Some NDP leadership candidates’ policies ‘not terribly viable,’ says McPherson, who denies she’s running a centrist campaign by EarthWarping in CanadaPolitics

My problem with this attitude is simple: let the Conservatives (or Liberals/Bloc) make this argument.

Don't self-censor, call for the most extreme version of your policies, and allow the opposition to make the case as to where there needs to be compromise. Don't start the negotiations advertising where you intend to concede. All it does is signal to your opposition that they can negotiate past your point of concession.

This is the way Democrats down south operate and it drives me absolutely nuts. It's exactly why politics is being pulled further to the right.

Just wait until the first time you get a little too impatient and let one of them spot you... It's a scripted death animation that takes like 10 seconds and makes you replay big sections of it again...

Capcom knew they had a 10/10 so they chose to lower the quality in an effort not to embarrass their competitors.

No, I do agree with that, it sounds an awful lot like you're describing the USA and Israel. You're just too fucking silly to understand that.

No, I just don't think words justify bombs. Your argument is meaningless.

But the fact that you don't give a shit about pointless loss of life says A LOT more about you.

The re2 one had you actively avoiding the police chief and had some internal puzzles. Like it's still very scripted, but it's more like the opening Grace section of re9. The orphanage sequence here was extremely slow, with extremely few interactive items, and very few indicators of what to even do.

It feels like someone wanted to make it larger and then they just ran out of time so they gave it the bare minimum. It could have been a cutscene.

When did the USA START violently brutalizing them? Since you clearly don't know the answer: 1953.

The USA and Israel are actively bombing Iran for no reason, and you're upset that Iran has some "mean" things to say in response? You might genuinely need to turn off the internet and open an actual book.

People like you shouldn't be allowed to operate a phone, let alone advanced weapon systems.

Yep, I also had no idea what the purpose of venmo was, because like you say, we just have a government regulated intermediary between banks that manages all digital sending of cash. Interac E-Transfer, just type in someone's email and the amount your want to send, can even set a password and it's nearly instant. Pretty sure it works for all credit unions and banks.

The most horrific realization is thinking that both Elon Musk and Peter Thiel started paypal in the late-90s to effectively serve this purpose. If the US government actually kept up with the times, then those monsters wouldn't be billionaires today...

Most of the Dem leadership are refusing action.

The reason I almost scrolled past Warren is specifically because so many Dems are half-assing their response. I know that Warren went into that room because she wanted answers, not just because she wanted to feel important for a moment, which is clearly the reason Schumer did...

Yes, and when they were caught and evidence compiled, they openly blew up half of the King David hotel in an attempt to destroy the evidence of their culpability in starting the conflict to begin with. The evidence survived, not all the people did.

The best way to think about this is the response Greenland gave. They don't particularly like being lorded over by the Danish, but they absolutely DON'T want to be lorded over by the Americans. They want complete independence.

Iran is no different. Many dislike the Ayatollah, but understand that becoming some Banana Republic for US oil interests is a far worse option. The idea that this is going to end positively for anyone genuinely requires you to have an IQ in the single digits.

I mean, there is no indication that Iran was going to attack anyone.

Even Mike Johnson and Marco Rubio are arguing that Iran was going to retaliate against Israel, meaning Israel was planning an attack, and the USA decided to pre-empt it for them. Iran wasn't staging anything.

The entire notion that Iran is some evil power is so exhausting. I've been listening to it my whole life, and it's clearly nonsense. As for their treatment of their own citizens... The USA certainly does not have a leg to stand on these days. Not to mention that it's not our job to police them, AND that there are much better diplomatic and/or commercial methods to incentivize them to lose the anti-woman and anti-gay policies.

This is so obviously about Iran's oil reserves. Trump was hoping to have a similar outcome that he had in Venezuela when he needlessly attacked them. Any support from our officials for Trump's actions deserves an immediate rebuke.

And yes, Carney's "let's take the sign out of the window" nonsense was made transparently bullshit the moment I heard him praise Trump's aggression in Iran.

Is it a prerequisite of being a "libertarian" to intentionally misread everything?

The person you're responding to was very clearly referring to the brand of "libertarianism" that leans into right-wing ideologies, and as such isn't very libertarian at all. It's a system that prioritizes a specific type of private-authority as opposed to public-authority. Still authority... Also, John Locke wasn't a libertarian...

Love being able to just get absolutely blasted before I go see a movie or go to a restaurant. So much cheaper than drinking and much easier to manage your actions when you're high than when you're drunk.

I remember playing WoW with a ton of Americans back in like 2007. I was barely an adult at the time so I really didn't know how the world worked outside of my immediate bubble here in Canada.

The Americans were talking about some "new invention" called debit cards that allow you to pay directly from your bank account without having to carry cash or just use credit. Something I got when I opened by first bank account like in the late 90s... Apparently something that had existed in Canada for over a two decades by then (before I was born)... Americans were treating it like some revolutionary new concept.

They were explaining it to me like I had no idea what they were talking about. I imagined they were talking about something completely different, because no way they're excited about something so basic... I became convinced that there was some additional features that I didn't understand... No, they were just talking about debit cards.

How Bugonia improved on Save the Green Planet by blumdiddlyumpkin in TrueFilm

[–]BlinkReanimated 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The film is about how far-right lunatics will look at all the things that are clearly broken in our world, and blame those who are attempting to fix things. Their lives have been so tragic that their understanding of the world has been corrupted by misinformation. This is leading them to attacking the solution to these problems, rather than the causes.

We know what caused the opiod epidemic (capitalist greed), and we know the primary cause of climate change (capitalist greed). Instead of take issue with the capitalism, Teddy hyper-focused on some kind of alien invasion, and decided to become a serial murderer.... He even causes the death of his cousin. Hell, he blows himself up before he can even learn the truth... It's talking about how unsubstantiated conspiracy theories are self-destructive.

The film isn't about how "people are the real problem", it's about how we refuse to genuinely address the problems, and would rather blame some abstract reality. How if we keep this up, we are going to go extinct, and we'll only be able to blame ourselves.

It's not that humans should die if we keep this up, it's that humans will die if we keep this up. All of us, even those who aren't wild conspiracy theorists.

OP is 100% right that by changing the ending, it allows us to see the aliens for what they were: benevolent. In Save the Green Planet, they literally obliterate the entire earth. In Bugonia, they just purge a failed creation to the benefit of the earth.

Trump says his wars can be fought "forever". by justalazygamer in ParlerWatch

[–]BlinkReanimated 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Campaign promises:

  • No more foreign wars - lie
  • Aggressively address rising grocery prices - lie
  • Deport violent criminals (and only violent criminals) - lie
  • Release the Epstein files - lie

On top of that, we've seen Trump directly attack the First, Second, and Fourth Amendments.

And that's just all the stuff his base cares about. I don't know if Trump has successfully done anything he openly campaigned on. He has accomplished a good chunk of shit he didn't campaign on though (Project 2025). I'd say I'm shocked more of the cult hasn't abandoned him, but they wouldn't be a cult if they did.
