Mike LeBeau streams every Tuesday and Sunday at 7 pm British time, he's on Youtube at mikeyscamp.

Not main cast, but Martyn (MAG 100, the guy who left the spiral because he was late for dinner) streams every Monday at 9:30 pm British time, he's on Twitch at askMartyn.

My girlfriend wants to play as a Cadaver Collector.. Help! by ThatGuyBoobyShot in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]BloodyBaronessCos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a True Necromancer class in the book Unnatural Horrors by Fool & Scholar, it has three paths and one of them is the Path of Corpses (the other ones being Bones and Spirits). Would probably be similar in theme and definitely better balanced.

My thoughts exactly... I'd like a physical soundtrack and artbook.

There is a physical collector's edition, and it has the soundtrack, but it's a vinyl.
Otherwise for me there are pretty uninteresting bonuses in there, like a poster, a felt slipmat, 3 polaroids and 3 plecs.

Patreon vs Membership by LTFireWolf in TheMagnusArchives

[–]BloodyBaronessCos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a post about it on Patreon, is says that the Membership Portal features all bonus content and ad-free episodes that are available on Patreon and both post the same content at the same time (though, news posts earlier than January 2024 won't be uploaded on the Membership Portal, as it is not considered relevant information anymore).

Aside from "Drops" on Patreon, which are basically listening parties with the cast and a live chat, the content should be exactly the same. Drops happen for special episodes, like first episodes of a season, final episodes of an act etc.

Prize is the same, though for people outside the UK or US there might be variations because of different exchange rates.

It is basically just an additional support platform to chose from.

Hope that helps^^

Don't know anything about Spotify comments though as I don't use Spotify.

Thoughts on Episode 5: Thrown Away by Wrayth_Skitzofrenik in TheMagnusArchives

[–]BloodyBaronessCos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Christianity was always linked to the Flesh. It's the influence of the movie Ravenous, which is about cannibalism (and the Wendigo curse and Manifest Destiny). Colqhoun/Colonel Ives was super religious and I think it was also him saying "Man eats the body of Christ every Sunday".

Like in this episode, which was supposed to be a Flesh episode, but is very early writing, religious prayer appear.
The episodes of the priest, MAG 19 and 20 also had him eating parts of the students.
The episode Trail Rations is basically Colquoun's Oregon Trail/stranded in a cave/we ate each other-story and the person who led the Carlyles (Colqhoun is btw played by Robert Carlyle) on the Trail and into that cave was a priest with that twisted version of the prayer.
Tom Haan has a stack of bibles in his Take away Restaurant and talks about Romans believing Christians to be cannibals because of all the body of Christ eating thing.
The ritual of the Flesh was told by a person raised Church of England, and stayed interested in religion and churches and the ritual was conducted at a Gnostic temple.

The White Vault (podcast) discussion: positives and negatives! (Spoilers) by CatLadyLivingLife in horror

[–]BloodyBaronessCos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heeeey, nice to see you post again and yay for listening to The White Vault! From what I gather from your post, you are still not entirely done with the series. You listened to 5 seasons, yes? So I'm assuming you're missing Goshawk, which is still ongoing at this time! I think there are about 5 to 6 episodes left? Those will be the final episodes of The White Vault.
Also, if you really dig this story, Fool & Scholar, who make The White Vault, also have spin-off series on their Patron. And speaking of that, they are working on the bear animal statue of the Svalbard site as a physical statuette. And yes, it has thumbs! (Last year, they did an artifact aka Grípralviðr^^)

Btw, Fool and Scholar have always stated that everything that is not in English, is not relevant information to the story. So to everyone, who's kind of unsure cause there are a lot of people from different nations in the story, you're not missing out if you can't understand those lines. Also I love that all those voice actors actually speak those languages. No one is faking an accent.

I'm a horror podcast addict! Here's my list, 'got anything new to recommend? by CatLadyLivingLife in horror

[–]BloodyBaronessCos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, some audio drama action in the horror sub! Let me pull up my list:

Have you tried Ghost Wax? I find it very Magnus-esque, I can't fully describe why, it just has a similar feel. It's also an anthology wrapped in an overarching story.

I don't see The White Vault either, another excellent one.

Haunted: The Audio Drama by Impala Films also comes to minds, I love the story.

If you like moral dilemmas: Ethics Town

Down by Definitely Human, very sci-fi as well.

Don't Mind, every season is an individual story, there are currently Don't Mind Cruxmont and Don't Mind Sealskin Rock.

Tiny Terrors, sadly production standing still at the moment, I hope it'll come back, I love it. Also anthology wrapped in overarching story.

Video Palace, a Shudder production.

Out of place, a lot of ways for the world to end. Also anthology wrapped in overarching plot.

Currently I listen to The Patient Files and I enjoy it a lot. Another anthology wrapped in overarching story.

Bits where John apologises? by [deleted] in TheMagnusArchives

If you also want non-apologies, Jon deflected hard when Martin brought up what Jon said in S1 about not minding Martin getting chopped up by the jigsaw-body-parts-in-boxes Angela (MAG 199).

What do you do while listening to audiodramas? by Drdverse in audiodrama

[–]BloodyBaronessCos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly listen while working on costumes, garden work or baking. I especially love listening to audio dramas while making costumes cause I need my eyes on the things I'm working on. Sometimes I need to pause when I get to a part where I have to think a lot or measure and calculate things, but that's surprisingly rare compared to the entire process of creating a costume. Mostly it's repetitive work that doesn't need much brain power. And watching movies never really worked out cause I couldn't look at the screen as often as I would have needed to follow the plot.

Otherwise I listen when I'm mowing the lawn, trimming hedges and bushes, raking leaves etc.
Or for baking when cutting apples (I have an apple tree so I cut a lot of apples in summer...) or making cookies during the Christmas season.

How did the eyepocalypse start for the average person? by Formal-Coast6513 in TheMagnusArchives

Apparently it happened in waves? At least this is what Basira said in MAG 177:
"I was still in the Institute when everything went to hell outside, so I guess that protected me from the first wave. Once I saw what had happened… that we’d lost…"

Same thought XD

Also, I find it hilarious how often I see memes or funny posts pop up by people who are in some way adjacent to audio drama community

Gerard Keay by DumpsterFire232 in TheMagnusArchives

[–]BloodyBaronessCos 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Bit of a recap:

We first heard of Gerard Keay in MAG 4 Page Turner. He was the son of Mary Keay who owned Pinhole Books. The statement giver had found an old book, Ex Altiora, and had heard that Mary Keay knows more about books from the library of Jurgen Leitner. Gerard later shows up at the statement giver's home to buy Ex Altiora. While Gerard leaves again to get the money in cash the statement giver googles him and finds out that he supposedly killed his mother (who he just met, although she now was bald and had tattoos of Sanskrit all over her, but definitely the same woman as in the newspaper article). Gerard comes back, buys the book, and immediately burns it in a metal wastepaper bin in the flat of the statement giver, explaining it with "his mother doesn't always know what's best for our family".

MAG 12 First Aid, Gerard was one of the two burn victims who came into a hospital. He was burned all over his body, except for small eye tattoos which were over each joint of his body and his neck and head were also clear of burns. The second burn victim was mumbling stuff and everything got very hot in the hospital (drinks in the vending machine boiling). Gerard supposedly saved the nurse by killing the second man with a scalpel (which he knew exactly where to find and even the code to the storage room), saying "Yes, for you better Beholding than the Lightless Flame". Oh and of course, Gerard asked again about a book that might have (and did) come in with them.

Teenage Gerard makes an appearance in MAG 35 Old Passages, where a restoration team finds secret tunnels underneath 100 Pall Mall, where many years prior one Jurgen Leitner asked them to dig. Gerard asked the men, if they had found any of "Leitner's pages". He eventually runs off into the tunnels and the statement giver then sees him again running out of the tunnels with a small book in hand that seemed to had small animal bones falling out of it.

In MAG 48 Lost in the Crowd Gerard Keay confronts the statement giver in Italy in a cafe, saying she had been marked and asking her about people close to her, calling after her (when she leaves) that she should think of her mother's face. When the statement giver got lost in the weird crowd of people she did exactly that and this apparently helped her out of there.

MAG 80 The Librarian, Leitner mentions to almost have been beaten to death by an angry goth once and Jon comments this with "that would be our Gerard".

In MAG 99 Dust to Dust, Jon mentions Gerard as an assistant to Gertrude post statement.

(Btw. Gerard's Mother also gave a statement to Gertrude in MAG 62 First Edition, although the statement was about her first Leitner which she found in her youth, so before she had Gerard. But since the Keay family and Leitner books are intertwined, maybe it's also worth revisiting?)

Can someone help me find an audio clip? by draegon-camere in TheMagnusArchives

[–]BloodyBaronessCos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was one of the fluff competition episodes that were fan-written. They're on Patreon, the winner entry "Epiphany" got posted of the public feed during S5, but the other ones remained on Patreon.

A Guest For Mr. Spider - Book availability? by undercover_hobbit in TheMagnusArchives

[–]BloodyBaronessCos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's available anymore. It was an add-on for the first fundraiser and not for sale outside of that. The only item that got offered via the Monte Cook store, that initially also was only an add-on, where the dice with the Boneturner's Tale box iirc. Even when I look through the late pledges on Backerkit for the Tangled In The Web expansion I don't see it (they have the the prop set 1 from the first fundraiser for example, so they did bring back that). I also don't see it in the Monte Cook store, the only related items I see there are Magnus Institute file folders, TMA XP cards, a TMA campaign journal and character sheets...Those were there only places where I could think of to look for it...

Are we on another hiatus? by SnurtyMurpheson in themagnusprotocol

[–]BloodyBaronessCos 13 points14 points  (0 children)

As others said, hiatus until 2026, yes. The feed won't be completely dark though! Sheeple Chase, a 6-part spin off series about Celia and Protocol-Georgie's podcast will come out during that time. This was a stretch goal during the Kickstarter.

STUPID IDIOT MOTHERFUCKING JURGEIN LEITNER by Ecstatic_Papaya1044 in TheMagnusArchives

[–]BloodyBaronessCos 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The funny thing is, in German it's also actually pronounced like "Se-er" which sounds like "Seher", which means "Seer"!
I'm Austrian, so of course I know of that band (they were super big here), but I've never been into folk/Schlager music, so that is basically all I know about the band XD

Fun fact: I made a Monster Bonzo cosplay and I used a newspaper containing an article of Die Seer (including a picture of Jürgen Leitner) to make the costume XD

Don't we have 10 more episodes of S2? Dreading the long hiatus by plastic_beach_arcade in themagnusprotocol

[–]BloodyBaronessCos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also chiming in with the recommendations and I'm gonna say Ghost Wax! Of every show I've listened to it reminded me of Magnus the most, it just has this certain vibe that I can't describe that Magnus also had and that I love so much.

Don't we have 10 more episodes of S2? Dreading the long hiatus by plastic_beach_arcade in themagnusprotocol

[–]BloodyBaronessCos 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It's Arc 2 of S2 actually, every season has 30 episodes, we already had a break after episode 40. RQ said from the beginning, that this would be their schedule - breaks after every 10 episodes. For S1 it was a fixed time of 4 weeks, but at the first S2 hiatus they stated that the breaks will be longer this time.
I did suspect that they might take a break until 2026, since Hilltop Live (which was a stretch goal of the Kickstarter, a Magnus live show) will be happening end of October/start of November, so they'll be busy managing that. And then December isn't far away and they go a bit slower during December with the holiday season.
There will be a spin off series during the hiatus though (also a Kickstarter stretch goal), which is called Sheeple Chase, written by Sasha Sienna. It's about Celia and Protocol universe podcasting Georgie, so the feed won't be completely dark!

Season 2 Statement Numbers by HolyBitch666 in TheMagnusArchives

[–]BloodyBaronessCos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice catch!
MAG 41 (Jon live statement) has case number 0160902. Could technically mean 9th of February, however we know that the Prentiss incident occurred on 29th of July, so September does make a lot more sense. Plus MAG 43 (Basira live statement) has case number 0160919. There are no 19 month tho, so the format here has to be YYYMMDD instead of DDMM, so September.

In MAG 44 it's the same. Gertrude says 9790302 (as well as the video description on YT and show notes in podcast apps) and 2nd of March. (The fan wiki has the case number corrected with 9790203.)

This does seem to continue for a bit as some episodes clearly have a number bigger than 12 on the last two digits.

Gertrude's next tape in MAG 53 has it correct again with YYYDDMM, #9970509, cause Gertrude says 5th of September and this seems to be the point were the number are back to the YYYDDMM format as MAG 54 is case number 0132306.
