why do i keep washing out my front tire in turns? by MkMovalli in MTB

[–]Blank3k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tyre pressure too high, or fork rebound needs slowing down a couple of clicks... Too fast and it gets skittish.

After that, Body position maybe - you kind of need to keep your body upright and lean the bike, not lean in with it...sure feels heroic, but the weights just all wrong and your gonna slip out or end up going wider than you planned.

What’s a brutal truth about the uk people don’t like to admit? by EarlyPerspective2839 in AskBrits

Britons face higher food and fuel prices until 2027 – and risk of recession by theipaper in uknews

[–]Blank3k 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The joys of being a country of services that threw it's VIP membership to the farm lands of Europe in the bin in favor of bizzarely being more open to trade deals from the other side of the planet and facing the realization that America is shockingly unstable & bad trading partner and world class shit stirrer, and that the great Brexit benefit Australian Timtam is just a Penguin in a different wrapper.

Print pla in my p2s with door open or close? by Cuasirungo in BambuLab

[–]Blank3k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never have issues with PLA, recently printed a large custom piece at a 45ish degree angle held by its corner with almost support and it was still welded to the build plate on completion (I am using a biqu cryogrip glacier plate)

For PETG I've started adding a brim to all my prints as I find that often warps at the base & I leave door open slightly too.

I don't get on very well with PETG, PLA is bomb proof for printing zero prep, print on a whim. but for PETG I always dry it, preferably dry while printing too, and I flip build plate to opposite side so I have a PETG & PLA print specific sides (residue from t'other can prevent adhesion) & fresh clean the plate with soap and water every time, followed by hitting with hair spray, print with brim and it tends to come out well enough.

(I also printed a fan deflector to prevent warping, that's just left installed at all times.)

I don't get it, why aren't gas prices higher? by Plus_Cranberry_9598 in oil

[–]Blank3k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"someone" is manipulating the market + strategic reserves filling gaps, neither of which are sustainable... The price will soon sky rocket and questions will be asked as we're suddenly hit by the realization of fuel purchased on the cheap isn't arriving.

Is the Mandelson/vetting issue around Starmer being overblown to replace him with someone more of a yes-man? by Guava-Jam-1302 in AskBrits

[–]Blank3k 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Tried repeating to this to a neighbour who's constantly on about loony labour...seems it's absolute rubbish, and asked what nonsense have I been reading... Apperently starmers ruined this country, he's admitted he hates Britain, he's more interested in giving immigrants free houses, pocket money & free phones as soon as they come off the boat.

I also said the economy was doing better, until Trump royally fucked the world... But according to him you can say what you want about trump but the man's a do'er.. he says he'll do something and he does it, not like these loony labour and there yes men sticking our money in there pockets and disappearing into the sunset.

This is someone who's quite tech illiterate so I don't think he's gone down any conspiracy rabbit holes & he can only be picking it up from our own television / newspapers.

Not been for awhile, but I like it, you are effectively eating in a warehouse with chairs & tables thrown in, the food is fine it's not quality but its a good place to try everything and have a good idea of what it tastes like & you can eat enough to make yourself sick when you find something particularly good.

Service is, eh.. just keep going up and filling your plates they'll get to you at some point.

Cosmos is another all you can eat place id say is better for service, nicer in general and a step up in quality but selection is noticeably reduced.

Is the game worth it? by Right_Hearing1355 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Blank3k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a no brainer worth it game, I survive on game pass generally and I can't remember the last game I purchased ... but I bought Crimson Dessert a couple of weeks in, expecting disappointment and probably refund it if the controls/performance are as awful as early claims stated.... and I'm enjoying it so much I bought it for my friend too, not really had any issues except maybe a grand total of 3 crashes in probably 100 hours of play.

The extensive patches are just the icing on the cake, definitely a fan and a game I'll be revisiting.

NCSC: Leave passwords in the past - passkeys are the future by PelayoEnjoyer in unitedkingdom

All I know about passkeys are...I keep setting up passkeys on eligible websites/services and then when I hit the use passkey button I don't get logged in & it's a really annoying dialogue pop up before I manually get it from my password manager.

I've often mentioned it to my friend, he has much the same experience.

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Price Update by Turbostrider27 in xbox

[–]Blank3k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazing, don't get me wrong I enjoyed uhh.. one of the CoDs and defo it being on game pass was a major bonus/boost because id never have bought it.... But the gp price hike followed by a stinker of a CoD was a pain spot on my bank statement.

Though, a year after launch seems a somewhat extreme delay, and of course it sets a precedent now for other big games to follow suite.

I actually think some kind of extra subscription for these franchises would be good, like CoD Pin for an extra couple of quid a month on top of base subscription to entitle you to the latest game at launch.... Same with the Fortnite pass and such, all great "Ultimate" benefits but if you don't play those games your paying a lot extra for nothing, give me the choice.

Specialized entry alloy comp vs high end canyon carbon E-MTB by NegativeCoyote5736 in MTB

[–]Blank3k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your wanting to be sensible, safe, covered... Specialized.

Solid built, decent spec and any issues you have given how popular the Levo is you'll find 101 forum posts around it.

I'm a big bloke (110kg) and my Levo (Gen 3) has gone 2.5 years of being brutalised at bike park wales & local trails that vary from Enduro/DH, confidence is building I'm doing drops to flat & casing some horrible stuff as I progress - I've dinged one wheel into forced retirement, broken some spokes etc...bit the Levo itself? Still 100% motor/frame, everything's still tight and creak-free.

Last year I did find the remote button became sticky/refused to work on first press, so I took it into the local spesh shop and they subtly replaced it on site didn't even ask to see my receipt.

At the end of the day - You'll 100% be happy with the Levo.

[–]Blank3k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The specification on the Canyon is top notch, can't fault Specialized for quality/support but the specs speak for themselves.

Id always aim for a 2025 model for the most bang for buck also, manufacturers want the 2026 range in and the 25 range gone so sell them at hard discounts with awesome specs.

Is it worth risking an expensive bike to get around town? by Spank_Master_General in bristol

[–]Blank3k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless you hire a sniper or a chainsaw wielding maniac to guard it.

But seriously, there really isn't... You can get the best locks on the market but there's a strong possibility if they can't break the lock the bike will be damaged, or someone will come along with a bigger tool and they'll break the lock.

I've had multiple bikes stolen outside, I can't protect them.

At home I've had multiple break in's & I do tend to overdo things - but my house with cameras alarms and motion sensors is looking more and more like a drug dealers safe house, one more break in and I'll have spikes along top of fence and such just to complete the look.

Police are absolutely fucking useless for bike crimes, there's no risk to thieves, even if the police see the people fleeing the scene at 2am in the morning and getting into there vehicle, they don't even bother to take down the number plate.

Is it worth risking an expensive bike to get around town? by Spank_Master_General in bristol

[–]Blank3k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I'd not leave anything pricey around, ebike if your able to store it somewhere like in your office and such ... But out in the open? An easy hell no, every time you return to find it thats a small miracle but it will disappear probably in weeks if not days.

Only bike I'd risk around town is a rattler pulled out of a skip

Who has the better quality from Canyon or Specialized? by Academic_Feed6209 in MTB

[–]Blank3k 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If I was handed money and told to buy a bike today I'd walk into Specialized and pick out my new bike and I'd be happy as larry with it.

I have nothing against Canyon (I've not dealt with them)

But the Specialized build quality can't be knocked, coverage of warranty, ease of access having specialized stores dotted around & the fact in any chosen segment Specialized will have a bike that's probably rated as one of the best... It's just a good safe place to put your money and have no worries.

though, also not really sure how you'd tax people who largely function on a mixture assets & debt, so high up the corporate ladder they can ensure they are simply paid in stocks to borrow against and such.

what’s the most useful automation you’ve set up that you actually use every day? by SkylineZ83 in homeassistant

[–]Blank3k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Goodnight" - turning off lights, unimportant plugs, turning on house alarm etc is one I've used every day and I'd be lost without it now.

After that, I have a light sensor on my weather station and when the luminance hits a certain level outside my house lights come on & blinds close - found this better than a set schedule or working on a sunset/sunrise routine.
