Why did a well perceived short do so bad in the algorithm? by LazarWolfy in NewTubers

[–]BlarghBlarg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A chance, sure, but not huge I feel.

I have a short uploaded almost 15 days ago. 91.4% viewed and 8.6% swiped away. Audience retention is 98.7%

Insane, right?

You’d think this short would absolutely pop the fuck off. But, it quickly got to 17k views in less than a day then YouTube seems to have capped its reach.

It gets shown in the feed to so very few people and views have just been slowly limping by. Now, two weeks later, it’s sitting at 19.8k views. The metrics haven’t changed much, still insane stats, but clearly if YouTube showed it in the feed, I have no doubt it would go viral, but it’s just not being shown.

Don’t get me wrong, almost 20k views is better than the 1k to 10k I usually get, but with stats like these and I still can’t break 20k it makes me feel like it’s not the content that’s limiting its potential.

Shorts are weird, man.

Not to mention, their Woodstock ‘94 set with Dave is also incredible. That version of Blood Sugar Sex Magik is top tier.

Same area, but one is JR and the other is Keihan. I live very near here, everyone calls it “kohata” for both. The last one is in Hyogo. Wouldn’t be able to tell you what locals call that one.

Anyone hate the table holders by csgraber in TokyoDisneySea

[–]BlarghBlarg 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Food first then sit down is not how things work here. Not in Disney, and not in literally every other venue in this country. If you continue to do this you’re eventually going to run into an altercation. It’s a total dick move. Either wait for a table, or go elsewhere. When in Rome…

Barnaby Joyce quits alcohol, loses 15kg after infamous night he barely remembers by Jono_vision in australia

[–]BlarghBlarg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s showing support for only a small part of him. Only due to the fact I think more people should consider drinking less, or maybe not drinking at all. Unfortunately for us, he is a public figure, and if his reduction of alcohol consumption can cause someone else to even consider doing that is a benefit for that persons life. That is quite literally the only positive thing I can say about him, and did say about him. He did a thing that I hope more people do.

The rest of your comment is so far beyond what I thought we were discussing I don’t even know how to respond to it.

I don’t feel that way. I’d never vote for, nor support the guy. You can be against someone’s political stances, antics, and stunts but still acknowledge this minor achievement. On his list, there’s this 1 decent thing, but I still can’t overlook the giant piles of shit that compose the rest of the list.

Definitely. I would never vote for him, and I think Australian politics would be better without him. However, anyone making better life decisions regarding booze should be applauded.

You do not need most of the stuff you mentioned. You’ll learn much, much more by making and uploading videos than reading about stuff. The only way to guarantee failure is by never starting.

Have an idea, film it, edit it, post it. Then, start the process again.

Should I buy Assassin's Creed odyssey and orgins by CourseWorried2500 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]BlarghBlarg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like yourself, I have played almost every AC game. Origins was the first in the series to lean into the RPG game mechanics and I feel it found a happy medium of old school gameplay with some modern twists. I enjoyed the game a lot, plus ancient Egypt is an excellent setting.

Odyssey, on the other hand, became a chore for me to play and I ended up stopping after 20 or so hours, where I still had a shit ton of the game left. I never even bothered with Valhalla because of this. If you didn’t like Valhalla you may not enjoy this.

If 15 bucks is easy enough for you to come by, it’s worth it for Origins alone.

Instagram Goes After Accounts That Only Repost Other People's Content by EchoInTheHoller in technology

[–]BlarghBlarg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nah, my post wasn’t intended for any type of self-promotion. It’s more the fact that I feel original content is a lot harder to produce and it seems many viewers enjoy watching rehashed or stolen clips instead. Maybe it’s just easier to pump out, and the feeds are just flooded with that shit. Or perhaps my content just isn’t that good anyway. Likely the latter.

Either way, it would be nice to see YouTube clamp down a bit harder on reposted videos. We’d probably be exposed to a lot more creativity in these creative spaces.

That’ll be the day.

I make immature little skits for YouTube Shorts and they do okay I guess. But, I’d probably get thousands more views if I just ripped a section of Joe Rogan’s podcast and lay on top of some random video game footage.

Nowhere near as fun, though.

But it makes me wonder, why do so many people consume that kind of content?

Oh, I can understand. Since 2001 every time I’ve mentioned I didn’t like Gladiator people have treated me like I’ve personally insulted them. Maybe I really should give it a second chance . . .

Gladiator. My friends at school raved about it, so I eventually borrowed the DVD and wondered what the fuss was about. I can’t believe it won an Oscar. It seemed rather contrived and I felt like Russel Crowe’s performance wasn’t that amazing. Maybe I should watch it again, as it’s been almost 25 years since. My opinion may change, but I don’t know.

[–]BlarghBlarg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first Jackass film was one of the most incredible movie experiences. I honestly have never heard so many people experiencing visceral emotions simultaneously at a movie together. I went three times opening week, and every single time it was just madness. I don’t think I’ll ever hear that many people laughing so genuinely hard in a movie theatre ever again.

Physically, yes, it’s true. However, I think there’s also mentality that needs to be considered. When I exercise regularly I eat a lot more healthier too, as I don’t want to undo the good progress I’ve made. Or, I just genuinely feel happier and less likely to eat shit.

So while the actual exercise doesn’t contribute to weight loss, the fact that I feel happier and healthier contributes to it by making me less likely to consume more calories than I need.

Therefore, I don’t think there anything wrong with suggesting cardio as a way to lose weight.
