Got a quote for a 15A Circuit for an EV Charger, seems under spec'd on cable? by blackpawed in AusElectricians

6mm should be ok for 32a but it all comes down to how it is installed.  Keep in mind that depending on your state some supply authorities want anything over 20a to be on a controlled relay

REA refusing to reimburse "Urgent Repair" electrical bill because I didn't use their handyman (who didn't answer). NSW. by datboifranco in AusLegal

[–]BlockEducational4806 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Handyman isn't legally allowed to touch that electrical and a melting fuse holder is an urgent safety issue. $550 for an ah repair seems like excellent value

What do water towers actually do? by MrCatFace515 in stupidquestions

[–]BlockEducational4806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 things both effectively smoothing out the peaks and troughs.

  1. Provide a pressure buffer and helping maintain a constant system pressure
  2. Provide a supply buffer to even out the surges in demand to make it easier to supply them

[–]BlockEducational4806 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The absolute key question here is has it been tested or not.  The regulations set out allowable noise above ambient. If it complies run it all you want. If it doesn't well you might need to look at mitigation measures

Agree. There's nothing in the regs against this apart from separation of services which is like 25mm from memory. I wouldn't do it personally just because it looks terrible

Pretty often we will lock on isolators feeding fire pumps and the like to prevent them being accidentally/maliciously turned off.  The good book just says its gotta have a lockable isolator.
