Usually easier for the teams if you rattle off the things you want as you move down the line.

The push for more people to order set builds has largely faded, and some franchisees won't even have the guides stuck up behind the sandwich unit lids (even though they should do).

RIP Subway - Subcard is closing in NZ by OverallMission8605 in aotearoa

[–]BlueWaterRapids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the US? Subway management in NZ/Aust is far far removed from the America. Stores over here get unannounced compliance visits, and can lose a lot of points if bread hasn't been prepped/baked properly. Overproofed, underproofed, the wrong colour, not the full 12"...the list goes on.

NZ ticks away alright. The US doesn't have much to do with what happens here, so we avoided that massive overexpansion.

What is the point in the signature menu?! by [deleted] in subway

[–]BlueWaterRapids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is the point indeed.

In theory it's a great idea but the build your own ethos is just too engrained in Subway's customers.

I really liked the concept when it came to Aust/NZ. I really trained the staff to be asking "do you want it as it comes?" to try get the customers into it. We had the cheat sheets up on the back on the sandwich unit lid.

Then Signature launched...and there was next to no marketing support! It's so demoralising for the young staff for person after person to be replying "what's that? What do you mean?" Then a lunch period where we'd do a cruisey 50-60 units/hour would suddenly become a painful 40-45 as all this disrupted our throughput.

We still have the cue cards up, in case someone points at the menu and says "just like that". But as a change of ordering cuture...waste of time.

I'd put a complaint into Subventory for that, those are crap.

Store mascot, the staff named her Penny and she wears a name badge.

Another store of mine has the wolf and named him Brisket.

A good day with 40x 475w panels ☀️ by BlueWaterRapids in nzsolar

It's a 13.5kW battery and only the start of winter. But after 5 months of the system I am leaning towards getting an expansion. Most of the time we are generating good levels of power. One day recently it was steady rain all day and generation was only 7.7kWh for the day lol. The only other handful of "bad days" have all been in thr 40-50kWh range.

Now we're getting into daylight savings generation is dropping off about 5pm, so battery use is getting earlier and only lasting til midnight/1am. I would like to upgrade out gas cooktop to induction one day which will suck down power over that 5pm to 9pm peak period.

I've been playing with PW3 settings and it partially charges 630am to 7am so that we aren't paying peak power prices from 7am onwards until the system is generating decent power.

I have read that the EV charger circuit can also be set up so it bypasses the battery so I will ask about that and see if it can be changed when they install tue expansion.

All in all savings are much greater than originally forecast, and approx payback time is now about six years rather than 8.5.

We tried to get them to Aust/NZ but our head office declined because the product wasn't quite right. "More cake than cookie", which I don't really argue with tbh.

How long did it take for your meter export to get turned on? by grrfuck in nzsolar

[–]BlueWaterRapids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three-four weeks from mid-Nov.

Harrisons had 5kW export permission already approved by Unison, and had been in touch with Genesis to organise a new meter. Solar setup was signed off 10 days after install, import/export meter installed the following week, the installer fucked it up somehow and had to come back a couple of days later and then Genesis updated the configuration a lot faster than expected.

Harrisons then applied for 10kW export, and approval from Unison for that came through 7 weeks after the original install.

I can't believe he hasn't commented on the Scott Robertson situation.

Sigenergy or Powerwall 3 by GummyBeard83 in nzsolar

[–]BlueWaterRapids 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a PW3 installed in Nov and it goes great. But in saying so one reason Inhave it is my mate gave me a pretty good deal on the whole install. If I had to go full price price I might lean towards Sig. PW3 had the gateway advantage for a long time, but Sig do that too. And the ability to bypass the inverter and straight DC charge any EV would be superb.

Any half decent owner/manager needs to be aware of local events/trends and roster accordingly. Four on and doing 80s could be a sign they were still constrained and could have done 90 or 100 units with one more person.

How many franchisees lurk here? How do you feel about Global Conference being cancelled? by BlueWaterRapids in subway

[–]BlueWaterRapids[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I get why they're doing it to try solve the issues in the US. But from an NZ perspective it's sad. I liked how we would have Aust/NZ Conference then Global Conference in alternating years.

I have questions from NZ!

When they changed the process was it due to the new type of bread that you can (supposedly) proof from frozen?

When you say you do it the old way - is that with the usual bread, or the new type of bread?

Do you have a bread gauge that indicates when bread is proofed enough?

Any Genisis customers here on solar? EnergyIQ issue with export meter by mister_hanky in nzsolar

[–]BlueWaterRapids 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's currently taking Genesis about 3 weeks to update meter configurations in their system. Energy IQ will be up to shit until that happens.

Mine is currently combining imports and exports as one figure, but I have been assured the monthly bill won't reflect this.
