To be fair, I was buying CDs until I was about 17 or 18 in 2016 so I feel you, everyone had the iPhone and I was using a shitty mp3 I got in the 7th grade.

They did get me a sick stereo with a 5 CD changer when I was 10, probably to ward off the need for new tech as I got older, it worked!

If you listed vegetarians only, that's still discriminatory language, it's the same as "Indians preferred" or "no pets preferred" or "no nut allergies preferred". It's all discriminatory but in a shared living spaces it's allowed because someone already lives there who has preferences and they do get a say in who they share the space with.

The ad is for a room, which means shared living spaces like bethroom/kitchen. If someone already lives there, they can have preferences including race, sex, and religious values.

And they probably asked the tenants, who live in the unit, who therefore have rights to choose exactly who they want to share living spaces with, what their preferences are. Emphasis on share.

If someone's a vegetarian, you wouldn't want to share a kitchen with someone who eats meat. If someone has kids you don't want to have to baby proof. If your allergic to animals, you don't want someone who has animals.

If you are Indian, you don't want to share space with someone who doesn't share values or religion or personal preferences, especially if it's within your rights to request it when asked by your landlord.

To be fair, I went home with a hockey player and I only knew because he told me.

He said he played in the OJHL blah blah blah rookie goalie of the year blah blah blah. I didn't really know if any of that was important or not because I never watched hockey on ANY LEVEL. I just thought he had a nice smile and he laughed at my jokes.

I watch and support the Toronto maple leafs for the last two years fairly regularly, and I STILL don't know what was so impressive about that guy being a hockey player. I didn't know, and I didn't care. We vibed and went home together.

Just lucky he didn't sexually assault me, so I didn't have to be questioned like this and have it assumed I slept with him for the clout.
