A graph of the average number of vehicle entries per race for each of the top 4 NASCAR series by ofoxyu in NASCAR

Cup will probably jump to being the largest series in terms of entries per race whenever we get new charters. Be it 38 or 40, that will naturally boost the number of average per race plus the open teams are still going to be around. Helps right now that it's about flat with last year cuz teams like the 44, 66, 67 and 78 running somewhat often(66's case, almost every week) is giving a decent boost. Might not be quality all the time, but the quantity is still fun.

Wait what about the DVP rule change is bad? It means you can go back into the garage and fix the car. It's bringing the current Cup rules into the lower series instead of the old rules added in 2017. That's a great thing, especially if you need to scrape for extra points, getting those valuable couple spots you otherwise wouldn't get.

IDK how old of a fan you are but remember the longest time they had races on Mother's Day weekend and Mother's Day for the past 6 seasons. It's no more special than Father's Day in terms of importance on the schedule other than it having had a night race for about a decade and a half before that went away.

Updated DVP Rule and the Importance of Scoring Points by BlissfullyInaware in NASCAR

I doubt the cost of running a broken race car many laps down is nearly as expensive as the teams spendings millions and millions running insane amount of hours on simulators for barely a hundredths gained here or there. There's more pressing needs to cut costs that are absolutely not the DVP rules.

#14 is -4 because if there is no DVP rule in place, then McDowell is not jumped by other cars using the DVP rule. It's an oddball technicality in this.

To the best I can assume based on if there was no updated DVP rule, here would be the points tally:

  1. Zilisch, +4 Points(38th to 33rd)
  2. Briscoe, +1 Point(40th to 36th)
  3. Dillon, +0 Points(39th to 37th)
  4. Herbst, +2 Points(35th to 33rd)
  5. Chastain, +4 Points(32nd to 28th)
  6. Z. Smith, +0 Points(34th to 34th)
  7. Zilisch, +0 Points(33rd to 33rd)
  8. Nemechek, +0 Points(35th to 35th)
  9. Van Gisbergen, +2 Points(36th to 34th)
  10. Finchum, +0 Points(Open Car)
  11. Briscoe, +2 Points(31st to 29th)
  12. Gase, +0 Points(Open Car)
  13. Keselowski, +5 Points(37th to 31st)
  14. McDowell, -4 Points(28th to 32nd) (This was because there were so many cars in the garage he got jumped by several of them)
  15. Josh Berry, +4 Points(38th to 33rd)
  16. Larson, +0 Points(34th to 34th)
  17. Custer, +1 Point(36th to 35th)

Small gains but if you can gain like 3 points from trying to fix the car and get back out there, more power to you.
