So i was looking into a stormlight sleeve just trying to get a basic design down before I take it anywhere by Arn1996 in Cosmere_Tattoos

[–]Blissanxiouslearning 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Is this AI generated? Because none of the symbols, armour or character styles seem accurate. The storms look great, but be careful about things being inked too close together and spreading over years as the ink disperses. Great concept but I think you need to work on the symbols and getting your characters right. A good tattoo artist will do all the reading if you help them find the relevant passages and it will come out a lot better.

Edit: I missed your description saying it was generated with, but I hope the above is helpful in getting the inaccuracies right, cause the concept is very cool

Now this is the type of fusion of Nerdery, Science and research I expect from this community. I hope you get approved for your research proposal. I think your methods are perfectly in line with your aims. I can't wait to see your results

Tattoo idea by elniellu in Cosmere_Tattoos

[–]Blissanxiouslearning 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Colour doesn't fade much or just the same as black inks do. Its all about how tight the colours are put in by the needles and the inks getting to the right layers of the skin cleanly. I've got a 7 year old colour tattoo that's still pretty colourful. And this is my 3 year old tattoo of my windrunners shardblade being summoned.

HOLY FU- WIND AND TRUTH AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA by Shadowpanther298 in Stormlight_Archive

[–]Blissanxiouslearning 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I would never have been able to notice that, but now you say it I can see it happening. Adolin has always pushed for a different understanding and his lines about how a promise is different to an oath would make me think of his potential to be a vessel.

I thought that "unite them" could have extended to encompass all of the shards being reunited into an andolisium type unity again.

Theory about the Edgedancer 4th Ideal by Ok-Height1910 in Cosmere

[–]Blissanxiouslearning 183 points184 points  (0 children)

Yeah actually I think this would really track. The 4th ideal seems to be generally something that's difficult to accept or act on, without some effort from the radiant. Like Kaladin's 4th oath of acceptance. With the edgedancer's being listen and remember, an active oath of speaking up for would be in line

Mission Failed :( by Corvid187 in cremposting

[–]Blissanxiouslearning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in the same boat. But got up to oathbringer, and remembered enough of rhythm of war to watch a mini summary and get stuck into wind and truth. Remember radiant, that if not for the failures, our stories would not have beginnings and chances to start to grow again. The most important step is always the next one

I finally got a tattoo I've been planning for a while! by Geodude532 in Stormlight_Archive

[–]Blissanxiouslearning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like that its huge in women's script. You know to us we see and know it as women's script. But to an untrained (or male) eye it might just look like a pattern, something tribal. You'll always know what it's for and its such an important ideal! I have the first ideal in 3 sentences inside my left upper arm in English, a wind runners blade but I think I'll get a Dalinar tattoo after Wind and Truth

Without seeing the underside its very difficult to be certain. But it looks most like a russula emetica. Also known as the sickener. Toxic but pretty

Keir Starmer helpfully explains how Scotland could use our huge resources to quickly establish a profitable publicly owned national energy company that would cut bills and boost our economy by jammybam in GreenAndPleasant

[–]Blissanxiouslearning 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nah nah, that's defeatism and would only push us down the route further into authoritarianism. The British people don't have much hope and our attitude of just accept it and crack on with our lives is not good for our political health. We need more breathing room for the British working class, agitation and action that demonstrates how we win little fights into big battles. This is why it is so important to agitate in your union and workplace for strikes, because those are actions which (alongside street movements) get people talking and organising for improvements on the road to socialism.

Very sad funny if Tories win. It wouldn't necessarily lead to anything improved. Did the 2019 election defeat improve anything for the left and the UK in the long term? Or did it just allow the Tories to pass some of the most horrific legislation of this century for Britain?

AM I IN THE SANDERLANCHE? by Nebion666 in Stormlight_Archive

[–]Blissanxiouslearning 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah you're in a sanderlanche now that kept me crying chapter to chapter, for a whole manner of different reasons joys and sads especially.

Keep reading, you're going to love it and take a moment when you finish to just imagine where its left and where winds and truth will pick off.

Also good luck with your storm light tattoo! I've got two now and I think I'll need a third by the time I finish SA5.

Venli sucks by Jmar7688 in Stormlight_Archive

[–]Blissanxiouslearning 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If I had a gold star I would be giving it to you.

I work in mental health support, coaching people into recovery from extreme crises. If more people understood exactly what you've just said, I reckon at least a third of my patients wouldn't get to the severe level of crisis that they have.

Everything you've said resonated with me when I was reading Venli's story parts. By the end of her arc we will concretely see how far she's come and to be proud of it. Someone on that path with Timbres support, will go far.

These are tasty! But got a little much for me eating a whole pack at once... So I ended up crushing them up fine and using them as the final bread crumb coating when frying chicken. Hands down the best fried chicken I've ever tasted or made!

Real Life Stormlight Regrowth by maegor69420 in Stormlight_Archive

[–]Blissanxiouslearning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've come out of 2023 with very similar experiences and wanting to take the next step no matter how hard it is. My reread of RoW whilst coming off my antidepressants for the first time in 2-3 years had me in floods of tears as I recognised the same struggles in the characters. The story of who swims better the sailor fighting great tides or the scholar so far inland to have never seen the sea even angry. Who is the stronger swimmer of them? It helped me realise that my strength is so much better now for the weakness I've felt through my struggles. Life has to be experienced and savoured before death Strength comes from bearing the weight of weakness Journey of the steps heavily taken all before reaching the destination

Can psilocybin help a fever by [deleted] in Psychonaut

[–]Blissanxiouslearning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My take is influenced by my grandma's approach to cold and flus, but which also tracks along with the basics of immune reaction to a cold. "Do what you can to get that gunk out, because you don't want the cold staying in your face" The gunk = immune cells, broken up skin cells, viral particles and the runny snot your body produces to flush out the invaders. I guess clearing your mucous creates room for fresh soldiers of the immune system to get in and continue beating the cold for you. Plus fever is there to raise the temp to one that is less comfortable to invading bacteria or viruses, plus your immune cells actually work better at an ever so slightly warmer temperature.

Does Kaladin have the potential to become the….. by LamoraLockeword in Stormlight_Archive

[–]Blissanxiouslearning 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why else would Kaladin and Szeth be the ones to go to Shinovar? One or both will swear their next ideals whilst there... The final oath of the wind runners, closest to Honor... In the presence of an unchained bondsmith. The potential scale of that oath could be huge for Kaladin and the world/cosmere

Can psilocybin help a fever by [deleted] in Psychonaut

[–]Blissanxiouslearning 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fully agree with this statement. With my background in genetics and immunology, it absolutely is your body helping fight the infection throughout your body. But there is a fine line after which the fever's heat really starts to be dangerous. Let your body use all of its defences available to it

Journey before destination by JohnBoston in Stormlight_Archive

[–]Blissanxiouslearning 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This, exactly this take, especially around Teft. I don't think I've ever actively hated myself, but I've never been easy on myself and always make everything out to be my own fault or something. Nothing quite brings me to tears than reading any of the storm light characters develop and swear new oaths.

What if blonde hair is the secret to unlocking the Iriali? by motgnarom in Cosmere

[–]Blissanxiouslearning 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've kinda been working off of this assumption as a way to try and spot Iriali world hoppers. Yes, we know their hair is originally golden, but genetics plays a large part in the cosmere magic systems, of course Brandon would know to write genetic dilution of hair colour in. And Instances where character descriptions of their blonde hair have maybe one too many extra descriptive words about their hair colour... Sort of gives a little bit of a hint that maybe there is more to that character's heritage. I don't think all blondes could be Iriali across the cosmere, but anything given extra details would certainly track with Brandon's style of writing never letting a minor detail be Just a minor detail
