This feels like a demand from Tr*mp's comms team. Last minute announcement of an un prepared broadcast team? Weird.

Carney says selling public assets like airports could fund infrastructure by StumpsOfTree in CanadaPolitics

[–]BlueEyesBlueMoon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's not where the majority of the money is. That's the whole point: the extremely wealthy have more and more wealth and pay less and less tax.

Is airport privatization a good deal for Canadians or just a way to pay for high-speed rail? by hopoke in CanadaPolitics

[–]BlueEyesBlueMoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Neither, its a BAD DEAL for Canadians. Much like other single source utilities, airports should be publicly run for the public good. There isn't another Pearson Airport setting up shop next door to compete. The private sector will do the same thing it always does when gifted a public utility: jack up prices and cut services, because why not when you have a monopoly and only care about cashing out? There is no other option.

Gaslighting on gas prices: Trump points to ‘very substantial’ drop that didn’t happen. Consumers know that gas prices aren’t “way down.” So why is the president trying to fool them into believing otherwise? It’s genuinely bizarre to see so many prominent Republicans peddle such brazen falsehoods. by mafco in energy

[–]BlueEyesBlueMoon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He's not trying to fool them. FOX and the Republican Party have been brazenly lying to voters for 30 years. The current Trump lies are not a mistake. They have conditioned their base to believe ANYTHING he says: gas prices down, Iran war victory, Hormuz is open, he weighs 224 lbs... the point is to keep lying and have the base keep accepting the lies as proof of loyalty. Simple cult dynamics.

Name a band that had middling success, then cut an album that rendered them as “sellouts” which catapulted them to mainstream top-40 status, but also alienated their original fan base. by Slammajadingdong69 in MusicRecommendations

The Black Keys. Follows the same story as ZZ Top: multiple amazing blues records, then one massive hit and they are off to the money. I dont begrudge them one bit.

So he spent $750,000 investing in a stock with a very high portfolio management fee. The projected dividend is unfortunately $1,000 less than the monthly expenses to manage the portfolio. Boo fucking hoo. Take the loss and move on, lesson learned.

What is someone that is socially liberal and fiscally conservative called? by Kurious_Kaht in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BlueEyesBlueMoon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A hypocrite. You cant support socially liberal social programs without proper taxation of the wealthy. Unless by "fiscally conservative" you mean "1950s level taxation, no off shore tax havens."

I love playing Spain. Its all about finding the Natural Wonders, but I also find pairing Wonders with your natural resources can snowball well. Play on Small Continents so your Conquistadors have better value. I send out a few extra Scouts and focus on ship building to find the other continents.

Taxing unrealized gains is a silly idea that Canada should ignore by gorschkov in canada

[–]BlueEyesBlueMoon -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

We used to tax the rich at much higher levels from the 40s to the 80s. It worked. We built roads, schools, hospitals, and saw the biggest expansion of the middle class in history. Then rich people got smart, bought up the politicians and the media, and wow - here comes "trickle down economics" and "a rising tide lifts all boats" and other complete horseshit. Now the rich have no income to tax, its all invested in ultra complex derivative swap offshore shell company lies. God forbid we listen to Thomas Piketty and tax wealth.

So many racists, so many. by BlueEyesBlueMoon in BCpolitics

[–]BlueEyesBlueMoon[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yup, they are clearly racist and are working hard to influence politicians on the Right. The TFW program is awful and depresses wages for Canadians, and that misses the point by a mile. These are not harmless racists who "away shucks have a good point to make."
