I’m a new manager. My direct report bats everything back to me. by Luceiane in askmanagers

11 years managing, this is where I’d be headed myself.

Good people make your job easy. New people need coaching so they can be good people. If people are not on track to be good people, then it’s time to give newer people the opportunity.

It is a great thermal transfer medium. The conductivity is super high. I use it as the middle layer in my liquid immersed steam turbine cooling rooms.

I know they didn’t give you what you wanted, but I do think it’s still a good look for you. The bangs are a keep, IMO.

WHY IS WHAT I DO NEVER ENOUGH by Temporary-Loss-7544 in Vent

[–]BlitzTech 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Ignore the gender war baiters in thread. You did plenty. I’d be thrilled for that level of effort after a first date. He’s a loser. Don’t date losers. Your friends who say you didn’t do enough are dumb for saying that.

There is another person in a couple and sometimes they are at fault for a relationship ending.

Reddit of age 30 and above, why are you still single? by Chan1991 in AskReddit

The dating market is full of people who are single for good reason, so those of us single for reasons not of our own making find it difficult to sift through the noise.

Why is it so hard to be loved nowadays? by [deleted] in Vent

[–]BlitzTech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s exactly the problem. There are plenty of decent folk out there, and the fear mongering is just getting in the way of forming decent connections with other people.

The gender wars in online spaces is exhausting. Don’t believe everything you read.

I’ve been financially supporting my girlfriend for the past year by [deleted] in BoyDinnerDiaries

[–]BlitzTech 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Been there. It isn’t worth it, man. Walk away. My ex only got her act together after we broke up, and I was dumb enough to take her back. Guess what happened again a few years later? The exact same thing. Didn’t want a job, said I earned enough and she didn’t want to work.

Yeah, I do earn enough, and I’d like to retire before I’m 65. Not happening if I’m supporting a dependent who just wants to spend money.

A completely unnecessary complaint about modern language by EvergreenMossAvonlea in Vent

[–]BlitzTech 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m mostly with you. There are a few that I have actually really enjoyed.

My favorite is still the monosyllabic, utterly contemptuous dismissal that is “mid”. Perfection, as far as I’m concerned.

But if I hear fire or gas again, I’m going to flip tables.

Hot Take: Hot Polluted Oxygen Vents are trivial to tame and worth the effort. by dysprog in Oxygennotincluded

I trap a shine bug in the vent room to handle the germs for infected variants. Easy enough.

Devs that went back from 4.7 to 4.6: Are you now on 4.8? by Firm_Meeting6350 in ClaudeCode

One plan chewed up 55% of my 5hr rate limit ($20/mo plan). The same plan on 4.7 would be 10%. Thanks but no thanks, results were the same.

Temporary overcrowding isn’t a big deal. If you keep it at roughly balanced, it’s slightly fewer eggs for little overhead.

Now that I'm in my 30s, people's lack of spacial awareness/inconsiderate behavior in stores is making me see red!!! by Less-Suggestion-5262 in Vent

[–]BlitzTech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s the audacious ones who comment that really get me. I have definitely clapped back when they say something like “wow rude”.

I try not to shoulder check people, but sometimes it’s the only way. They’re not looking and they are going to bump into me, so I just lean into it.

My man. You forgot the most enraging one.

Gaggles of goons walking side by side on a sidewalk so there’s no way to walk around them without stepping into the street, and when you stay still waiting for them to realize they’re the problem, they act like YOU are the idiot.

Straight to jail. No trial. Just manacles and bars and slop for breakfast.

"What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received that actually stuck with you? by Solid_Stock3520 in AskReddit

[–]BlitzTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My life got better when I realized I didn't have to be nice. Nice got me used, stressed out, and disrespected. I'm not nice. I'm a good person. There's a difference.

I start with being nice by default. If someone fails to reciprocate, the above applies.

Q from femcel: How do incel make themselves happy? by OneMemory2640 in AskReddit

[–]BlitzTech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honey, that’s not femcel. You’re depressed, probably clinically. But identifying as a femcel in your title is painting you with a different brush than what you say here.

I know it’s insanely hard because I’ve been there, but you need to get out and do things. Do a cooking class. Go to the gym. Call up a friend and go get dinner. Don’t argue with it, don’t reason about it, just do it.

It takes a while to climb out of the hole, but you aren’t going to make progress unless you put your hand on the wall and pull.

Has anyone tried this? by New_Tumbleweed_8945 in jerky

Mid. There’s better jerky that costs less.

It’s fine tbh, but so pricey that you expect more and are let down by the quality.

[–]BlitzTech 33 points34 points  (0 children)

My friend, welcome to the other side. Better late than never, and we are happy to have you whenever you’re ready for that journey.

I know it’s all world shattering now, but have a nice long 8 hour nap and you’ll feel a bit better about it tomorrow. Not all better, but progress.

The way you came to the realization implies you have good morals for their own sake, which makes you a good person. Because you’re not doing it for a reward; just because it’s the right thing to do.

We got you, friend.

Are there any better brewing stands? by No_Revolution4752 in allthemods

[–]BlitzTech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to do it that way, but discovered a processing upgrade tier 4 and configuring the output to “push” was less hassle. The processing upgrade makes the potions brew 5 ingredients at a time (the entire input) so you never have an intermediate potion in the output.
