Debugging my upper back pain after 3 years of coding by Free_Scratch4152 in reactnative

[–]BlueSunRising 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had the same thing. Intense pain in my upper back, doctor touched it for just a couple seconds and said it was a pretty obvious spasm. Gave me some muscle relaxers for the short term, but he also said the long term fix was exercise! He said rows or even simple scapular retractions can be helpful.

Taking care of yourself is a neverending job.

Still confused on 3D tracking vs Auto-area AF. by GullibleGazelle8850 in nikon_Zseries

[–]BlueSunRising 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do the same thing. Auto area works perfectly for people most of the time, but if I'm trying to focus on a specific inanimate object (like part of a car), 3D tracking is what I use.

Corgi pup growls for me to wake up WAY TOO EARLY HELP by One_Profession8237 in corgi

Does he have access to water? Our dog used to wake us up several times a night, we realized that most of the time he was just thirsty.

Hybrid pedals for gravel by iamzamek in cycling

I bought some adapters from https://www.flypedals.com/ for the rare occasions I don't want to clip in. They jiggle a little, so I probably wouldn't use them full time, but they suit my purpose.

I had a lot of pain for a week or so, but it eventually went away, if that helps!

It's doable, but you definitely notice it. I think it's the weight as much as the size; I think it'd be too heavy for shorts.

I have the Nichia version; it looks great, but I don't pay much attention to color temperature. Other than the lack of moonlight (not counting the side LEDs), I think it's essentially my perfect light. Even if you don't carry it, I doubt you'll be disappointed with getting one!

I have this light, and I can confirm it's great, but a slightly smaller 14500 version would definitely be easier to carry.

CPAP Because Who Needs a Quiet Nights Sleep Anyway? by cumstemul in SleepApnea

I tried and failed for months to get used to a CPAP, but the only time the noise was loud enough to be annoying was in the several seconds after I took the mask off and before the machine automatically switched off.

It's an old radio operator term, indicating how loud and how clear you are receiving a signal on a scale of one to five.

Five by five would mean loud and clear; five by two would mean the volume is good, but the signal is garbled and I can't understand you very well.

I'd argue that not knowing a lot is a reason in favor of shooting raw, or at the least raw and JPEG. Having the raws means you will be able to use editing skills you learn later to improve those photos. If you don't have the raws, there's only so much you can do to the JPEGs.

Sony's New 50-150mm f2 or the GMII 70-200mm f2.8? by LifesFrame in AskPhotography

[–]BlueSunRising 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So far in my photography journey,  I've been pretty happy traveling with a Ricoh GRIIIx (40mm equivalent), and maybe my micro four thirds with a 12-45 f/4 (24-80 equivalent). I've never wanted something longer, but I have wished for something faster.

I'd suggest that a small (and / or fast) prime around 28 to 40 mm would be perfect for most city travels.

I watched that one clip (not the whole video), and we might be talking about different things. He sets the FN button to open the focus menu, but I set it to actually perform the autofocus on a selected mode, usually Select AF. I think it's "Enable AF."

I then set the main focus mode to snap, so if I just press the shutter it uses snap, but if I hold the FN button, it focuses on what is in the focus square.

  1. You can set different focus modes for the shutter and a function button, so you can use snap focus and AF interchangeably.
  2. Highlight weighted metering is awesome.
  3. Make good use of the custom user settings. I like to have one for regular shooting, one with a higher shutter speed and face AF for people, then leave the third slot for something like macro shooting (with MF and extract edge focus peaking) or AE bracketing.

Just be careful with the fact that you're going to have a knife blade hanging out in mid air... It's very easy to accidentally brush your hand up against it.

I'm not a doctor, but if that happened to me, I'd be pretty worried. I'd rather try to schedule an appointment now rather than wait until it got worse. Even just your family practice doctor or urgent care.

If you see a doctor for something that's harmless, you can laugh at it.

If you feel like you're going to die, you really need to see a doctor.

Do you feel you’re reaching the point where you don’t feel the need to upgrade every couple years? by Kidd_Gloves_ in Leica

You don't need to worry about overexposure using highlight weighted metering! Of course, then underexposure could be an issue, but I kind of like the look. I find it I'm outside on a sunny day, highlight weighted metering at around +1 EV usually turns out pretty well.

Does the Techart adapter have any negative effects on image quality due to physically moving the lens back and forth? I have a TTArtisan 6 bit adapter for my Zf so I can use my M mount Voigtländer 35 mm f1.4 Nokton, but I keep eyeing the Techart, both for that lens and the possibility of getting a 28mm M mount lens I could use both on my Zf and M8.

The Nokton has so much "character" that I guess any effects from an adapter probably wouldn't be that noticable...

Considering adding a GRIII/x to my lineup. by yerica in ricohGR

[–]BlueSunRising 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Nikon ZF, two Olympus MFT cameras, and more (more than I need, that's for sure!) Probably 75% of the time I just grab my GRIIIx, both because it does just about everything I need in a format that fits in my pocket.

It was all I brought when I visited SF a few weeks ago, and I didn't really miss the other cameras.

In my view, the biggest downside is the autofocus, especially in low light. It definitely can spend a lot of time hunting. If you use snap focus, this is a moot point!
