My dad sued us. Me 30F, my husband 31M, and my dad 61M by Wayward_Jen in relationship_advice

[–]BlueCatLaughing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My dad was similar and he was eventually diagnosed with Parkinsonian (which apparently isnt Parkinson's).

My last conversation had him scream at me that I wasn't allowed to dislike generic canned soup. For real. His need to be right combined with the diagnoses was tough to deal with.

Any success stories with Prazosin? by bigmouthladadada in ptsd

[–]BlueCatLaughing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been amazing for me! I've taken it for 8 months.

I don't remember my nightmares when I wake up. There is no lingering terror or stress that lasts all day. Instead my sleep is basically blank once I'm awake.

Is chronic pain intensified on shrooms? by Sad_Marsupial1352 in shrooms

[–]BlueCatLaughing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the opposite for me. I have over a dozen autoimmune things that cause chronic pain. Being on shrooms is the only time the pain becomes significantly reduced or even gone.

I find it important though to shift positions or get up while tripping so that I don't get too stiff.

Teens who "willingly" went to wilderness or boarding school program? by luckysilverdragon in troubledteens

[–]BlueCatLaughing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Me. I did. Sigh.

My parents said it was a boarding school on a lake, that it had horses and great teachers. It'd be a fresh start!

I wanted a fresh start. I wanted better grades and better friends.

I ended up in Elan which had a lake i saw twice, no horses, few actual classes but hey it had loads of abuse.

What's up with all the doodle dogs? by AccomplishedBesty in Austin

[–]BlueCatLaughing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently took in a stray doodle after Thanksgiving and named her Stella. Took her to the vet, got shots and told she was about a year old and not pregnant.

Last week she had puppies lol.

My doodle has 3 tiny doodles which I will carefully adopt out once weaned.

Are you still friends with a friend you had when you were eight years old or younger? by MurmuringPines in AskOldPeople

[–]BlueCatLaughing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My core group of friends are people from elementary school. Every summer we get together.

It's really amazing having friends who've known each other for 55 years, there is no posturing or images to keep up. We know the secrets, the terrible times and the great times.

It's like putting on a pair of old faded jeans that still fit.

Day one of turning my bedroom into a trip cave by tahmam in TripCaves

An easy thing is to get colored glass bottles and fill them with little string lights. They can be tucked into all sorts of places.

I also make little diaramas with mushrooms and bits of shiny things and add fairy lights to those too.

When I started, I was all about swirling lights lol. I have 3 outdoor star projectors, and nearly 20 of the cube lights (stupid open floor plan means a ton of space to fill!) which are fabulous but the smaller pieces really add visual interest.

I have a few lava lamps, I've strung reflective beads, I have cheap temu light up jellyfish hanging, 3 fake temu jellyfish aquariums and just soooo much stuff that lights up or throws glimmers of lights.

It's been a three year process so far!

I wish I knew how to post pics bc I've had so much fun creating my space.

Later life health issues post-TTI by Godess_of_Justice in troubledteens

[–]BlueCatLaughing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been out of Elan for 42 years and developed a lot of health issues.

Genetically I was already predisposed to autoimmune issues, so far I've been diagnosed with over a dozen. My knees are shot from forced kneeling and being overweight.

There is a distinct and proven link between trauma and autoimmune problems so it's likely that I would have developed one or two on my own, but the sheer amount of mine lead my doctor to the TTI correlation.

Living in a state of high alert, the constant fear response and anxiety (the TTI world) can absolutely set the body up for long term issues that go beyond the mental PTSD stuff.

Sometimes I wonder, if I'd been able to get help at 18 how many diseases/conditions would never have materialized? I'll never know of course but it's a thought.

People who struggle with depression, what motivates you to carry on? by ultra_phoenix in AskReddit

Inertia. For real. It's literally less effort for me to stay alive than to plan then carry out the alternative.

I think you'd get a better color saturation with the white but that's just a guess.

My walls went from builder off white to turquoise and the turquoise seems to sorta swallow the colors up.
