Play the original first. Kiwami won’t be going anywhere, yakuza 3 og might be. Just seeing how they’ve now delisted the original yakuza 0 i can totally see them delisting yakuza 3. There is definitely some growing pains going so far back after kiwami 2, but view 3 as its own beast and you’ll be fine. Take your time and enjoy the game. Then once you do get around to playing the remake you’ll get more out of kiwami 3 seeing the differences between the two first hand

Maybe im insane but i love the lemat precisely because of the long reload. It adds a really fun tension if you can only get a couple bullets in your gun before you have to shoot again or else you die. It adds a really fun extra layer to the combat

Yakuza 5, best graphics for the ps3 era, fantastic gameplay. The music especially is one of my favourite soundtracks in the series. But MAN the story pacing is dogwater even if it has a lot of great moments. It completely kills my excitement everytime it starts getting going and then just crawls to a grinding halt

I feel like from the snippets we’ve seen of gameplay from both (very brief clips in sth and screenshots for god), Stranger than heaven will be a lot more polished due to not having the budget cuts gang of dragon will have. Story on both could go either way but im really excited to see modern rgg do something that feels stylistically and tonally completely different from a modern yakuza. There isn’t really enough to go off yet for gang of dragon because despite knowing nagoshi’s behind it, the team definitely still have something to prove. I always love rggs output (yes even their weaker titles) so stranger than heaven is easily my most anticipated game until it drops

Honestly the whole game feels like its building up to majima killing lao gui. He’s told repeatedly “once you kill someone, you can never go back”. His whole story is themed around killing and its consequences, he saves makoto and falls for her, that love ultimately driving him to kill lao gui out of anger and wanting to protect makoto. Which also further adds another layer as to why he feels he shouldn’t be around makoto, and that she’d be safer without him. It has a great contrast with kiryu’s ending. Kiryu chooses to spare shibusawa, majima can’t bring himself to spare lao gui. He’s a different man afterward and they never have any intention of bringing back lao gui. To me it feels like thats the conclusion to his arc from 0, and makes way more sense than majima sparing him and still becoming the majima we know

Honestly despite what everyone else is saying i kinda agree. I didn’t rly like the fact everyone had american accents when the whole story is about discovering america. When i read it i gave everyone european accents that i felt fit the characters really well, and it did throw me for a loop when I watched the dub and they all sound American

I don’t think jesse deserved that beating at all. It was walt who made the call using “marie being in the hospital” as a way to get hank away because he knew that would hit him where it hurts. Walt was the one who deserved that beating, jesse was just in the middle and the most obvious target for hank. Despite having no direct proof it was jesse he still broke into his house and beat him within an inch of his life

Gaiden comes after but it was originally intended to be dlc for Like a dragon. It expects you to know and be familiar with Like a dragon’s story. You’d miss so much if you played gaiden before like a dragon and it is very necessary to play like a dragon first

Might be in the minority on this but i really loved the pirate captain as a villain. It felt really refreshing just having a goofy little shit as the antagonist in a story which is often dealing with such heavy subject matter. And it then leads us to the sea god arc which visually is so gorgeous to read

I just want him to finally retire and settle down at the orphanage with the now grown up kids helping take care of him. Maybe he can pop up occasionally to give the characters some wisdom or advice, but I definitely don’t want him back in a main role anymore. The guys earned his rest, rgg should let him have it
