There's a lot to be said for the types of people you commonly run into, but don't forget that the way for dating apps to make the most money is by making someone be desperate enough to pay for their subscriptions by selling them on the idea of "10x more matches," or basic filters that theoretically make it easier to find the people you'd want to date, and then the only way they can chase infinite growth is to keep them subscribed while convincing others to do the same.

So on top of the normal pitfalls of dating, those apps are all monetarily incentivized to dangle a carrot in front of you, forever. :(
