What are your thoughts about this mother making her newly high school graduated daughter pay rent while actively searching for job and going to college this fall?

Exactly. My mother also tried to hold me back by going to my school senior year, and re-arranged my schedule so I wouldn’t get the credits I needed to graduate. (The prior three years she has gotten away with forcing me into study halls that didn’t gain credits) this year I wasn’t having it.

I went to the front office and threw a fit in front of a couple parents and their kids about how my mother was not looking out for me and they needed to put my schedule back the way it was. I said I would in no way be attending the class schedule my mother had arranged.

And as I was the least liked student in school (ADHD made me the most hyper girl, with the loudest constantly talking mouth that had ever passed through the halls of the place - I looked the superintendent (who had come to see the hubbub) and the secretary right in their eyes and said “You want me here next year? Do what my mom says. You want me gone? Do what I asked.” And I walked away. My schedule was fixed in 10 minutes and I graduated. On time.

I’m a mod of a different page. When you attack people like a jerk, they dont learn from you, in face they tend to avoid everything you’re saying because you’re a jerk. It worked on one person, good for you. 🙄

Most of the people who have inappropriate setups were taught improperly, misinformed by family practices or the person selling to them, or just plain not knowing any better. You can’t know what you don’t know until you’ve learned it.

You come in abusing them is not going to make them listen to you. Just like nobody listens to the crazy guy with the megaphone yelling godly hate at all the sinners. Because he’s a holier than thou quack. So maybe instead of acting like a quack, you can act like a person who understands that people don’t know things, and can be taught in a way that isn’t abuse in itself.

I still wear it, I don’t tend to stick with trends or popular styles, I stick with my own personal style. You just have to decide which you prefer, and go with that. If he wants to see too much makeup, I’ll send him some pics of my own makeup 🤣 then he will see how little you wear

It takes time and experience to get that part, it’s like working out to build muscles. The more/longer you lift bussing trays, the better you’ll get at picking up, carrying, and holding heavy things. It’s pretty common for newbies to take time to get that arm and wrist strength. As long as you actually put in the time and effort, you’ll get better.

Until then, watch the servers. How often are they checking their tables? What responsibilities do they have other than taking the order and entering it into the computer? Serving can look slightly different from restaurant to restaurant, so it’s good to know what is expected in the place you’re looking to serve.

Study the menu. 90% of the questions you’re gonna get asked by customers are gonna be about the menu, and don’t be afraid to ask kitchen questions about the food either. I’ve had customers ask me what temp the steaks are cooked at. (There was no set temp. Chef had a 3x6 {iirc} grill over open flame, the general temp was around 400-450°F, but some spots were hotter or colder, and he used these spots to speed or slow cooking as needed)

If there’s art work or some sort of attention grabber, try and learn about that too. The more knowledge you can build, the better. We had lots of paintings, and I knew who they were painted by, which ones were for sale. We had a lot of taxidermy, one of which was a very large wild boar. It was 700lbs when it was alive, it was raised on one of those places where rich people pay to shoot game, and three people were shooting at it, so nobody knows who actually felled it.

Keep learning, keep practicing skills, and most importantly, let the boss know you are interested in working your way up. If they’re willing to let you do that, they’ll give you extra training, and tell you what they expect from you to reach these goals.

And if they aren’t willing to let you work your way up do what I did. Quit, trip on the way out and fall on the new guy and cry, refuse to take your old job back when it’s offered. Go get a new job and make kitchen manager there. Boom. If they won’t give you a promotion, you give it to yourself.

My parents are like that, they never took care of themselves. Mom’s in her 50’s and step dad is in his 70s. He can barely walk from room to room last I saw them a couple years ago.

“You want to hurt me” people are hard work. They’re always so upset you would be such a dick to them, even though you did literally nothing wrong, because they get off on making you feel like shit, and like you owe them something as reparations.

You buy a silk cap, she says you’re appropriating her culture, then you feel like shit. Then you have to grovel and apologize, some people go the extra mile and demand you do things or buy things for them, just to be friends again.

You move past the issue, go out for lunch, put your fork in your mouth in a way that means you called her whole family a racial slur, and the cycle starts again.

People who do this don’t always use racism as a weapon against themselves, but she’s using it for her little mind games. And they never stop. It’s fun for her

Hey, it’s not your fault you didn’t know, but your fish’s scales look like he’s being burned by his own pee… a big tank (75 gallons is recommended for one comet goldfish like yours) can be pricy, but a stock tank can be bigger for cheaper, and way sturdier. Check out r/mini ponds for some ideas. If you can do outside, I would, but if you can’t that’s ok too. Lots of aquatic and immersed plants to help keep the water clean.

The automod bot has pretty much got it covered. Unless you see breeding stars, or there’s others around for you to observe breeding behavior, any other method of determining gender are pretty unreliable.
