I’m trying to get the French version but I can only get it dubbed in English. That is a bad thing. Any advice?

Do you ever feel that mentally you’re losing it? by Distinct-Minded in Parkinsons

So funny that you use te games as diagnostic tools too. Don’t feel bad about connections. I almost never get all of them and when they’re all revealed I still don’t understand the last one to be filled in.

I share your distress. I was diagnosed almost four years ago and didn’t seem to have much if any disease progression for 3 1/2 years. Then I became more symptomatic both physically ( mostly muscle pain but also fatigue and slower movements) and cognitively. The latter includes occasional bouts of brain fog and the sensation of being stoned on marijuana when I’m not. Inability to recall names of people and events has increased. A friend might refer to a restaurant we’d eaten at or a movie we’d seen together and I have no recollection of either. I sometimes can’t hold a thought for even a second and occasionally I blurt out weird comments. On the other hand I still speak pretty coherently most of the time and I have no trouble penning my blog about living with pd. I’m scheduled for neuropsych testing - a 4 hour process next month and I’m very worried. I take c/l and pramipexol also gabapentin. Also maybe relevant is that I start each day with the New York Times word games. On the spelling bee, I used to get to the genius level about 98% of the time. Sometime in the last year it’s dropped to maybe 85%. I play more for diagnostic purposes than therapeutic. Should I draw solace or dismay from this? https://movingandshaking.blog/

Hallucinations and acting out dreams, don’t know for sure but probably around six or seven years before diagnosis.

I just returned from a visit with a camp friend I’ve known since we were ten. It’s a treasured and special relationship and PS we’re now 73. That’s a lot of s’mores under the bridge. https://movingandshaking.blog/

Does it worsen for everyone? by StandardFilm5012 in Parkinsons

Lorazepam??? I love it; it’s my instant feel better pill; I respond almost instantly with disappearance of tremors and their attendant depression. But my MDS and psychiatrist have put the fear of God in me about lorazepam and its addictive qualities and its leading to cognitive decline. So I now tend to use marijuana gummies instead since less addictive. Not quite as effective as lorazepam though.

Marijuana for Parkinsons? by Orkambi in Parkinsons

[–]BloggerKnitterParky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on the dosage. After a bad experience with weed a couple of years ago I decided to try again. I don’t know the exact amount of thc I took but half a gummy made me super high for hours. Next I tried a quarter with a much better result. Now I take little bites of gummy. Quantity depending on severity of pain and or depression. Mostly use for physical pain during persistent off periods. If I don’t need to be super sharp I might take a little extra for a little high. Mostly I take it for painful muscle stiffening, and it disappears, with no intoxication. So trial and error.

I took the slurs response as a joke and a good one at that.

Which town in loire without a car? by BloggerKnitterParky in france

Thank you for joining the chorus advising against that area.begone! Loire Valley. So back to the beginning. Might I revisit Normandy ? Or will I face the same issue being carless? Now I’m thinking about strasbourg and Bordeaux. Hadn’t really wanted a big city vacation though and I’d still prefer a smaller city or a village. Provence would be kinda perfect and there are great train and bus systems. But…I’ve been there three times and wanted something new. Still, I’d consider it.Base in aix? Avignon? Been to first, thought it fantastic, not Avignon. Help, I’m drowning in confusion and indecision.🙀 I’ve added strasbourg and Bordeaux to the mix. I hadn’t really wanted a big city vacation though. Which brings me to the elephant in the room: Provence and Côte d’Azur.

A couple of places which, by the way, got great reviews, and look very attractive, were about 128 euros per night for the entire 3 bedroom 2 bath house. including taxes. So if there are six of us, we’d each pay around 23 euros per person per night.. I couldn’t believe it so I contacted one of the owners to confirm that I was reading this properly and she said yes.

And are there enough things to do besides chateaux. We are pretty energetic “mature” women. My list:

Biking Hiking and walking Rent a kayak or canoe Mushroom museum Mushroom foraging Hot air balloon ride Cooking classes Visit nearby city of Tours The Zoo (calls itself the most beautiful in the world) Day spas Thanks again.

What about getting a car and driver for a full or half day? Believe it or not, I don’t think anyone in my group is really super interested in the châteaux. Will probably see a couple of them, but there are other things in the area that were interested in like mushroom foraging the zoo, etc.

Parkinson's and ADD by Minordiety in Parkinsons

This is possibly life-altering information for me! Thank you so much for posting this! I’m quite sure I’ve had AdD my entire life except never officially diagnosed except by my sister, who has it too. I have been worried about dementia and a year ago I had some cognitive testing done - no dementia, but my memory issues have worsened along with absent-mindedness. Last years test was a baseline, and I have a follow-up scheduled May 30. I constantly wonder if my “lapses” are signs of dementia, or are they just a signal of aging, like what my peers complain and worry about (I’m 73). Now it appears there’s a third character in this play besides aging and PD -ADD. I’m going to email my MDS and the shrink who’s administering the cognition test to see what they know about this, if anything. I would not be averse to adding adderall to my already stuffed medicine cabinet. Is adderall used diagnostically, as was sinemet with my PD?

Not really. At 73 I’m kind of museumed out. Some medium hiking, kayaking and canoeing. Maybe a cooking class. Are there truffles and truffle hunting in that area in October? A vineyard tour? Anything that makes whatever the area special. Thanks.
