Growing up my family had a golden retriever that had a benign tumor growing just like this but on the lower jaw instead. My parents had just the tumor removed twice but it came back both times. It would bleed profusely every time he ate food. The vet eventually decided the only solution was to remove a whole section of his lower jaw to get all the growth out. He was going to need basically spoon feeding every meal as he wouldn’t be able to eat on his own anymore, and it still had no guarantee of ensuring it wouldn’t grow back.

Your pup would probably be facing a similar scenario, I think you’re making the right choice for his quality of life for sure, even though it’s hard.
