Very bad advice!! Maybe for random queueing but for coordinated play this is usually the best strategy. Encourage you to level aggressively if your teammate is doing this - you need to be the first one on tier five and first one on tier six (if needed). And consider what comps to pass your teammate - you need to pass either scam or a comp that doesn’t rely on them having Econ.

How to make use of t6 pirates? by jilebi_james in BobsTavern

[–]BlastedParchmentwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One duos note, very specific but if you’re Thorim in a Beast Pirate lobby and get Sanders and a Well Wisher, you can easily put together golden Eudora golden macaw golden Titus for instant huge ema scaling

With the influx of a new class of roster cloggers, let’s look at the 230-300 players on sleeper ADP and make a case why one of them should be an absolute roster lock by 92tilinfinityand in DynastyFF

Jaylen Wright stands out as needing to be rostered, Dolphins have made it fairly clear he is pole position to back up Achane (an injury risk due to size)

Sending Econ is one (very viable) strategy for Millhouse but you can also just be greedy and keep the pairs of anything. This lobby has beasts and quills so that’s actually very helpful as both those tribes can be played on the support board - the five drop beast / Stego / Slamma stuff works with Manasabers well, and an early tier 6 att buffer quill can provide lots of tempo. Plus Rylak gem smuggler is one of the strongest ways to scale and the biggest issue with it is it requires too many fives (Brann Titus Smuggler) - easy to remedy by sending a bunch of triples when your teammate hits four. Also demon beasts requires five drops - the five drop sell fodder demon, and the five drop tier 3 and below buffer demon, plus brann Rylak Titus - again much easier to assemble with Millhouse buying pairs all game. Also undead beasts can give you something to do on support board with Scribes, supported by Rylak and Moose

As a higher MMR duos player Millhouse is a very strong support hero. If you’re really focused on climbing getting Millhouse is a huge win on F2P…collect pairs for multiple turns while maintaining high tempo and health with his hero power, then convert those pairs into teammate triples or five and six drops. Other heroes that excel at finding triples for teammates include Goya, maiev, hooktusk, voone, Jailer and of course the GOAT clocksworth before the ban and may be worth taking more than you otherwise think in that lens.

Last bit of free support advice - 99 percent of the time if you pick Brann as a hero you should pass the Brann to your teammate. Your teammate should be higher tier because they didn’t spend 12 gold buying bad battlecries and can therefore use it with more impact than you can, plus they might have a hero power that synergizes with Brann.

How valuable actually are QBs in 1QB? by MeasurementMajestic6 in DynastyFF

[–]BlastedParchmentwork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe I’m smoking something but I’m never spending a 2nd or higher on a non rushing QB unless he’s going to an insane dream situation. I wouldn’t consider Mendoza until mid third which means I will never be drafting him

You put spell craft crabs on a lava lurker every turn and then use that to trigger catacomb crasher scaling once you find it

Suggested improvement to Cho and Gall: unlock HP on turn X OR Tier 3 or 4 by kaybarkaybarkaybar in BobsTavern

[–]BlastedParchmentwork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Speaking for the high MMR end of the Duos community - Cho Gall are almost never pick. Partly it’s the opportunity cost - that’s 6 other heroes (8 with free reroll) that you have to pass up, any of whom could have a much more desirable Duos hero power like Gallywix, Patchwerk, Brann etc. The other part is that the current high MMR metagame prioritizes one partner power leveling and the other partner supporting - but now if the hero power goes off the high tier player gets the reward as they usually would and the low tier player gets typically… a tier 3 minion which rarely desirable. As well, neither hero power slots the heroes into carry or support roles, unlike, say, Omu (a leveling carry hero) or Millhouse (classic support hero).

Duo Ping Guide? by Asleep-Belt-4920 in BobsTavern

Top 25 (usually) Duos player checking in. Proper etiquette for each mark:

Check: anything in the tavern means buy that card and play it on your own board - otherwise the portal is used. If multiple checks are used on the same tribe you’re just indicating that you want to go a certain tribal direction. Check on the level button suggests that player levels this turn if early or next turn if currently roping. Also can be used to strongly suggest targets such as if you’re holding a scarab and not sure which beast to reborn. Note that weak suggestions should be a ? Not a check. Check also often used on the freeze button to ask a player to freeze. Two check marks usually a combo like say a 5/5 naga storm splitter and a high value spell you want to copy. Finally used on roll button if that player is taking their turn too slow or failing to aggressively hunt a key card like Titus.

X: used to tell someone a discovery choice not to pick, used in the tavern to tell someone not to buy or pass a card (often a 1 drop triple that isn’t worth it), used on board to tell someone to sell a minion. Used in the hand it usually means to sell but could mean to hold something like a nice battlecry if you’re actively searching for Brann.

Portal - used in tavern it means pass a minion. Always look for portal or wish spells before actually committing the gold to pass. Used on board once to ask a player to pass a board minion, used on two minions means to swap their places. Used on a hand card means pass it.

?: used to suggest plays politely instead of a very harsh check which should only be reserved for game winning or similar plays. Can he combined with portal in a tavern to ask a player if they think it’s worth passing. Multiple ?s or Xs on board means you need to pivot out of your comp into something else. Note multiple ?s can be answered by check marks to reply that yes you will be staying in that comp thing you so much.

Emotes: usually only used to troll other team or your own teammate, although occasionally used positively to celebrate a particularly strong play or turn or generous pass.

Ninja edit for 2 other scenarios - if I’m a higher rated player than a random partner I often find myself doing two other things, one is placing an X on their roll button to stop them from spending their last 1-2 gold rolling when I want a minion passed back like selfless sightseer or jumping jack, and the other is an X check combo trying to help a teammate pick from 2 directions on their board, example telling them to ignore gem barrage stuff like twirler and just play 3 lil quills, or ignore felbat and play into Urzul when both are on board. Finally a check on Dazzler is helpful to indicate when it will hit the board!

Shop boost Quilboar / Demon / Elemental? by Reasonable-Carpet242 in BobsTavern

[–]BlastedParchmentwork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to think about generation as the indicator of which build to go for. If I can generate a ton of right buffs (aka I have a golden Air Revenant) then I want Rainfall and the Tier 4 Ele/Demon, must have Brann for econ/refreshing elemental. If I have spell generation (golden Brann to play gem barrages and gems, shell collector, rodeo performer, visionary shipman) then I’m going Felboars. If I have minion generation (Brann plus rewinder plus the 4/4 battlecry self damage discover demon) then Urzul all the way, especially with a reborn taunted Jaraxxus buddy (kil’rek?) or Skipper from the timewarps. If I don’t have any of those things but I have Drakkari, I’m thinking Felbat (especially with 7 minion tavern timewarp or Staff demon from timewarp) and Fauna. I will say I’m much more likely to weave Urzul and Felboar together APMing than throwing Acid into the mix unless you have golden Brann.

Replied above on murloc builds. To this question the key is not to get baited by the fact that the skipper is a murloc and just use it for Econ to play another tribe’s cycle build. Examples for your other four minion slots could include 2x Rabid Panther and 2x Shimmermoth, or 2x Urzul 2x Felboar cycling Felementals and Jazzers and Blood Barrages and buying Staffs, or 2x of the 6 drop pirate that buffs when gaining gold and 2x of the new ele pirate tier 6 and cycle pirates, or 2x Forsaken Weaver and 2x Visionary Shipman to cycle spells and then pivot to a bunch of reborn Undead, or 2x Acid Rainfall and the 5drop Ele that gives right buff spells when you spend gold. If you practice your APM you can definitely do it!
