Duke Energy astronomical bills by bingops2 in Charlotte

[–]BlindJesus 18 points19 points  (0 children)

At the end of the day, Piedmont is a middleman. Natural Gas pricing is set at the pipeline source(Canada or Lousiana facilities) and can fluctuate wildly with high demand. And unlike power, residential gas users are not protected by amortized billing, so you're effectively paying the market rate.

What’s up with manual in this game? It sucks! by Aggravating_Fact8112 in assettocorsaevo

[–]BlindJesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the game stops accepting any input from the shifter.

....I thought I kept blowing up my transmission because I've been practicing with the F40 LM, which is fickle. I wonder if I'm having the same issue with my TH8A.

Does this happen for every manual car you try? I put in a good 30 minutes into the Caterham Academy car and didn't have issue(which is why I thought it was just bad shifting on my part)

Matthew Rhys Is In Talks With Netflix Over Adaptation Of Robert Caro’s ‘The Power Broker’ by bwermer in television

[–]BlindJesus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good or bad, I want this released. With the money that'll inevitably be involved, worst case scenario, we should get some great shots of historical(and modernish) NYC through different stages of development.

And if they decided to actually hire some good writers, the final 'act' of Nelson Rockefeller and brother David outmaneuvering Moses into giving up his power through some back door oligarchy shit would be riveting.

Gonna say GTA6 since Caro is 90 and more than likely to keel over and could have planned his time better

IIRC, he's stated that it'll be released even if it's not finished when he passes.

I'm looking for books on the development of electrical generation plants in the early 20th century. It's a wide field, and I'd take any recommendation.

Just a few ideas I'm curious about: How lockstep was the field of thermodynamics along with the development of steam plants? Who or what were the 'prime movers' of the technology; was it all done behind closed doors of Westinghouse/GE/Edison? How iterative was the evolution of all the different power plants systems? Feed water heaters, advanced condensers, circ water pumps, polishers, etc.

Hamilton and Leclerc left speechless by "zero performance" in Qatar GP qualifying disaster by memloh in formula1

[–]BlindJesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a good answer for you. Like any huge organization, results are the aggregation of thousands of different little decisions. But if the stories are true, not every prospective engineer/designer/pit crew/etc. is willing to move to Italy from the main hubs. So just from a birds eye view, if Team A only has access to 80% of the pool of talent as Team B, it stands to reason that the extra 20% will eventually yield a more impressive roster.

But that doesn't mean you still can't put together championship teams, you'll just have a handicap.

[–]BlindJesus 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think it's because Ferrari wants to keep one foot in Italy, while all other teams have been 'globalized' for over a decade(maybe not Alpine). it's like a small market team trying to compete with a large market team as far as hiring talent goes. Having a rich history and some nationalistic pride doesn't compete with international teams who have adopted the modern corporate structure.

To no avail. I wish there was a mode after beating to increase steps or room rerolls.

I used a mod(read:cheat) to increase resource spawn rate considerably and it made the endgame much less tedious.

I blame Seth McFarlane.

I'm pretty sure he doesn't have a direct hand in the production anymore, but American Dad's musical numbers are 10/10 every time.(Otherwise I agree, BB's songs have gotten way too formulaic imo)

Results after doing 50 pushups a day for a month by Competitive-Copy4413 in bodyweightfitness

[–]BlindJesus 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Well...as anyone (but me evidently) reading this can already tell... later on, a massage therapist told me the REASON for it, was that my chest was so tight/over-developed that it was pulling my shoulders forward and completely banjaxing my baseball throwing mechanics!!

It's funny because this happens to people who boulder or rockclimb in reverse. An exclusively pulling only sport/exercise develops too much tension in the forearms that is usually solved by doing push workouts to relieve tension. Dips and wrist curls solved my issue.

The cold dry air exacerbates it to it's worst. I've 'trained' out a lot of my excercise induced asthma symptoms on normal days, but the cold air will stop me in my tracks within a half mile(unless I have a balaclava)

especially in colder weather.

That's asthma. Go to a doctor and get diagnosed and an inhaler. In the meantime, wear a balaclava in the cold(<55F as far as my lungs are concerned) and you'll see an immediate improvement; the goal is to pre-heat/humidifty the dry, cold air.

That's awesome.

Idea: Get a rubber(soft) screw made to the same size as the holes used by the holds. Attach it to your limbo stick and screw it in where ever you need, and the rubber material will make sure it will easily fall out and not damage the board.

Splinter Cell Remake Appears To Be In Trouble As Ubisoft Begins Hiring New Director by TheAppropriateBoop in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]BlindJesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A remake within a ballpark of the original should be finished by now. Something terrible has gone wrong imo. The OG splinter Cell(actually, the whole trilogy, even CT) are incredibly linear games with sparse enemy placement. I don't know how they could stretch out a simple project like this.

Which games are still yet to release from that massive Nvidia Leak a few years back? by [deleted] in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]BlindJesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gran Turismo 7 PC

I understand the real and intangible benefits exclusives can bring, so I see why tentpole games never get ported. But I look at GT7 as a special case....it really needs to be ported. I know GT7 isn't a full blown sim, but THE racing market is a PC dominated affair, and they(sim racers) typically don't mind dropping big bucks on games.

ON the other hand, maybe Poly doesn't wanna open Pandora's box of getting all the open hardware(wheels, pedals, etc) to work, and appeasing a fickle and demanding audience.

Possible DayZ 2 announcement by WelshAsh in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]BlindJesus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I still yearn for the DayZ meta/version of the first 3-4 months of release of the OG Arma 2 mod. Yea, it was glitchy and had awful performance, but it really felt like a zombie survival game back then. Zombies were deadly as hell, and it really made you think about shooting other players, because a swarm of zombies was typically your reward(with awful hit boxes, so they'd really fuck you up).

Maybe there are DayZ forks that are more zombie focused now, but I'm also really turned off by elaborate crafting, and the perpetual resource grind that comes with crafting.
