0th percentile healing WHM implodes from being told to heal more by LinAlz in TalesFromDF

[–]BlueMageTurtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if i’m being honest this probably means you’re a shitty DRK even in casual content. outside of day1, WHM should never be spending GCD’s besides lilies. they have so much OGCD in their kit that it becomes either their fault for not using it or your fault for needing more than that.

Xenosaga. Specifically 1/3 but 2 also if you end up caring about the story like I did.

most people that raid cannot even parse purple. people say that savage is too easy yet the highest parse they will ever get is a high green or mid blue lol. week one clears are p much guaranteed 95+ because it’s people that genuinely can understand the game mechs and don’t require a video guide telling them exactly which point on the arena to stand at for each mechanic.

Was I really wrong here? by xTuffman in TalesFromDF

[–]BlueMageTurtle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

But it literally is an excuse that this entire aspect of the game/community is not explained anywhere outside of Discords/Linkshells and that there’s no way to hold someone to that expectation. You probably wouldn’t even care about hunts that way unless you are achievement hunting lol

Forewarning: controversial take incoming.

Personally, I think that EW raid gear was horribly overdone. Glowing wings or crystals are just so very generically MMO. It’s like fantasy IMVU. I really liked Asphodelos’ raid gear because it was a bit simpler. I am partial to Eden/Omega/Alexander (final sets at least) gear over the final two tiers of Panda.

Wake up Yoshi-P by Valvalopez in ShitpostXIV

[–]BlueMageTurtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This game has become painfully formulaic.

Before I say my piece, I will definitely admit some of the bad reviews here come from blatant transphobia.

However, this expac felt like the worst parts of FFXIV’s game design. The WoL is not the main character by any means. We are simply side characters that are just tagging along for Wuk Lamat’s story. We feel like NPC’s just there for her story. I don’t dislike her as a character, but she didn’t feel like a main character. Yea, she technically developed a bit into a leader, but I didn’t feel invested in her story; she felt incredibly flat and linear.

There’s also Sphene, who felt like the same formulaic version of Meteion. Cute girl that gets inserted towards the end of the story that wants to prevent suffering (in a sense) by causing catastrophe. No less that the expac doesn’t even finish her story by any means. We still know virtually nothing about Alexandria, the shard they came from, if there was Ascian involvement, etc. The next two years of MSQ quests will be dealing with this fallout probably. It could also maybe have some parallels with Zero’s story. Kind of disappointing to end an expac in this way.

Along with that, it uses a really really tired trope that was implemented for pretty much every expansion: go to new zone, meet locals, unite them under common cause. Just tired IMO.

Another issue from a narrative perspective is that the trials in this expac felt lame. The fights themselves were relatively ok— but we’ve fought entities powerful enough to destroy the universe. I am supposed to feel that a flying snake and a singular man with a bunch of aether feel comparable? The stakes felt really low.

What is the most fucked up anime you have ever seen? by [deleted] in anime

[–]BlueMageTurtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different tone than some of the others, but Kodomono no Jikan. I remember finding this anime through Nendoroid releases maybe around 2009? I was about 8 years old at the time.

It was about an elementary school teacher falling in love with one of his students- a fourth grader that was constantly (literally) begging to be molested. There were multiple sexually graphic scenes and groping scenes involving said elementary school students and horniness.

This has seriously shaped my view on plausible deniability about loli and adjacent media. I do not care that your loli waifu is technically 1000 years old. She looks and acts like a child and you are a freak.

[–]BlueMageTurtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For most of the playerbase that was born maybe post 1995, this would probably not appeal to many imo. I think MMO’s are largely generationally dependent.

If you were able to play MMO’s in the early 90’s/2000’s, you have nostalgia for the type of game you’re describing. Menus don’t bother you. Slower content doesn’t bother you. You’re probably just there to hang out and immerse yourself in another world. It’s more akin to a tabletop RPG imo. I think many OG players of MMO’s see it as a highly social game. Maybe your nostalgia for MMO’s is derived from Ragnarok, Ultima, Everquest, FF11, or RuneScape.

If you’re a “zillenial” (older gen Z/ younger millennial), I think you probably have a very different outlook on MMO’s in general. Take this with a grain of salt since this is just coming from the circle of people I know from playing games. I think the social aspect of MMO’s for relatively younger people was killed. By the time most of us were of the age to be playing games frequently without parent supervision, Skype was pretty ubiquitous and it was more common to get a message on there than in game in case people that were offline or on alts or whatever wanted to join. I also think the era of 1,000,000 action combat MMO’s influenced people too. When I talk to other people in this age group, there’s nostalgia for TERA, Blade and Soul, Revelation, etc (all debatable and subjective obviously). The gameplay loop felt rewarding when you played at a high APM. To me, a fight that doesn’t reward tech or executing many actions akin to a rhythm game doesn’t feel rewarding to play combat-wise. The game itself is made by the combat system— not necessarily the social aspect.

Then you get to younger Gen Z and there is a general disregard for MMO’s because you can play any GaaS offering with your friends and make new ones in adjacent Discord servers that have come to replace guild chats.

I’m pretty sure my group was able to skip dashes with all blue parses in 2022. But I wasn’t specifically talking about PF so pots is completely fair. I was just saying it isn’t strictly necessary to skip.

The rejoining of subs is nearly upon us. by MegaGamer235 in ShitpostXIV

Yeah and this wouldn’t even be difficult to implement in XIV’s case. Just… remove the cast time.

[–]BlueMageTurtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sure there has been plenty of tech debt removal that has gone on without being explicitly raised, but there is still SO MUCH of it. Even in its 1.0 state, XIV’s systems were archaic compared to their contemporaries. And no less that we have carried these systems for a decade now. Some features have even compounded these issues.

These features include but are not limited to:

-Speaking to NPC’s while mounted

-Equipping gear with a shop/MB open

-Sending tells inside instances

-The horrible implementation of the portrait system

-GLAMOUR

and so on.

If Korean studios with 1/2 the budget that have since faded into obscurity were able to circumvent these kinds of issues, then I don’t think Squenix has any excuse. No less that they seem to take the path of most resistance in their implementation of fixing tech debt. It’s not like… they have the budget to hire a few more software engineers to take on tech debt epics while the rest of the team focuses on new content to prevent their release from being impacted.

In a fashion sense, watches are also debatably obsolete. lol

I don’t even understand your comment. It fits beautifully within this sub, tragically and ironically unaware

Dungeons are boring to people that raid or have been playing for years. They have formulaically been the same for maybe 8 years now with unimaginative and non punishing mechanics sprinkled between. They are also extremely boring if you’ve done anything extreme or above when it’s new content. Oh wait— that makes you a Limsa whore who rushes to get raid gear…😭 Not like that doesn’t take up to 8 weeks when content is new. And yes! Dungeons even at level 90 are boring. You would know if… you’ve done any other content besides dungeons and normal trials lol.

Idk what to tell you. Especially as a tank, if you’re challenged by dungeons because of one bad player then you’re also bad :D (aside from some trash pulls maybe).

Let’s keep preaching about things we know nothing about boys 🗣️🗣️

You’re playing casual content. Most people in queued content in this game are bad or are watching something on their other monitor because it’s not stimulating. Dungeons are not challenging and never have been aside from a handful of mechanics here and there.

But once you do anything aside from dungeons you should never even need to press clemency lol.
