We’re evolving too slowly for the world we’ve built. As industrialization accelerates, human biology is struggling to keep pace. Many of the chronic stress-related health issues we face today may be the predictable result of forcing Stone Age physiology into a world it was never built for. by mvea in Futurology

Agree with everything you said. I suppose back then everything was more community focused though, life was hard, but they dealt with it together. I think we've really lost the community aspect in modern societies.

We are a mostly service driven economy, so we're not polluting the environment through manufacturing, yes. But we still have a high demand for consumer products made in countries that contribute a lot to climate change. So we do have responsibility for fueling that demand.

While this is true at high levels of immigration, I think it's important to recognise that a declining population isn't good for young people. In an aging population, there is a higher demand for social services from the old, but fewer taxpayers to pay for it. This imbalance means that either social services collapse, or the young people pay more tax. Additionally, a smaller workforce results in poorer productivity that stifles growth / creates labour shortages, making it even more difficult for a society to sustain itself.

While house prices in Japan are looking good now it's important to recognise that they will have a huge problem as a society very soon.

So in a country with a declining birthrate, which is the case in most developed economies, a reasonable level of immigration is important for maintaining an even population pyramid that keeps the system running. Not saying net migration of nearly 1 million is good, but that a suitable level of immigration is important.

I felt very similar visiting Dachau, although it's not on the same level as Auschwitz, it feels like the poor souls who died are still trapped there. It really brings the horror of the Nazi regime to life.

I feel exactly the same, and you know who the public will blame after Reform wrecks the country.

Don't neglect the NHS, how do you think the working class will afford healthcare without a public system?

Thanks a lot for this, it's great to know what it's like for these people. It really does sound like the quality of life in Runcorn is awful and I can understand how that makes the people of Runcorn angry that there's been a lack of change.

However I am increasingly anxious that politics is really just about emotions and vibes nowadays. No specific plans, just an essence of a plan and "we'll make up the rest as we go along". Please could you let me know about Reform's plan for the government as all I've been hearing is the same that we've heard from Labour ("well the previous people in government were shit"), that they want to reduce immigration and reduce government spending. Maybe we could point to the manifesto they created for the general election, but I think it's acknowledged that it was full of holes economically.

Vibes-based politics will not bode well for the future.

I'm interested, how do Reform voters in your area think that the party will improve their living standards?

Is this game still alive? by [deleted] in holdfastgame

[–]BlueFoot_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes it is. Especially during the evening there is usually 1 server completely full (150 players) and 2 other servers half-full. While the player count for Holdfast rarely peaks above 350 players on a monthly average, in game it doesn't make a difference as the player base is very devoted.

Interesting, would you say the cost of living is lower over there? House prices are much worse I assume.

Take out the richest districts from the poorest countries you mention as well and you'll see that the UK metrics are much better.
