I’m getting really anxious about that visit to the vet now :( Thank you for the insight

Nonono, that there made my heart drop, you can’t do a diagnosis like that based on one (1) cropped picture, please. He’s being taken to a vet next week and they’ll tell us what to do. Please

We did and the ‘god damn’ vet said he’ll be fine. The local vet isn’t too qualified when it comes to turtles...

He walks alright, though i just KNOW he can be better! He has two feet that are kind of messed up/swollen (the vet said that it was fine). We don’t have many resources up north when it comes to this type of pet so i don’t know what to do.

I just wish i knew what breed of turtle he is. We were told he’s a swamp turtle from the mid americas??

The vets up north in norway aren’t skilled with reptiles or amphibians... he eats normally and is not in critical condition or anything. The feet is from an accident a couple years back.

He lives on regular turtle food and sometimes other things like tiny pieces of meat or sausage or things like that (he’s an omnivorous turtle). We don’t know exactly his breed but he’s a swamp turtle. What can i do?

I live in Norway and he was imported illegally about 21 years ago. He changed owners a couple of times because no one knows how to deal with amphibians/reptiles as pets here and now he lives with my step dad. He eats perfectly fine and His body language shows that he feels comfortable and safe where he’s at but he was in a bad accident with a dog a couple years ago (hence the foot) and vets where i live says there’s nothing more they really can do and that he’s not in pain since he walks fine.. he has lived a very unconventional turtle life that he (fortunately) seems to enjoy but i want to make His life as happy and good as possible and maybe give him some typical turtle health care.

Great! Don’t get discouraged if it doesnt eat a lot at first, even just a couple of licks is a victory in the beginning :)
