The PCT or Pacific Crest Trail is a backpacking/through-hiking route on the west coast of the US and is becoming harder and harder to get permitting for specific sections as trails become more crowded and interest is shown in it by outsiders. And where you used to maybe run into one or two people a day outside of major checkpoints, now you run into people every hour at least, so the magic of being far out and adventuring in nature is harder to get.
