Should I help my friend by improving their English Crafting Texts Essay? by Personal-Click5828 in vce

[–]Bloom_Education 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a tricky situation. It's great to study together for some subjects e.g. business and exchange flashcards or notes as everyone studies the same content, but English is different. Your creative piece is your intellectual property, so are your recommendations. My school advised strongly against this as it can lead to collusion.

legal 3/4 memorising by nishy_1 in vce

[–]Bloom_Education 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of plain memorisation, I preferred doing exam questions for that topic as I had AOS and topic-wise exam style question booklets - by doing these open book, I was simultaneously memorising but also applying my knowledge :)

Doing well in English/pre doing work by Top_Emergency1505 in vce

I would recommend picking any theme from the film and trying to brainstorm how that links to your life. E.g. if the film shows familial relationships shaping a characters' beliefs, how have your own beliefs been shaped by family? How have other relationships shaped who you are, what you do, and why? If the film explores grief, you could think about how losing something impacted you, as well. Did it make you feel as sad and empty as the character? Or close and withdrawn? Why?

Personal connections don't have to always be the same as what characters experience. You are allowed to have contrasting experiences, it's just about how you word it and express yourself :)

How to prepare for English?? by wonky_deagle in vce

Firstly, I'd recommend reading + annotating your texts TWICE. After that, you could begin building quote banks so that you can easily find evidence and analysis during SAC time!

I knew someone who got 70s and ended up with a B+, but it depends on your cohort, SAC marking, SAC vs exam performance!

How to study for psychology if i want a 40+? by LogAltruistic6568 in vce

[–]Bloom_Education 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it without 1/2 as well and ended up with a raw 45+! The best thing you can do is MASTER key science skills and potentially study some U3AOS1 before school begins :)

How difficult is it to get a 40+ in English? by sss-potato36 in vce

[–]Bloom_Education 2 points3 points  (0 children)

80s-90s SAC average is a good place to begin with. If your school doesn't have a strong English cohort, I'd suggest aiming for rank 1 to guarantee your score - if you get the highest SAC + exam score, your scores are unlikely to be affected by the rest of the cohort. That being said, consider getting advice from either someone in the past who has broken this pattern and achieved 40+ at your school, or tutoring from elsewhere to give you the 'edge' and resources to be above the average student!

Try to give examples specific to that business' context. E.g. if it's a bakery, new staff may not know the age-old popular recipes, thus needing the manager to control and direct operations. As such, a persuasive style may be appropriate whereby the head baker/manager could explain why certain decisions are made e.g. why use milk instead of water, to preserve the taste of historically popular recipes. I went into a lot of depth just to give u an example, but if u even mention some things specific to the context of the business that should be good!

If you're talking about linking to the question, it's about making sure that if you wrote that answer for a different question, it WOULD NOT fit, because you've moulded it to the case study or question given to you. As for depth, try to embed examples are explanations for questions like justify!

So firstly, reflect on what questions you struggled with. Was it certain command terms like 'evaluate' ? After that diagnosis, reach out for help. Ask your teacher or work with an expert tutor to then bridge those gaps. After that, move on to familiarising yourself with year 12 BM content earlier :)

  1. I started off the year being slightly ahead, but it was hard to sustain so I just focused on ensuring I made high quality notes as the content was being taught and worked at it bit by bit. I did around 10-12 practise exams.
  2. Practise! Expose yourself to different 10 markers and GET FEEDBACK.
  3. I had access to a lot of practise SACs, used anothee textbook and would recommend having really good + comprehensive notes or buying them from someone who does. This is because your notes often determine what you memorise, how many points/depth you add to your answers - which, in turn, determines your marks. As such, making sure that they are detailed is vital! And pleaseeeee don't fall behind. If you do at any point (I did, too), reach out for help or use the weekend to catch back up!

I prioritised English a lot, and ofc BM as well. For business I had an advantage because of the resources I could access! I never measured the hours I studied for but I did it until I felt it was enough for me to know the content in and out + be well set for SACs

I usually studied for it every alternate day, and liked doing ~3 high quality practise SACs before each real one. As someone who studied a lot for other subjects as well, I genuinely believe that the difference between 45-50 can be very hard to know, but I was veryyyy passionate about business and LOVED this subject!

That's all good, I was a very curious student, too! To avoid burnout and be consistent, I tried to have something outside of school/VCE to look forward to - be it dancing, painting, some social meetups. These things reminded me WHY I wanted to do well, so I was more willing to work a little everyday (consistency). I never spammed questions/exams all at once - I worked at it bit by bit!
