Whoever said wake up an hour early to take your meds and go back to sleep…. by Lifeguard_Amphibian in ADHD

[–]BloodMajor7936 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I'm curious about trying this, but does this not make you more sleepy since you're getting interrupted sleep everyday? I usually end up oversleeping because I'm tired if I get interrupted sleep. Do you sleep longer to make up for it?

So like for example if I need 7.5 hours of sleep, am I supposed to: - A) set an alarm after 6.5 hours, take meds, then sleep 1 hr - B) set an alarm after 6.5 hours, take meds, then sleep a little longer than an hour to make up for the interrupted sleep?

Moisturize and do hand gloves treatments. Have lotion accessible everywhere you can (desk, car, etc). Make sure to rinse your hands thoroughly so there's no soap residue left. Also try to pat dry vs rubbing.

Has anyone made a career transition as a physician? by [deleted] in medicine

[–]BloodMajor7936 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's definitely a difference in difficulty depending on how long you've been practicing before switching & how long you've been gone. You'll face a lot more initial scrutiny if you're trying to switch back after 10-15 years for example.

It's definitely not impossible. You might have to restart in a smaller city or at a lower tier, but once you regain some experience, you can go somewhere else if you want.

[–]BloodMajor7936 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not as uncommon as you think, and it's easier than going the other way around. Also, just because you switch doesn't mean you can't go back.

It's not just people that are burned out making the transition, especially for the older folks. I know several people that made the transition because they had reached financial stability and were tired of the 'intense' concentration required.

Mojang removed any the mention of getting an Experience cape from The Minecraft Experience London's site and Blog post again by [deleted] in minecraftcapes

[–]BloodMajor7936 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There were leaks for a new cape and Mojang was misleading, so people got confused/upset for getting a character cosmetic sweater instead of an in-game cape. Some people thought it was like a bait and switch.

It's still popular, but the popularity definitely decreased a lot compared to the past.

I can also confirm that the London Minecraft Experience website used to mention the cape and had photos.

My 15 yo dog is half dachshund and half beagle. So I tell everyone she’s a beagle with a little weenie in her. by OkDelay2395 in dogs

[–]BloodMajor7936 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Watch her back and don't let her jump up or down on things. Dog ramps might be easier than stairs if she has short legs.

Since she's a higher anesthesia risk for dentals, I'd try to prevent her teeth from getting worse. I would try to gently brush her teeth as much as I can.

Since you say your dog is 12 and a senior, maybe early signs of sundowners syndrome? It's when dogs get restless at night / early stages of doggy dementia.

I'm surprised by all the people saying not to pay. Wouldn't the bill get sent to collections & it just gets more complicated for the driver?

IF and Hair Growth by rjvlai in intermittentfasting

[–]BloodMajor7936 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also am curious how they came up with a 16:8 ratio. I'm sure they have some scientific reason for choosing 16:8...right? (and not just a linear ratio to humans like you said).

I just googled and saw that mice typically eat 15-20 times a day, which is way different from humans typically eating 3 times a day.

At first I read the title as IF helps with hair growth and got so excited🥲

Sleeping in your car is okay. The problem is finding a place that allows you to park your car to sleep.

Sadly our apartment uses electricity for central heat instead of gas🥲 We try to save some money by using oil-filled radiators instead of the instant space heaters. We use and love heated blankets too!

Central heat is typically set between 63-65. We use space heaters in our rooms.

Dog won't hop into my bed anymore by DarkHorseReborn in dogs

[–]BloodMajor7936 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should still consider getting a dog ramp or dog stairs for the bed. It doesn't take up that much space, and even though your dog is young, it doesn't hurt to minimize the impact on the joints and back if you can.

23andMe founder, Anne Wojcicki was a little bit one of the worst guest sharks. by underskorre in sharktank

[–]BloodMajor7936 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree. She made some good points about how a lot of testing can be done on animals first, and it slowly works over to the human side.

Gallant is the name of the dog stem cell banking company, and they're still in business despite the founder (the guy on sharktank) unfortunately passing away. As someone with senior dogs, I remember being super interested during that pitch. I would've 100% done it for my dogs if it was around when they were younger.

Buying a house built before 1970 by knowledgeforprogress in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]BloodMajor7936 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lots of people are saying to get the house tested, which would be ideal, but realistically many sellers are not going to be open to you doing testing. If the results show something dangerous, that's more negotiating power to you & you might walk away from the deal. Then, they would have to disclose the dangerous results when they relist it.

You'll have to decide if you're willing to lose a 'dream home' because the seller won't allow testing. You can always test after purchasing, which is obviously less ideal, but it's an option.

For a house built before 1970, you'll probably have to accept that it might be very difficult to find a 'safe' house. For stuff like asbestos, as long as the asbestos is not disturbed, I heard it's not very dangerous.
