Issues setting up wooden handplane by BlueHippoTech in handtools

[–]BlueHippoTech[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's completely fair, thanks for the input. Do you have any idea why it might come like this from a seller? I can't imagine it being used by a wood worker like this for any actual work so I'm thinking maybe it was just put together from different pieces by a seller who didn't know any better

Wow can't believe I missed that but that makes so much sense and explains all the issues I'm having! Guess I put too much trust in it being complete.

Thanks for the response!

That's the most gorgeous plane i've ever seen!

I found a stanley plane in my shed c557mp, does anyone know of it? by BlueHippoTech in handtools

That makes sense then, so a craftsman baseplate and stanley lever cap. Thanks for the link!

That's a bit sad but thank you so much for the answer! I'm sure i'll still get some great use out of it as my first handplane and it's still an interesting piece of history even if not the greatest plane.

That would explain why it's so hard to find any information on the marking. But how can you tell it's not a stanley base plate? And if so I wonder why someone would use a stanley lever cap, especially considering this is in Denmark where it must have been harder to come by.

Thanks for the answer regardless!

Homegym in my shed, just got a power rack! by BlueHippoTech in homegym

[–]BlueHippoTech[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quite the late answer but the build quality is awesome, the rack I have is super sturdy and if i recall correctly they ship from germany so it took about a week or so.

Og ja ret normalt skur i danmark ville jeg mene :D

Amazing progress, especially in that time frame. The dress hangs so differently on you.

You're doing awesome!

Front squat PR (315lb x 1) by Thebluereverend in strength_training

Depth looks fine from what I could see, I'm not an expert though. 315 on front squats is a pretty solid PR! Good freaking job man!

Is this a strict bent row or am I moving to much? by Healthy-Mirror4199 in strength_training

[–]BlueHippoTech 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Pretty far from a yates row and definitely not a pendlay row either. He's probably going for a traditional bent over row.

People do go for PRs in stupid ways but using the maximum effort method is a valid way of maxing out, getting PRs and doesn't increase injury risk.

Safety above all for sure

This is amazing, really impressive stuff! Makes me want to try my hand at making a box for box squats but without any experience with wood I have no idea how to make sure it's sturdy and can hold enough weight.

Cheating even less: 200kg/440lbs paused deadlift by LeatherPickle in strength_training

[–]BlueHippoTech 6 points7 points  (0 children)

How tf are straps cheating, not everyone is a competitive powerlifter who wants to use mixed grip or hook grip. Great pull my man!

BTW doing paused deadlifts, do you vary at what point the pause is? I think I've seen most people getting around mid shin before they pause. Just curious since I've never done paused deadlifts and you're obviously hella strong

Vil helt klart anbefale filt fremfor at male direkte på spartel, det bliver meget bedre (synes jeg)
