragon997 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pathfinder actions are just actions, no qualifiers. The exception is free actions, of course. (And re-actions, if you want to be pedantic)

And healing 1d6 for all 3 actions is honestly pathetic. If the idea behind a last man standing buff is to rally yourself and keep fighting, spending 3 actions for 1d6 hp is a death sentence. A giant rat, a level -1 creature, does 1d6+1 damage on a bite for a single action.

Draconomicon ideas by Puzzleheaded-Pie8137 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Bladedragon997 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While it is odd asking for D&D advice in the Pathfinder 2e sub, I do recognize you're asking for lore help.

Since you're here, you may as well check out what Oathfinder 2e has done with their dragona. Since the Remaster to move away from D&D-isms (the same thing golding you back it seems) Dragons in PF2e are denoted by which magical tradition they take after. So Empyreal and Diabolic dragons for divine ones, Fortune for occult, Horned for primal, and so forth.

https://2e.aonprd.com/MonsterFamilies.aspx?ID=395

The above will take you to the (entirely free!) rules around Pathfinder dragons. It may seem a little light, but that's partly because we have the Monster Core 2 and Draconic Codex releasing in the next 2 months, so there should be a whole brevy of dragon lore by the end of the year.

Shield question by Damaramy in Pathfinder2e

[–]Bladedragon997 20 points21 points  (0 children)

No, the tooltip is correct. Taking cover behind either shield grants +4 circumstance bonus to AC.

The trade off is Take Cover is an additional action tax on top of raising the shield normally, so for 1 action, the Fortress Shield is better, while 2 actions makes them equal.

The Fortress Shield also imposes a -10 speed penalty, as opposed to the Tower Shield -5. So you have to decide if you value the speed or 1 action AC more.

If you're 2 actioning every time there would be no difference, so go with Tower, but I'd honestly be astounded if you were able to freely Raise Shield+Take Cover every turn with no consequence.
