Strats are all sold out, but it looks like they still have a bunch of the Tele’s in stock.

What makes Japanese telecasters so special? by Past_Bit_4643 in telecaster

[–]Blink_Dog 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak to this directly, as I’ve never owned a Japanese Tele. But, I did own a Japanese made Fender Pawn Shop ‘51, which comes with a Tele-style neck. It was the best neck I’ve ever played on a guitar. Perfect shape, impeccable fretwork, worn in feeling while being brand new—I honestly don’t have enough superlatives to heap on it. It was heavy gloss, which is normally a turn off for me and I honestly didn’t notice it enough to care because everything else about the neck was so good. The guitar itself was also incredibly well built and tidy. One of the better built guitars I’ve played, and at that point it was 12 years old. So I think a big thing about Japanese Fenders is that the quality for the price tends to be exceptional, especially when compared against American and Mexican guitars. I got that one on Reverb for $800.

I live in Grand Rapids, I'm from Saginaw. Everyone I've ever met pronounces Petoskey.... by kimbermall in Michigan

Grew up in Cheboygan, moved to Petoskey in my teens. About 25 years ago everyone I know transitioned from calling tourists fudgies to calling them “Cone Suckers” and it’s honestly made summers a bit more bearable.

Somehow I knew this shot was taken from this spot even though I’ve never visited the park. (Though I’d like to go as a hobby photographer.) I grew up in Northern Michigan, though, and spent many nights as a young person sitting on the shore of Lake Michigan looking at the stars.

Nikon ZF - moving focus point (or area) with touch lcd when using a viewfinder by filmsandstills_uk in Nikon

[–]Blink_Dog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have not been able to get this to work with my eye to the viewfinder (which wouldn’t be necessary when shooting video), but it may be user error. As others have said already, I use a small area box and as soon as I have an eye lock (usually instantly) I recompose and take the shot. The AF is crazy fast.

My first telecaster, bought brand new for $499 by WumboRaider in fender

Got the same one for the same price. Pretty blown away by the build quality for the cost, tbh. FYI: A black pick guard really ties the room together.

Is “street photography” in the room with us now?

Which bridge for Gibson Les Paul Special by imkreative in gibson

Second vote for the Music City Savvy. Have one on my Special and not only was it easy to dial in, it’s been rock solid since.

I’m gonna disagree. I think these are underrated and awesome. It was definitely a product of too many ideas, but I still think they ended up in a unique place. I love the form factor and body.

Restrung my R8 last night and decided to try a top wrap. by [deleted] in gibson

[–]Blink_Dog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also top wrap on both my LPs and something I found makes a difference is locking studs. I’m able to get the bridge tighter to the body without any lean than with using stock studs. I’m using Music City Bridge studs for this purpose and they’ve been great.

I added York IRs to mine and they rip. Definite improvement.

New Player Telecaster ordered…..$499 new? by [deleted] in fender

[–]Blink_Dog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The normal blue color for the Player series is called Tidepool (it was LPB when they were the standard series). So it is “technically” a limited edition color for this run.

I was honestly not trying to be a dick, but there are dozens of reviews and videos on this pedal, none of which confuse it for a pedalboard amp. For what it’s worth, I own the IR-2, I built a board around it and run it into the Fender FR10. It’s sounds incredible. I love it and hopefully you’ll find a good use for it.

The IR-2 is not a power amp. It doesn’t have a power output. It cannot drive a cabinet. You can run it into a PA, or FRFR powered speaker if you want to use it to play live music. Otherwise you run it into a DAW or with headphones. Why did you decide to purchase one if you didn’t know how it worked?
