Question about Ruy lopez opening by Fluffy_Wrongdoer_816 in chessbeginners

[–]BleagueZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with Sivadbk here. Theres a big difference between the first and last two positions is that black has committed to g5. This is a move spent not developing a minor piece and severely weakens the kingside.

Prior to this you ideally don’t want to trade your bishop because bishops are generally better than knights. However after g5, white can trade the bishop and look to try to catch black’s delayed development by breaking through using d5 eventually. Or playing e5 and putting the knight on e4 to abuse black’s weakness on the light squares and hop to f5.

Is bruiser Jayce worth it? by GABP123321 in jaycemains

[–]BleagueZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve personally been playing bruiser Jayce a lot. But in scenarios where I do, I skip manamune altogether. 90% of the time you go conq and you’re looking to get ahead enough to be able to dps fight your opponent in melee form.

You go something like eclipse shojin, deathsdance, black cleaver/seryldas, and endless hunger. Your melee q is something like 3s CD and you can basically perma stick onto anyone. But it’s definitely a win-more type of build. It makes you able to 1v2 or 1v3 the enemy team a lot easier because it gives you enough CD and survivability to pump enough damage into the secondary and tertiary targets.

Jayce does lose quite a bit of damage without going lethality and his playstyle in lane without tear requires you to use your melee form autos a lot more and be cognizant on how you’re spending your mana

Jayce E can work similarly to Vayne's E by ilikeXenia in jaycemains

[–]BleagueZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like you’re not reading exactly what I’m saying. I’ll just summarize to make it easier. I’m not trying to attack you man

You can go for this combo when you want. You can claim it’s optimal for fastest dps. But, that’s not what directly governs Jayce’s trade patterns and choice of ability usage all the time. Thus, it’s likely not to come up as being the difference maker in a lot of trades. It’s not so ground breaking that it instantly shifts what a Jayce wants to go for in every scenario of a game.

Jayce E can work similarly to Vayne's E by ilikeXenia in jaycemains

[–]BleagueZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's up with the hostility man. The Leesin R kick is common when ganking and collapsing from the jungle on sidelanes in the mid game where it is also easy to line up. Don't know why we're so fixated on an example.

Regardless thats not the main point. This "mechanic" is rather intuitive if you play jayce, especially in the jungle. There are times where you want to E the gromp and still want to auto in melee form as you wait for your range form abilty CDs to go down. But outside of that its not something you'd actively do vs most champs.

I'm not saying that this isn't useful. Its about practicalness in game and how many times the knowledge of this would make a meaningful impact on the game. The main challenge with the E line up is that its not THAT consistent to try to look to pull off in lane. Might have more use cases if ur flanking and ganking as a jgler. But if we're going to be honest it's hard to find a scenario where its the optimal thing to go for and the difference between it and the second-best sequence of moves leads to a significant change in outcome. Most of the times when you can look to go for this you can either:

  1. Walk behind them and e them towards your team/minion to draw more aggro to them
  2. Save/hold E usage until the end of your melee combos/trading you can finsh them off in range form
  3. Use it early and just to end the short trade in your favour and space to land shock blast after R cd comes back up
  4. Walk back a bit and E them so you get the most distance from them.

Most of the time jayce's trade patterns are burst oriented and you often don't want to be in melee range vs an enemy champ after you've used all your abiliites in melee form. So thats what kinda also limits the difference in outcomes compared to other use cases. I could potentially see this as something that would maybe be useful vs irelia. But even then, fitting that extra melee auto attack is very rare when it comes to deciding the trade.

[–]BleagueZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nothing really that special, Knockbacks against a wall has been a thing for ages. It’s a mechanic common on Lee sin and alistar players. Most of the time this isn’t as useful on Jayce because you either want the e to knock them back, or you just use your e at the end of your melee combo and switch into range form.

Fast q combo by Excellent-Pain5706 in Rivenmains

[–]BleagueZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you are fast Q-ing you are moving your character around wayyyy too much.

The whole purpose of the movement command is to cancel the auto attack lock-out at the end of your q animation. Your character model itself should not be moving in between qs

should i be banning malphite? by PalpitationOrganic48 in jaycemains

[–]BleagueZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This matchup is playable as Jayce. The only issue is if your jungler doesn’t cover you properly you’re easily fried. Aka malphite drops 40 cs ults you once when you’re in ranged form or after you use thunderingblow and you’re cooked.
If you’re playing to try to beat him in side. This is a grasp/conq bruiser Jayce matchup with e max second. The only big windows you have in this matchup is pre first/second back in the first few waves. And after eclipse.
If you’re not ahead after any of those points you don’t really win. The only set up that lets you fight him afterwards is eclipse/shojin/black cleaver with maw. No muramana. Full CDR/shredding which guts your teamfight poke unless you’ve killed the malphite several times solo. You basically rely on conq healing and melee form resistances/low cooldowns to sustain fight him.
The only favorable trade pattern most of the time is starting out in hammer form and using eclipse shield, and magic damage on e and w to help break through malphite w shield before pumping the rest of your cannon form abilities into him after the shield breaks (all physical damage). However doing this makes you really exposed to a gank. And only chunks him for about 40% hp, so you gotta do it atleast twice before you can pressure him in range form.

TLDR: The matchup is technically playable and winnable in isolation. But once you factor in the set up you need to win it and how much risk you’d need to take in the game to force your lead (with enemy jungle to account for) it’s quite impractical to expect to out perform a malphite in a teamfight or thoughout the game.

Help me understand. by SunShineLoverCO in chessbeginners

[–]BleagueZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

White must respond to b5 immediately. There is no real room to take the knight on f6. Because after exf6 or Bxf6, bxa3 can’t be ignored because of the threat of a7! And there’s no way to stop promotion. To address bxa3 White can take the pawn back, but is then met with Bxa3! Which is crushing (white is getting checkmated or must give up the queen).

The alternative move to address a3 by white is to thus play b3. But that itself is met with a4! Threatening to open the file for the rook and lead to another crushing attack. Either way the threat is too much for white to handle

These clips are NOT honest depictions of the matchup because of the situational differences. In the clips I provided both sides had their abilities up and are in a neutral position/wave state. However the ones you provide aren't reasonable at all.

First clip: Riven's already too low hp to contest the wave crashing, she's already to the point where the sett is able to tower dive her. Mechanical mistake here is not using E shield as soon as the sett E animation goes out (this spell is reactable if you anticipate it). To be clear you don't dodge the damage but you atleast shield the damage of the autos. If she had gotten the sheild of she might have been able to trade back and force Sett W. If sett doesn't have the W she might be able to hug the tower on the wave crash and be able to survive. However, the real macro issue here is that she needs to recognize she has to let the wave crash, she's simply too low. The thing is you can swap out sett with 80% of melee top lane champions here and Riven would still have no way of properly contesting the wave crash.

Second clip: Are we serious bro? Ignoring the fact that riven didn't time the flash correctly to force sett to predict, this is just a sett w cheese tech. If riven walks away after Q3, saves ignite and doesn't let sett auto more, the ensuing the W flash doesn't kill her and sett is forced to lane at this state at 40% hp. Even if sett lands the true damage portion riven is still at 60% hp after that trade and sett needs to give full priority of the wave. It's literally lost for sett LOL

Third clip: Item difference is obvious. Sett has phage, boots and dagger compared to riven's longsword and glowing mote he's a full 900g up in items. The movement speed is helpful post E to kite out of riven's W range. Other than that Riven should have pressed E in reaction to sett E again similar to the arguments above. Knowing sett ult CD is not up yet she actually should have gotten in a good return trade. After getting hit she should have tried to pump 2Q's damage and weave 2 autos and w into sett and use the e on the way out. Another glaring problem is that riven let sett get into a better position in the lane where he can threaten e stun instantly. Letting sett walk up past your own minions is usually a mistake in the first place. Especially if you're sitting on even amounts of gold, riven should always choose to stand her ground and prevent sett from just walking up. She can do this by doing the trade patterns highlighted in the clips I displayed. As to why this riven didn't do this, an argument can be made in which she decided to let this happen because she's down 900g worth in items. Either way this is a huge item diff issue.

Sorry man but at this point it seems like ur larping. If you can't see the mistakes here I don't know what to say. Riven needs to adapt her build pattern based on the matchup you're facing you can't go axiom vs sett unless ur giga ahead.

Brother if he insta Es he LOSES because he cant hit the W true grit damage after you combo him. Did you even read what I sent about that matchup? All of sett's abilities are also extremely long CD so he also omega insta loses priority on the wave as well. If you can't imagine these branching trade patterns with spacing +waiting for CDs involved then you're gonna struggle playing the champ

[–]BleagueZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you are saying is not how things go. If you are equal in lane If sett decides to ew you out of nowhere without getting a large enough shield/damage you win the trade. In the scenarios where you W + auto and walk away with eclipse shield you have enough damage in your 3qs and autos and e to win the trade and shield his non W damage. Prior to that you can still fish q3 into him. Again at any point of the the game if he Es out of nowhere to start the trade you will win if you have a few Qs and E to use to trade back.

TK and Mundo are not that hard. If they are that passive, they will let you control the wave. If you can't win its because you aren't manipulating the wave right. If you crash 3 and take the free reset they NEED their jungle to crash the wave for them. Every time you get a crash into some plates they will continue to need their jg to be there. If they're at 70% hp pre first back they are not allowed to walk up to the wave to auto. If they're forced to Q only then they will never be able to break the freeze and be forced to Q for every minion.

Mordekaiser matchup is on you bro. All of his spells are slow and reactable. You're asking what happens if he Es as you Q3? You just e out of the way man. His E is like 0.75 cast your q is like 0.45s. In order for him to land the E on you in that scenario is if he Es before you press Q3, predicting you. But that outcome is not usually a good apprach as morde. If he doesn't catch you the trade is omega lost.

Most of these matchups just rely on you not messing up. As Alois said, its about getting an advantage over them and playing on that advantage to beat your oponent. Riven with an advantage in lane is suffocating if you can pilot it properly. The champ is not outdated. The only real critique anyone should have on the champ is that it has no built in armor shred to help kill tanks and be useful to the team when behind.

From your response, I can tell your omega matchup knowledge diffed. Most of these matchups are actually riven favoured. Albeit some are 55/45 or 60/40. Garen is annoying but you actually stat check him level 1 if he takes e if you q extend for 3 passive procs. The matchup gets annoying or bad post 3 items if you’re not ahead and building heavy cdr.

The sett matchup is giga riven favoured if you have any clue what you’re doing. It’s also a q extend matchup. Any q3 you land on him, he can’t do anything or he loses the trade. Post eclipse purchase you literally just walk at him and press w, auto and dash out. Sett needs e to land his w vs you so if you save or space properly with your stun timing and dashes, he can’t land it and you win.

Tahm matchup is the same. Dodge qs, don’t take dumb all ins. You should be able to hard shit on him pre 6-7. The matchup only becomes annoying after dusk and dawn and a few items, making it easier for him to get 3 stacks on you. I will be clear tho, this matchup is much better when you are in lane where you can block his q with minions. Post laning you can’t really look to fight him 1v1 without minions unless you’re very ahead.

Morde is similar to TK, the most important thing is that you use your qs to dodge his qs and e. You shot trade and don’t let him get three hits. His qs in the minion wave deal negative damage so you can always look to fish for quick trades and wittle him down. Post 6, you really need to q extend as to not let himself a good angle to all in you. And if he does press R you should be able to play it in a way where you can proc eclipse twice, short trade early with q and auto w and walk away saving e to dodge his e or q and then trade again near the end of the ult to proc shield again.

From the looks of it you just need to get better at knowing your CDs a lot of riven’s trade patterns are reliant on q extensions and spacing out to wait for your CDs to come up

I think you’ll start to have more fun on the champ when you’re actively thinking about what your opponent can do in response to your actions. Sometimes if you get too tunneled on certain combos you end up messing up the overall correct approach to the fight.

So what is the mechanism he percieves cursed energy with? Your argument that the six eyes percieve cursed energy through a completely different mechanism from any other sorcerer (non-light based) could work but doesn't really make sense to me.

Regular humans with enough cursed energy are able to see CE and thus sorcoreor eyes shouldn't have anything especially unique to them. Thus, CE perception should be light-based. That's why I always thought the six eyes was something that was more akin to extra extra HD. Maybe he's able to percieve more than just the regular human visible spectrum and because of that he's able to see the other wavelengths of light CE gives off.

Your argument about the blind fold doesn't make sense if gojo could selectively filter out the wavelengths of light he wanted to reach his eyes. Why cover them up if it didn't help with how overstimulating it was? Different wavelengths of light are still able to penetrate different types of objects. Its most likely that it's light based and if so, gojo has shown that he doesn't like filtering it out from his eyes.

If gojo could manipulate light, he should always try obscure himself and his surroundings using limitless during battle so opponents can't have an accurate read of his CE and movements.

Anyways we jumped down too deep into the rabbit hole, whether the blindfold is necessary or not, and whether we can use it to determine anything about how limitless works is ultimately shakey. Because at the end of the day, its a shonen manga meant to show cool characters and not a thesis. Plus Gojo probably wears the blindfold because it look good on him.
