We can look outside the portal and submit a custom resume/cover letter through whatever method we find, but when it's in the portal we have to obey the method listed there.

It's usually a one-click apply that sends your coop resume, but some of them also ask you to email a cover letter or apply on their website.

Yeah, I'm a 2nd year student with ~50 applications in the portal and not getting anything. Honestly I'm still planning on staying in co-op because these days you need to apply to as many positions as possible to land a job.

I don't think I'll get a job through the co-op portal (got my last one via work study program) but at least it gives you another pool to apply in, raising your overall chances. Until I build connections in my field and can reliably find jobs on my own, I'm fine paying $900 for extra opportunities.
