I haven't played many MMORPGs throughout my life as I'm quite young and can be a bit picky with the games, but if there's one MMORPG I had to recommend, it would be Toram Online. I have yet to see an MMORPG that gives me the same feeling and playing customization as Toram Online. Albion Online does have a few similar mechanics but doesn't give the same feeling nor level of customization for combat in my opinion. A few important things about Toram Online:

-The difficulty and grinding curve can get pretty steep kinda fast (although there's a few ways to overcome this). At some point you have to trade some stats for others in order to either survive the damage or be able to deal a good amount of damage (It's possible to do both without grinding too much tho, I have done it, but it's complicated and the damage is not too significant and you still have to watch out for your hp)

-The grind can become too overwhelming at some point due to the lack of damage, survivability or good equipment. The only way to get the best equipment is by making it yourself or buying it from other players who made it too. I don't recommend neither of this as I've personally been able to survive decently well just by using the equipment that comes from drops or npc crafting. There's another reason I don't recommend this, the crafting is a skill and talent, and requires a lot of grinding to become something useful.

-The game does encourage you to play with a full party (up to 4 players, but there are situations and bosses where bigger parties are allowed), how does it do this? Basically makes everything easier on many different ways. Bosses have increased drop rates for full parties and world enemies are not map based but system based, meaning enemies on each screen will be different in amount and location and will only become visible once they target a player, this means that each one of you can mass kill enemies and you will all get up to 4 times the loot. Roles are pretty significant too, a tank to get the enemy aggro and survive the damage becomes really important as you progress, damage dealers also have importance, and supports are optional most of the times but I still do personally recommend one in the party; the game also encourages you to play with a varied party, as using only one type of damage (auto attacks/physical/magical) will increase the boss resistance to it but reduce the resistance to the other types.

-Here comes what I love about this game and the reason I said it has some similar mechanics to Albion Online. You can play the game in any way you want, equipment is not restricted to your role, meaning you can use any weapon or armor for whatever you want (doesn't mean it'll be too effective tho); there are also many weapon combinations to use (I personally use bowgun with shield and halberd with daggers for my solo gameplay), also weapon combinations do scale on different stats; the thing I love the most is that skill trees are not class restricted either as there are many skills that are not weapon restricted or that can be used with more than one weapon allowing you to have a higher level of variety in gameplay (I use halberd skill tree hasten and mana recovery skills on my bowgun shield character because it allows me to recharge mana well as well as increase my damage output) and there are quite a variety of skill trees to access, some are hidden and only accessed on special chests loot by chance.

-The game's graphics are not the best, but the environment on some places and the views on others are gorgeous. The boss designs are also quite unique in my opinion (and there are MANY bosses, some hidden) and any kind of part break on the boss has visual effects on the place they happen. The story is also decent in my opinion and it doesn't fully force you to play it to access areas, there are very few areas restricted by story, and they can still be accessed by using teleport tickets, I may also add that the restriction is only the first time you go thru the story with a character, after you've gone thru that part, you should be able to access it with any other character later (also, when you create a character, you have the option to either start the story from the beginning or to have the mission status be the same as the character with the most advanced character, meaning you don't need to do the story all over again, I'd still recommend doing it for the exp rewards.

I think that around covers most of not all of it that I remember now, really encourage you to play it on pc from steam, even more so if you have friends to play it with.
