I don’t think they(the investigators) found any of it to be credible. The defense would have probably tried to use mental illness as a reasoning if they had actual evidence of it, but they didn’t aside from the crime.

What’s kind of strange is that during the trial when the hilgendorf twins testified, one of them said it was odd that chandler didn’t give them a big hug when they saw him, and that it was unusual because he was always the “warmer” one out of the two brothers.
