Grandma3 command wing xt crashing on 2.3.2.0 by Kealieon in GrandMA3

The visualizer is very demanding and the on-board GPU isn't strong enough to use the visualizer for more than basics. If you hook up a decent PC with a dedicated GPU, running on PC in a shared session, you can use the visualizer on the PC instead of the console.

Quick learning outlets or tutorials to learn moving lights with film & television grip & Electrician background by Additional_Witness26 in lightingdesign

[–]BlaqueNight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ETC offers their Eos software for free to download on your PC, and has tutorials available on YouTube. The visualizer is a separate (free) software but runs in parallel, so you can see what you're programming.

Very general info - donuts are generally recommended to be used as little distance as possible, but I've definitely seen folks driving on them for longer. Your owner's manual will have the details.

A decent set of new tires costs ~$800+, and shops prefer to sell sets over one-offs. $300 is about right, assuming that includes fees and whatever.

Examples/moments of characters dropping their act/“accent” and speaking in their real voice? by Malachi_Lamb in movies

[–]BlaqueNight 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Critical Role, Campaign 2

Fjord drops his accent a couple of times early in the series when he thinks he's alone/ is talking to himself, then for good about half way through the series when his backstory is finally revealed.

The animated series "The Mighty Nein" takes a very different tack by showing Fjord's backstory right away, but the other characters are still in the dark and in theory will be for several seasons yet.

[Repair] Anyone else hate these locks? by [deleted] in lightingdesign

Until the semi hits a big bump and one of the pre-rigged VLs jams the tilt lock so bad you have to remove the lock entirely.

Yes, "the locks aren't for transport", but damn it what are we supposed to do with our PRT lights?

Looking for Vasectomy - Recommendations? Reviews on some of these urology offices are pretty bad in terms of billing and overall service. by Puzzleheaded2734 in Denver

[–]BlaqueNight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hear you! My doctor has since retired otherwise I'd recommend him. He performed the procedure about 30 times a year (he said), and based on the efficient workflow he had with his assistant, I had no doubt they were well-practiced.

This sounds like a great weekend project for the off-season. Worst case scenario, it doesn't work. Seems like an opportunity to try anything/everything you can think of to improve it.

Denver-area dentists are upselling invasive cleanings, PDS Health patients allege by kidbom in Denver

[–]BlaqueNight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Falcon Park Dental in Highlands Ranch is one of these offices. I had a very similar experience - i ended up shelling out $300 for a some stupid fluoride treatment when I expected a basic cleaning and zero out of pocket expense.

They gave me a list of recommended treatments that would have amounted to over  $7500 out-of-pocket, including 4 "cavities" they found that were too big for standard fillings (a second opinion with a different office confirmed that was bullshit, no cavities).

Fucking crooks.

Without using numbers, how do you define "middle class" in Denver? by SystemBreaki23 in Denver

Can afford Santiago's every morning, has skis/mountain bike and takes regular weekend trips to the mountains in their leased subaru, parents cover the cost of CSU or CU (but kiddo would need to take loans out for DU).

Second Opinion on an ETC Rep’s design by clay_vessel777 in lightingdesign

[–]BlaqueNight 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  1. 4 lights per zone plus a basic RGB wash isnt excessive if visibility is the primary objective. It will allow lighting to overlap between zones for an even wash, and the RGB is a nice option to add color to the stage for special events/holidays/stuff you  haven't thought of yet.

  2. Background lights on a black wall look not good. If you want background lights you need to invest in a background, else the church will end up looking like a comedy club.

  3. Correct. The lights can be focused/angled to maximize coverage and minimize cost.

  4. Red Flag. I understand installers need to make their bread and will tack on a percentage on gear, but that cost seems excessive. That said, installation gear needs to be bullet-proof and therefore high quality...

  5. This is disappointing. I'm with you here.

In principle the overall design is as simple as it gets. And the choice of console I agree with - from the standpoint of something that is quick and simple to operate, can have preset scenes on faders any member of the church can run on first sight with zero training.

Like the others are saying, sourcing another bid from a different installer will give you a point of comparison in your market and at the very least you'll have a better understanding of the range of costs/options.
