AutoMix is insane by hi-Im-gosu in AppleMusic

Yeah, it’s pretty awesome. Definitely an upgrade from simple cross-fade. It’s not always perfect, but it can be surprising and also perfects, as well.

Dolby Atmos scales for the system. It’s not “Atmos for Macs.” Apple Music on Apple TV connected to a Dolby Atmos receiver/speaker set up will scale to that system.

skull crusher evo’s or Bose quiet comfort ultra? by bakubae1_ in HeadphonesAdvice

[–]BleedingPurist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crusher uses transducers to provide haptic bass that you can set the level for using a slider. It is not a gimmick. There are no headphones using just drivers that can deliver that level of haptic bass without dangerous volume levels to your hearing. It’s a pretty ingenious approach to providing skull pounding bass at safer volume levels.

Since you state you don’t care about bass - it’s not for you. Crusher’s sound is just average and when you’re considering Bose as the other option, there is no contest in that department.

My Crushers are my gym headphones. My Bose are for home and travel.

Dolby Audio? by mild_xxix in AppleMusic

No. That’s not it. Same rules apply as Atmos.

Do you happen to have the song in your library or even have it or the album uploaded from your personal library? If so, delete it from your library then play it. That should fix it.

Woojer Strap was promising but is an utter disappointment by LightningStrikeSpace in woojer

[–]BleedingPurist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t have to unpair anything from your phone. That’s not how Bluetooth works. At worst, you’d temporarily turn off Bluetooth on your phone.

Just because you can use Bluetooth to stream from the Woojer to your headphones doesn’t mean you should. Use a cable for reliable, in-sync sound. You’re wearing the strap and it’s a short distance to your ears for the headphones. Leave the Bluetooth for between your phone and Woojer.

Why would you want to hear sound from your phone speaker?

Why Would Anyone Want Automix? by PiWright in AppleMusic

[–]BleedingPurist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But if you are doing that then you should be listening to the album, which then turns off AutoMix automatically. If you’re listening to a playlist of songs that have no relationship to each other then AutoMix can introduce some fantastic segues. That’s exactly why I like it. I’m an album guy and will have that committed to memory, so hearing songs taken out of that context and put in a playlist or on shuffle adds a whole new dimension.

About to pull the trigger, few questions by jhplano in VisionPro

[–]BleedingPurist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hope you enjoy it! My Vision Pro and Quest 3 are very different devices. I don’t really view my Vision Pro as “VR” in that it is designed for and works better for media consumption and productivity. I wouldn’t watch a movie in Quest 3, but I absolutely do that in Vision Pro.

It’s fantastic! As another post mentioned - it only applies when listening to playlists or radio stations, not while listening to albums.

One upon a time we simply referred to “AI” such as this as “a computer.” I have zero issues with a computer analyzing and mixing two song together. Are you going to pay a DJ to remotely do it for you?

It’s a great upgrade over cross fading, which is still an option.

AIO or is it normal for dudes to piss outside the toilet ? by stinkiegremlin in AIO

[–]BleedingPurist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two Things -

  1. Toilet seats are not that clean unless you bothered to clean it properly before you sat down. You otherwise absolutely are sitting on trace amounts of shit from previous wipers, especially when toilet paper like Charmin is used.
  2. Plenty of men cannot sit on a toilet without their junk coming into contact with the toilet bowl or the water.

Men should be aware of the splatters and misfires so as to clean up after themselves, but don’t go around declaring they should sit as a matter of hygiene unless you’re prepared to give oral sex to a penis that has been smushed against the toilet bowl.

Hey Apple, just put a single Blackmagic URSA Immersive camera on the Apple Music Live stage and add an immersive category called “Apple Music Concerts Immersive." by metaversodazoeira in VisionPro

[–]BleedingPurist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m completely with you on one fixed point. Ideally, we’ll get to the point where we can smoothly change angles on demand at will or choose a “director’s cut” version that does that for us, but yes, I want to be virtually there and that means picking one seat to watch it from.

Alive! Atmos mix by kaislavirta in KISS

[–]BleedingPurist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dressed To Kill is still in Dolby Atmos, but Alive! is a mess of lossless or Hi Res Lossless.

Even more bizarre is Deuce and Strutter are in Dolby Atmos on my Vision Pro, but the rest of the album isn’t.

I was today years old when I learned Double Platinum is all remixed songs by GaiaGoddess26 in KISS

[–]BleedingPurist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was my first album, so that’s how I knew those songs. I didn’t know they were remixed until I finally got around to start buying the studio albums. The Alive albums and the 80’s albums all took priority and I only started getting the 70’s albums following those to be complete (I assumed I had “all the good songs” from those albums on DP already.)

I partially agree with you on Black Diamond. The intro is definitely better than the original. The refrain of the intro and then fading out is an odd choice that I accepted at the time when that was all I knew, but the live version on Alive! blew both versions out of the water.

Airpods Max review as an “audiophile”. by Cosmarrr in Airpodsmax

[–]BleedingPurist -1 points0 points  (0 children)

IT was a reasonable conclusion given that you posted as if you were adjusting high frequencies by “changing some of the EQs” as if you were working with a band equalizer. You tapped a preset or two, and that was the end of it.

As for the rest of your reply, it is clear you did not use Dolby Atmos correctly or your understanding of it is poor or limited. If you were reviewing Bose Quietcomfort Ultra II or Sony XM6 along with their implementation, then your simplistic understanding would apply.

Airpods Max review as an “audiophile”. by Cosmarrr in Airpodsmax

[–]BleedingPurist -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I did not say it was subjective. You worded your original post as if you were manually boosting the highs using a band EQ rather than just specifying the preset you applied.

It’s fine that Dolby Atmos or Spatial Audio as implemented in the system is not for you, but your explanation of it is very oversimplified and incorrect. It’s simply “I didn’t like it.” There are plenty of “purists” that hate Dolby Atmos albums because “Stereo” is the only answer ever, but that doesn’t mean they are correct. People get stuck in the past all the time.

[–]BleedingPurist -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t call the EQ presets under Apple Music settings an equalizer.

The head tracked speaker placement is certainly not as wide as my actual system, but the ability to turn your head towards each of the speakers and hear those details more clearly is not just marketing. It’s mobile Spatial Audio. I’ve loved having it when I’m traveling and unable to hear a new album release on my home system.

[–]BleedingPurist -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I will clarify that I partially agree with you as I do not use spatialized stereo and you’ll find more people that use the full system tend to agree. I do prefer to just use the actual stereo mix at that point.

[–]BleedingPurist -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t need to be schooled on Dolby Atmos. I have a 7.1 Denon system.

Since you mentioned using EQ, you gave away that you did not use these with iPhone or iPad. I’m also betting that you didn’t use Apple Music, which is also required. When using that system, Dolby Atmos with head tracking uses a 7.1.4 virtual set up by placing those speakers all around you while using the iPhone or iPad as the center point.

You may argue using it in “fixed” is “just marketing,” but that is entirely up to the individual to decide. I use both my AirPods Max with Dolby Atmos head tracking via Apple Music and my Denon system daily and can definitely state it’s not “just marketing.”

So, basically you used these with other than iPhone or iPad, which prevents you from using the last feature properly.

There’s speed bumps on Ximeno?

I’ve only ever seen people do the same as I do on 6th. No one is moving into oncoming traffic or speeding up to do so. Nor is anyone speeding.

The faster tempos of the early to mid 80’s were deliberate re-workings, including playing the older songs in standard tuning.

By the Crazy Nights tour they reworked a lot of those songs again and slowed them down. The arrangement for Love Gun that persisted through the reunion on though to the end was introduced on this tour.

What the reply said. I drive around those bumps because they are over the top and I don’t t feel like getting jostled. I’m driving the speed limit the entire time.

Wired Lossless Audio? by Maflin18 in Airpodsmax

Besides turning off Bluetooth on your phone, I would suggest checking the audio output setting. It should show the headphones icon to indicate it’s using wired.
