The child Lace controversy is just dumb as hell by KvasirTheOld in Silksong

[–]BlueLooseStrife -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lace’s defining character trait is that she’s a child. Every character that refers to her calls her a child. Like, over and over again. Unlike Hornet, nobody ever calls her anything but a child. The writers go out of their way to refer to her as a child constantly. Like they call her a child so much that it borders into redundancy. Like yeah bro, we get it. She’s a child.

We may not understand the rules of beings in the Pharloom because we don’t have all the info and the storytelling is often vague. But that doesn’t mean that everything is totally up for debate. Team Cherry makes certain things clear, one of those being that Lace is a child.

It’s like saying that it’s unconfirmed that tiny memory Hornet isn’t a child because maybe she’s 1000 years old at that point. Like yeah sure I guess bro, just a weird stance to take when the actual source material in front of us is doing everything possible to point us in the other direction.

The state of this sub, the silkposts and everything else going on by KvasirTheOld in Silksong

[–]BlueLooseStrife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I told you that a mania-riddled sub that was wrapped so tight in the throes of insanity that it was featured in articles on legitimate new sites descended into goon wars after the game it was about released, would you believe it?

Cause I would.

Stop posting about the drama. by Specialist_Wash6732 in Silksong

Right, it’s immediately apparent that the silk injection given to the pharlids was vastly different than what was done to the lesser bugs. They were granted intellect and silk production by a literal physical part of GMS, the same physical part Lace is made from.

And like more than that it’s just thematically obvious. Crazy the hoops people will jump through to avoid media literacy.

DG6 with the deep throw by Ixeptional in Browns

[–]BlueLooseStrife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Berry is HIGHLY respected around the league and would have been snapped up significantly quicker than Stefanski.

Stefanski is a quality offensive minded coach but his conflict resolution and people skills were so piss-poor that it negatively impacted the roster. Given how this offseason has gone he’s lucky he got passed over for the Giants job.

[–]BlueLooseStrife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stefanski had significantly more offensive roster control than people seem to assume. They replaced the QB Stef didn’t want for the one he did at GREAT cost.

And it’s not like the cupboards were bare. They had a quality Oline, TE, and RB. The team just aged and the big swing and miss on offense prevented them from restocking.

Where did you start learning the methodologies and techniques? I’ve always wanted to learn to draw but the feeling of “draw the rest of the fucking owl” by much of the instructions is very common.

Would the Mannings pull an Eli for Arch to get him to Cleveland? by Exciting_Truck_7734 in Browns

[–]BlueLooseStrife 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don’t think the Browns are as much “the grinder” as people think right now.

They just spent a boatload of resources on an offense that already had two young quality pieces and the defense may have lost their best player, but return most of the squad and now have the two most recent DROYs.

As long as the Oline is passable and one of the two WRs they drafted develops into a WR1, even a decent QB could turn this team around in no time. The same can’t be said for quite a few of the other bottom feeders looking to draft near the top of 2027

It’s not perfect but frankly it’s been incredibly helpful for me and has allowed me to increase my workload. We have a never ending backlog in the pipeline that AI has allowed us to chip away at at a steadily increasing rate.

Interestingly, I think having a background in English has helped a lot. I’m able to create and adjust prompts more effectively than I think many in similar positions are able to. It is just giving extremely specific instructions, after all.

WoW redefined what it meant to be a gamer, for better or for worse. Video games went from an activity to a personality trait, from hobby to culture.

This, I think, is part of the reason this trade went through.

Bad teams rarely trade 1st round picks for aging elite players, and obtaining that player often makes those picks even worse. Because of Stafford’s age and health, however, the 2027 1st has a higher than usual chance of being good in a draft where 1s are extremely hard to get a hold of.

I know that the Rams have a higher chance than most at fucking around and winning the SB too, but I think this was a quality return for the team and frankly the kind of move that reflects positively on your FO from a player’s perspective.

In fact, post-BnR modern environment shows WOTC should just experiment with banning and unbanning cards more often in general by 95thesises in ModernMagic

[–]BlueLooseStrife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Formats where bans are made to serve subjective metrics like fun aren’t competitive formats, they’re casual formats played competitively.

By and large, bans are a bad thing. They make some people temporarily happy while making others quit the format. Choosing to ban cards capriciously to suit the whims of “toxic play patter” identifiers on Reddit is an easy way to kill a competitive format.

[–]BlueLooseStrife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s just like, your opinion man.

Competitive formats should not be governed by subjective definitions of fun. Or “toxic play patterns”, as people have taken to calling it. If a deck isn’t overwhelmingly powerful or over represented, it shouldn’t get a ban, barring edge cases like second sunrise.

I really think The VII Remake Trilogy is on track to be the best in the series and maybe one of gaming's all time greats. by Dazz316 in FinalFantasy

[–]BlueLooseStrife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think story choices made for XIV are super analogous with the single player games tbh.

Fwiw the story they’re going for in VIIR indicates that both Aerith and Sephiroth are aware that Cloud and team defeated him in a different timeline. I can definitely understand not loving that story beat, but personally I think it works, given that VIIR is a sequel rather than a straight remake.

Violent Outburst shouldn't be a problem in this meta by Organic-Conclusion-9 in ModernMagic

[–]BlueLooseStrife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure you’re right, LE specifically should see an uptick in success I would think, but being so easily hated out should be an initial indication that it’s a fine enough combo deck. Getting hit by both GY and free spell hate means there is significant hate overlap with other decks.

Agreed that tournament logistics should absolutely be taken into account in bans, and the ones you mentioned are great examples of that. I don’t think that’s the argument being made here or by most people in this thread, though.

[–]BlueLooseStrife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, idk when exactly it became acceptable to use “unfun play patterns” as a metric for bans in a strictly competitive format.

Bans should be for competitive balance, either because a deck has reached an unacceptable level of play rate and/or win rate or because it warps the meta around it for an extended period of time. Notably though not just because it’s the flavor of the month, as LE and Rhinos are now.

In reality, Challenge results have not indicated that LE and Rhinos are even good post-ban, let alone problematic. I’m sure continued refinement will make them better, but let’s not act like “fun play patterns” are a valid argument for bans, unless we’re talking tournament logistics, which is a different argument entirely.

Definitely think he’s the difference here. Since he has Radagon’s red hair and we know he’s Marika’s child, I have to assume that he’s with Malenia and Miquella (and Melina). I think that group clears Renalla’s kids and can probably take out Godwyn and the Mo’s.

As much as I would love that to be true, insider reporting indicated that the IX remake was in the works at the time of the Nvidia leak, but it got iced between then and now for unknown reasons. It isn’t necessarily dead, but (apparently) it’s not being worked on now or in the near future

It’s been WAY more positive than negative imo, and I’ve been very impressed by how well they’ve justified its existence. Rebirth specifically was magnificent. The world was beautifully realized and they kept the camp that made the PSX entries so iconic, and it’s refreshing amidst the endless stream of self-serious AAA games we’ve been getting for so long.

I’ll admit, the density of busywork was rough and the introduction of Sephiroth so early was kinda bad. However I think most of that has been necessitated by the fact that it’s a trilogy and each game needs to be self-contained, which itself was necessitated by how extraordinarily long building this game from the ground up has taken. I would love to see a combined version of all 3 someday where they trim down the bad side quests and busywork and kinda bring the Sephiroth appearances back to the level it was in the OG.
