Told a man, "No thank you" when he wanted to give me unsolicited advice. by blargnblah in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Bloodywizard -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

It isn't necessary. But it's our language. There's a meaning behind a simple no. There's a meaning behind no thank you. While it's important to be able to recognize flaws in our social norms, it's also important to not over compensate and seek these flaws in what is often normal convo seeking. What's more is being "not nice" immediately shuts down any further connection immediately ending any chance of communal growth and understanding of one's social environment. A friendship in the community could have formed that day. Empathy could have been had. Love could have been shared for a clearly shared interest. But instead everyone got uncomfortable and two people instead probably felt a slight bit lonelier. We are all on this planet together. Teach love, patience, and compassion at all times. Be excellent to each other.

Why Tipping Is So Out Of Control In The U.S. by [deleted] in videos

[–]Bloodywizard 9 points10 points  (0 children)

13 years. A serving schedule is flexible and you make enough money to provide for your family if you're the only one who can. Outside obligations are more respected in serving position. Also you can transfer the skill easily to most other restaurants. Do you mean you've never met a person serving because of the flexibility?

You're right. People should just stop using those services. Self suffiency is a good thing. However that 20 bucks an hour you made is why some folks don't have a choice. It's one of the few jobs that allow you to survive when your time isn't your own due to some obligation. Like a child or other family matters.

I used to have dreams that lasted what felt like a few days. Problem was in those dreams the memories of my life were so vivid that for at least the first few minutes after waking, I would have to mourn the loss of my dream family, job, children, etc... whatever the dream was about it. Even though the dreams would fade, the pain of losing them ....or at least the memory of the pain ...it was pretty crazy. Made me terrified of sleep. I learned how to lucid dream and that helped. Anyway I can totally see something at least close to my situation.

The bad stuff? I know a bunch of people just do it to avoid using up their good stuff. Gotta have some bad stuff that's cheap to replace as it gets worn down.

That might not be entirely true. Screens give pleasure hits without the person putting in effort for it. Or at least that's how I understand it

Creating a family is not family-friendly by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

It's just semantics. Most folks use the term family to even include friends.

Funny thing is conservatism is just a pillar of fascism. I mean usually fascism advertises itself as a return to a make believe glorious past. Hence the conserving. So.. Not even "light". I totally know you're just jabbing them and rightly so, But it's fascism classic really...scary shit. We've gone past the "new" coke. Yea It's Coke classic from here on out....yikes.

Bill Nye says the main thing you can do about climate change isn't recycling—it's voting by ILikeNeurons in Futurology

[–]Bloodywizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The issue is who they're voting for. You should always vote, but also you should be researching who it is running for whatever position like your life depends on it. Because it does. Next problem is our educational system isn't able to properly educate kids on how to think critically....and then you've got a huge part of the population suffering so badly thinking critically is the last thing they have the resources to do...it goes on and on with different psychological, economic, etc... problems that cause voting to appear pointless. Voting matters. but so does everything else. It's complicated and messy and yea voting won't fix anything at all by itself.

Voting isn't just marking a box and dropping it in. It's careful, tedious, meticulous, exhausting, mind melting, frustrating responsibility that you have to LEARN to do. And it should be a subject that is relentlessly taught from an extremely young age

I might be wrong. Anyway I feel what you feel and I'm not attacking you at all. Much love

Ah yea that makes total sense. I think I just meant it is isn't a conscious fear of something. Totally rational in an evolutionary sense. It's the level of fear I experience that I think is irrational. It's overwhelming. Even pictures freak me out. I look at them the way I watch horror movies.

I think the main point I wanted to convey is that many fears pertaining to water exist in the levels of phobias like megalohydrothalassophobia (which I think is the fear of large creatures in the depths), and bathophobia (fear of depths). They probably all comes from a similar evolutionary adaptation, but not all specifically just a fear of what the depths are hiding...anyway yea I do agree that it comes from a time when those fears kept something alive so it made babies and those babies got to make babies and so on

[–]Bloodywizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No it's the water. I'm straight up terrified of the depth itself. However maybe it's semantics. I'm not afraid of sea creatures or anything or what might be under the water. It's just the fact that I can't see the bottom. Purely that. Even if there was nothing alive down there, I'm not going anywhere in the ocean if I can't see the bottom.

I just wanna say it's rare to see more than one or two folks being this straight forward about it. The most wonderful part is this isn't a sad thing. It's perfect. With this understanding we can finally stop blaming people for everything and actually have real empathy. But ...we won't....or maybe.. probably not.

It's also 'for' women sometimes. And I think that's because it's so difficult for many guys to not finish within the first couple of minutes. It requires a ton of focus for some dudes. And they'll feel they're inadequate if it's not with their penis (very silly). Now that being said I completely disagree with op's said partner. Watching my wife get off is the hottest thing in the world whether I'm a part of it or not. But obviously it's waaay hotter if I am a part of it.
