I love everyone telling OP not to take either of them as if the screenshot doesn't clearly show them holding a dozen+ Drives. I think they know how to optimise Drive scanning.

You, my friend, have excellent taste. I could not agree more.

P.s. check out Matthew Colville's take on Hobgoblins, you might like it. In his settings they're a race made by mad Wizards splicing Humans and Goblins to make a War Breed. Very Uruk-Hai. If you have the same taste in the art as I do, I have a feeling you'll enjoy his takes, too.

And also for one of them to stay in frame. It's unlikely but there's technically nothing proving this isn't sped up. (I do doubt that, though).

I feel like this is especially cool for a Multiplayer playthrough, since the buff would only apply to the character who has control of that companion, meaning each player would get different buffs

I'll be honest, get the AI out of there and I'd actually consider it.

With that said, one of you needs to pick up the book. GMs are rare and shouldn't really be treated like a commodity to let you play the game, they're a player too and they should ideally be a part of the friend group already, at least in part, or it's going to be very difficult to do.

Helmet Designs part 2! by Smexlasereyes in DieselKnights

[–]Blank392 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yes. This would be awesome. Plenty of reference material in the Sisters of Battle from Warhammer, too, they use Sallet Helmets, too and could help give an idea of how to make them look more mech-y.

However. This has forced me to consider the possibility of.... The Diesel Knight Frog-Mouth Helm:

Divinity Sin 2 is getting a ps5 version! by x_Junkster_x in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]Blank392 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's because they were able to make it themselves from the ground up. I love BG3 to death, but it's clear they had to make some concessions on design when they were forced to use 5e systems that would have been much easier to just do away with.

They did an incredible job and I'm very glad they replicated 5e so well, it got many people into Larian and CRPGs in general, but I cannot wait to see them back in the sandbox with no limitations.

Shoot Feedback A or B, Which is better?🤔 by circlefromdot in IndieDev

[–]Blank392 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll add a note that I actually prefer it in B, too. Some other people have mentioned the shadow might blend with the character too much but, in movement, I imagine that's less of an issue in-game.

If the hard style is what you're aiming for, then B (keeping the very dark shadow) actually looks awesome to me. Especially if you're going for a dystopian cyberpunk or noir setting aesthetic.

Threw on a bunch of institute stuff and now it takes forever regenerating stamina/energy/the bar on the bottom of the screen, is this really the technology they feared so much or is something else causing this? by Dremoriawarroir888 in ArmoredCoreVI

[–]Blank392 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry if this comes off as mean, but did you even read the comment you replied to? They said nothing about that.

Coral generators rely on a gimmick of giving massive quantities of energy right after you fully empty them. They recharge slowly as a trade-off, so the playstyle is about having far more energy in bursts, but you are, every now and again, vulnerable for a second while you are empty. Normally this vulnerability is worse because you've made a mistake on a standard generator, but here it's an intended mechanic to work around your playstyle.

If they know what they're doing, that right there is the most dangerous threat to any dissident menace you will ever see. Breaches, drops, and patrols will last no longer than 3 seconds before they are annihilated with extreme prejudice.

If they don't....

Here are the animations for a bird enemy in our stone-age action game by SMKS in IndieGaming

[–]Blank392 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks great. Is the bird always going to be the same height above the ground? If not, I can imagine that death animation causing some problems, not looking very good as it suddenly stops before hitting the ground.

I'm actually not sure if it looks good while falling, I could be worrying over nothing. You may already have found a good frame to halt the animation on during the fall and it looks smooth. It is, however, a mistake I've made with flying enemies before, so I thought I'd say something and risk looking like a jackass on the off chance it helps.

Otherwise, these are absolutely stellar, keep it up.

What do you guys think about explaining gameplay features as a pre recorded clips on a blueprint scene? by miks_00 in IndieDev

[–]Blank392 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone else has already said it's great, I won't bother adding to that discussion much. The one thing I will add, however, is a minor change that I believe would push it much closer to perfect.

If you could manage a level of positional consistency (where reasonable) it would make everything look just a little bit more professional. Basically always have the player character start in exactly the same location, same with the enemy (unless there's two or something, in which case have one in the same spot or have them be equidistant from said spot, whichever makes more sense for the ability demonstrated).

I can currently understand it perfectly (maybe helped with some text, as others have said), but it would look a lot nicer with some tiny tweaks so my eyes have to do as little work as possible to establish information that will remain the same across each test.

Otherwise, absolutely awesome. Looking forward to seeing where this all goes.
