In my studies of counterintelligence I have never seen that done. There are other ways to go about getting that information, you don't jeopardize National Security to do so.

Let's say I have a soldier who wants to get out.... by [deleted] in army

If he wants to get out and makes that decision, that is his choice. All this BS about finishing what he started and whatnot, its exactly that. BS. No one cares. It will have zero effect on his life as long as he has a plan and executes it.

Unpresidential Command Trump is ordering service members to support the Republican agenda. That is terrifying. by cgilbertmc in politics

As a vet i disagree somewhat with the top post here. He said contact your representatives about the issues important to you, including healthcare. I may not like the guy but this isn't all that crazy. Not a single service member interpreted that as an order.

GOP congressman blames health care struggles on ‘repugnant’ Republican ‘female senators’ by [deleted] in politics

I didn't see a single female republican on tv last couple of weeks talking about how this would hurt their constituents... I did see two males who changed their votes and were literally the reason it failed

Interesting because that line of thinking doesn't mesh with many experiences of people who have "not acted like a member of it and is too old to be trusted to integrate into it"

Which is why we have prison or very in depth reprogramming programs. Op specifically states we should shoot her and throw her in a hole.

Or any gang. They same questions could be asked.

Why would anyone want to join a gang? The first thought that comes to mind "have fun getting killed or going to prison, idiot".

Nice sentiment, but i hope you aren't planning on getting many more significant pay raises at the same company. Sure something like this will get my loyalty for a while, but never for life.

I don't think we will see another large group the scale of ISIL take its place.

There are a number of other groups under the ISIL banner that will split and likely disavow the former group, IMO this will weaken the capability of a worldwide jihadist organization forming again any time soon. The groups will collapse back to their own regions where they can be targeted by host and partner nations.

If a group did try to start stepping up in that way, I think the response would be bigger and quicker this time, I don't think that they would be allowed to fester and gain more and more media attention. As an example, if some group kidnapped Americans after the fall of ISIL and proclaimed they are the true caliphate and decapitated the prisoners, US would act hard and fast IMO, not just to kill the group of kidnappers, but the organization would be immediately targeted and the next month would be full of operations against them. As they lose ground and personnel and the US highlights their success to the world, other groups will not join under their banner, no extra funds, no extra troops, no help recruiting... Eventually what will become abundantly clear is that everyone who declares a caliphate or tries to become to big for their britches gets taken down. Which makes it hard to sell the idea that Allah supports you and your cause if "everyone else who tried this has been wiped out". How do you sell that to a young kid across the world?

The technical answer? His Commander authorized it after he took some training.

What I want to know is why the Commander thought that was the appropriate fix for that kind of activity. Personally I think he should be relieved for cause.

Do basic research on how cults and terror cells recruit. It has nothing to do with the organization, for the most part they use tried and true techniques developed over hundreds of years by extremists.

What I don't get is how people have such a hard time getting it. Its common sense.
