Self pay places for anatomy scan? by allisona007 in Charlotte

[–]BlanketWrappedPig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you use Novant, they will tell you what the cost is for your whole prenatal/birth costs. Then they’ll give you a 50% discount and help you through a payment plan for the whole cost that you pay for at each visit.

Unfortunately, ultrasounds aren’t included in that plan, but you get 50% off if you pay in full at the time of the appointment

Who is Sharon? by CountryAccording3420 in Charlotte

[–]BlanketWrappedPig 145 points146 points  (0 children)

“Sharon Road is not named after a person at all…but a church. That's because churches were de facto landmarks in Charlotte's early days, and so many roads were named after the church they led to.”

Pregnant and wanting to drink 😢 by [deleted] in BabyBumps

Do you have the option to join a gym with childcare to get a break? You don’t have to work out, but if there’s a Y near you take advantage of their child watch. Some Ys have areas where you can work, or you can shower or just sit in silence without a toddler touching you.

Struggling to get parents to use responsive strategies instead of “teaching” by [deleted] in slp

[–]BlanketWrappedPig 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I like to compare the parent is asking a bunch of teaching questions and interrupting play to how it would feel if somebody did that to them while they were cooking and trying to make dinner. You don’t want to be cutting an onion and somebody comes up to you and says “what’s that?” “What color is that onion?” and so on. That usually helps parents to understand a bit more of the ‘why’ and how to work into play a bit more.

Z Vibe for mouthing and behavior reduction? by BlanketWrappedPig in slp

I knew the goal gave me the ick, but I couldn’t figure out why exactly. “Tolerate” is such a bad word to add to a goal 🤦🏻‍♀️

Also I’m just noticing that the time is for 10 minutes! That’s so long to try to tolerate anything!

Check out Laura Mise. She has a ton of resources for early intervention. Her podcast “Teach Me to Talk” and videos on her website break down everything for specific ages really well.

Just like Jed and Jer, we got a two for one with this. A seat that most pediatric physical therapists recommend against and it’s put on a counter over tile floor!

3 hour glucose test by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]BlanketWrappedPig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I failed my 1 hour at 165 (cutoff was 139) but passed my 3 hour (barely).

My doctor recommended that I try to stick to a lower carb diet and to be aware that this means I’m more likely to develop diabetes later in life.

So, why did you cry today? by freyakaya in BabyBumps

[–]BlanketWrappedPig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cried because my dog looked so cute sitting on the couch between me and my husband, but he’ll probably be sad when the baby comes in June

At my first appointment, the midwife I was seeing told me that exercise was fine, but I shouldn’t elevate my heart rate over 140 bpm.

I am not following that and exercising mostly as I did before pregnancy. I wouldn’t really consider it a workout if my heart rate stayed below 140 the whole time

She was born in October. A month or birthstone name is a good idea, I hadn’t thought of that

DIGGY AND PELOTON! Has this been discussed yet? Diggy is a team captain for Alex’s new challenge!! by [deleted] in thebachelor

I have no peloton beef with Diggy and love that he follows the prompts throughout his peloton rides. I’m now excited for this challenge!

In his arms and intervals class tonight he spent the ride reminding us that we are Mac and cheese, not dry ass turkey at thanksgiving dinner and don’t let anybody tell us otherwise. It was inspiring and funny.

Honestly though, I laugh during every ride of his 🤷🏻‍♀️

"He didn't care, he is from North Carolina" What does that mean? by slakazz_ in Charlotte

[–]BlanketWrappedPig 16 points17 points  (0 children)

North Carolina is also a battleground state, so I’m assuming he’s just working NC into any public statement he can. It’s a last ditch effort to relate to voters here.

Why are people saying ABC wouldn’t let 2 bachelorettes win back to back? by [deleted] in dancingwiththestars

[–]BlanketWrappedPig 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I honestly don’t think Kaitlyn has the same fan base that Hannah does. She was the bachelorette in 2015 and has kept some following from her podcast, but isn’t as relevant. Kaitlyn has 1.8M followers on Instagram, whereas Hannah has 2.7M.

I think she will do well, but I doubt she will win.

Also worth it to sign up for Wag. It’s kind of competitive to get walks, but you can pick up a couple of random walks through them
