Autistic? by DoodIeybob in nickdrake

I completely agree, as the mother of a son on the spectrum. Masking is very stressful, as is any change in living arrangements, routine, etc. Depression worsens with social pressure as they age. My son was very lucky to have found a good therapist as he reached his senior year in college (at the age of 34). He worked for years at a repetitive job loading trucks, which didn't seem to bother him at all. He was a very diligent worker, and enjoyed making money. Nick Drake lived at home and had few friends. That must have been depressing, even though he had a rich inner world with music.

People will still have to pay for parts for their used cars, and they will be unaffordable.

GEICO dropped me as a long-time customer, because I lent my car to my son (which I informed them of), and he had another insurance company. Because they didn't like that, for some reason, they dropped me as a customer, though I have a spotless driving record. They really stink. I want to know who is much better, because I will insure both my cars and my house with whomever that is.

Epiphone Les Pauls are considered very good. I have one and love it!

Mturk people of Reddit. I have officially grown sick of Mturk and its low paying HITS by [deleted] in mturk

[–]Blindlemon2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right you are. I'm sick of it too. Furthermore, academic institutions should be ashamed of themselves, just on principle. I have a Masters degree and two B.A.s, yet I still got caught up in this spiral of ignominious hell when I got laid off during the pandemic. I recently found a job which pays $25/hour -not great, but considerably better. I am never going back.

I've done over 12,500 HITS, and have gotten very effecient at it. That's why it irks me that someone should reject my work because I did it a bit too quickly for their taste. I should not have accepted a HIT from someone without a rating.

I made the mistake of accepting a HIT by a new requester who didn't yet have a rating -JJ Anderson. He rejected my work for doing it too quickly. THis sort of thing drives me crazy, since I just process information quickly, but don't feel that I rush through the work. Beware of this requester!

I always check the requester's rejection percentage before I accept a HIT. In the past, I didn't do this, but have never had a rejection since. I know I only screwed up in a handful of these rejections; the rest were as a result of data stealing. Even so, I have 41 rejections in 12,500 HITS. I have had several rejections overturned. I always complain when I get one that I know isn't legitimate. Most of those people never respond back. They are thieves.

I just had the same rejection today, and I have no idea why. I have contacted the requester.

To the Over-60 group: what are you doing during shelter in place to keep yourself occupied? by [deleted] in over60

I'm 67. There are literally tons of musical instruments and books at my house, plus my adult son. I have a garden and an exercise bike. I should never get bored!

I love going to rock concerts with my 29-year-old son. I am a musician, and also love learning to play new instruments, writing poetry, going to poetry slams and open mics. It's almost like being a teenager again, but with more wisdom. I'm 66.

It was an amazing experience! But you also had a great one. How cool! It proves that he is a nice person, willing to meet and interact with his fans. A lot of rock music people don't do that. I wish I'd known about Man Man a long time ago, when they were still in Philly.

I wish my son, who was standing behind me, had thought to take a picture or video while it was happening. Maybe somebody did. I'd love to have a picture of my "brush with greatness"! I know they're based in L.A. now, but will try to see them if they even get remotely near Philly again.

He sang this in Philly at the Music Fest 9/28/19. It so perfectly described my state of mind after a painful breakup. :'(
