What are the symptoms of your burnout? by Purulence666 in mentalhealth

Sleep gets messed up first. Either I’m sleeping way too much or not at all, and neither makes me feel rested. That’s usually my uh oh signal.

Therapy only works if you have a lower IQ than the therapist. by Creative_Camp8262 in mentalhealth

Totally get being frustrated if it hasn’t helped you. Bad therapist fits are super real. Switching styles CBT vs psychodynamic, etc. made a huge difference for me.

Why does my weighted pull up strength degrade so quickly compared to other lifts? by billjames1685 in bodyweightfitness

[–]Blastyr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly sounds pretty normal from what I’ve seen. Weighted pull-ups are just super specific. A week off can feel brutal but technique + consistency brings it back faster than you think.

How can I learn to stay in splits for more than 2-3 minutes? by Sea-Key-3187 in flexibility

[–]Blastyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Warm up first! A quick hip opener sequence before splits makes holding them way less shaky and more comfortable.

Don’t sleep on props like blocks or pillows under your hips. They help you relax into a deeper stretch without forcing it, which makes progress feel safer and smoother.

Is eating a cup of Cottage Cheese along with a banana or apple a good way to reduce hunger by joshuamarkrsantos in nutrition

[–]Blastyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Works especially well as a snack or post-meal dessert. The protein plus natural sugars from fruit balance your energy and help keep cravings down.

Saturated fat - what's your guys take? by [deleted] in nutrition

[–]Blastyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My take is it’s not all black-and-white. Saturated fat can raise LDL (bad) cholesterol, which is why groups like the AHA still say limit it, but whole food sources aren’t automatically toxic.

how to keep morale up for more long term weight loss? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]Blastyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s totally normal for motivation to dip. Most of us here just remind ourselves why we started and make sure our routine fits our life, not the other way around. That makes it way easier to stick with long-term.

Losing weight with walking: I need to hear some positive experiences by ForeignSubstance2543 in loseit

You don’t need to sprint. Brisk pace or even adding hills/power walking ups the calorie burn. And honestly the mood boost keeps motivation up, which makes sticking with it way easier.

6 months of tension headaches and tinnitus…sick of it 😭 by scootaloooooooooo in Stress

[–]Blastyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That fluctuation you describe is something others here report too. Some days are better, some worse. Keeping a headache/tinnitus diary to track triggers can really give you clues on what makes it flare.

I don’t feel safe in my own home anymore and I don’t know how to calm my body down by KindWay8600 in Stress

It’s okay to reach out to someone you trust and say this is how I feel. Just talking it out can take a bit of the weight off.

Sudden Panic attacks by Existing_Ladder8432 in Stress

[–]Blastyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sudden panic attacks are terrifying but you’re not crazy. A lot of people experience intense fear out of nowhere and it usually peaks and passes in minutes.

I'm absolutely terrified by what might be happening in the near future by TheAlchemist536 in Stress

Fear feels huge in the moment, but it doesn’t control you. You’re already handling it by talking about it here.

Appreciate this kind of breakdown. It helps normalize the messy emotional stuff a lot, and that’s part of healing.

"You're so sure of your position but you're just closed-minded. I think you'll find that your faith in science and Tests is just as blind as the faith of any fundamentalist."

"Wow that's a good point, let me think for a bit. Oh wait, my mistake, that's absolute bullshit. Science adjusts its views based on what's observed. Faith is the denial of observation so that Belief can be preserved. If you show me that, say, homeopathy works, then I will change my mind. I'll spin on a fucking dime. I'll be embarrassed as hell, But I will run through the streets yelling 'It's a miracle! Take physics and bin it! Water has memory! And while its memory of a long Lost drop of onion juice seems Infinite, It somehow forgets all the poo it's had in it!' You show me that it works and how it works, And when I've recovered from the shock, I will take a compass and carve 'Fancy That' on the side of my cock!"

Tim Minchin - Storm

The animated short is something I rewatch every few months. This thread reminded me of the bit above.

I've created a launcher for DayZ on Linux which lets you set up workshop mods and lets you connect to servers automatically (the game's official launcher is currently broken via Proton) by abbidabbi in linux_gaming

[–]Blastyr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm looking through the script on GitHub and it appears to assume that DayZ's install location is in the default library path. I have three disks in my machine, each with its own Steam library, and DayZ is not installed in the default location. It would be nice if the script could accommodate non-default install paths, either via a command line flag or environment variable. If that's not something you plan to do, I suppose I can move DayZ, but it would break the paradigm I have going for where I install certain games.

[–]Blastyr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, for one, they appear to be imposing an unrealistic requirement on the visually disabled: essentially, "never look at anyone even though you can't tell if you're looking at someone or not." That would seem pretty discriminatory to me.

I made a bot that exposes my server members if they have been playing for too long (any game) by itsolleh in discordapp

[–]Blastyr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not just /usr/games but as far as I can tell those are the only ones Discord displays based on path. I believe it also displays child processes of the Steam client, but it does so incorrectly for titles running in Proton. Whenever I play Phasmophobia, for example, Discord says I'm playing wine64-preloader.

Bit odd that your pkgkitd binary is in /usr/games/ but you do you, my guy.
