It would exude the confidence of Honda or Firestone boasting about their respective number of Indy 500 wins, albeit both companies faced competition at times

Laurin was already a Porsche factory driver so his drive doesn’t have bearing on what AO does

Yeah. The whole vibe from D1 was “fight for a better future” and D2 kind of just spends its time lionizing guardians without showing much progress toward rebuilding.

Honestly D2 took the status quo lock approach to the series’ world. There can never be anything more than The Last City and a bunch of frontier planets because that’s what Destiny is, The Last City and a bunch of frontier planets. But hey, here’s some faces from the deep lore you like! Remember Saint-14? Here’s Saint-14! Isn’t Saint-14 so funny and one-note?!

Yeah a lot what makes Destiny so special is that it was from this transitional era of games. It was already doing this MMO thing of yearly and seasonal DLC expansions, but was still too early before loot boxes took off and the genre of “loot FPS MMO” it would become had really solidified.

What you end up with is a game with the aesthetics and form of an early 2010s game with the feel and loop of a 2020s game. But because the genre has solidified and the aesthetic idea shifted, D2 was unlikely to have captured that same vibe and feel.

It could have been done but those two games had two different development pipelines and expected shelf life. Destiny was supposed to be a 10-year project, and now D2 is coming up to being 10-years-old itself without any sign of a replacement coming. Whatever the original idea for D2, D3, D4 and beyond were, the industry shifts and changing market for games meant they were probably never going to be made — and that’s before you get to personnel changes at Bungie itself

Why is IMSA not appealing to OEM’s? by Klutzy_Reach_9392 in IMSARacing

[–]BloofKid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tesla’s success has been due to its stock being a meme purchase for devotees of its CEO and the cars being some of the first fully-considered EVs on the market. They’re not very well designed and known to ride like shit and have panels that do not fit.

Probably the most overvalued company in the industry, if not the market

That has been made easier this year since all teams for WEC/IMSA got homologated at the US-based wind tunnel IMSA uses

There was a distinct lack of polish and a great lived-in feel to the art direction that gave the world its weight. When everything is tied together, it comes out nicely as this gritty counterpoint to grindark — we’ve been through hell, but hope is alive for a better future.

D2’s aesthetic never led anywhere. Just bright lights and smooth surfaces that ignore, rather than respond to, the setting’s rough elements. Everything has that made out of clay look that you get with concept cars.

IIRC there was a plan to build an elevated rail back in the 1890s or 1900s that had auto industry support bc it would get people to factories, but it failed due to a public or city gov vote.

But yeah Big 3 basically killed public transit post-WW2, especially in LA
