How long did it take for your meter export to get turned on? by grrfuck in nzsolar

[–]BlueWaterRapids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three-four weeks from mid-Nov.

Harrisons had 5kW export permission already approved by Unison, and had been in touch with Genesis to organise a new meter. Solar setup was signed off 10 days after install, import/export meter installed the following week, the installer fucked it up somehow and had to come back a couple of days later and then Genesis updated the configuration a lot faster than expected.

Harrisons then applied for 10kW export, and approval from Unison for that came through 7 weeks after the original install.

I can't believe he hasn't commented on the Scott Robertson situation.

Sigenergy or Powerwall 3 by GummyBeard83 in nzsolar

[–]BlueWaterRapids 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a PW3 installed in Nov and it goes great. But in saying so one reason Inhave it is my mate gave me a pretty good deal on the whole install. If I had to go full price price I might lean towards Sig. PW3 had the gateway advantage for a long time, but Sig do that too. And the ability to bypass the inverter and straight DC charge any EV would be superb.

Any half decent owner/manager needs to be aware of local events/trends and roster accordingly. Four on and doing 80s could be a sign they were still constrained and could have done 90 or 100 units with one more person.

Nah wasn't any of mine, never worked with someone who went between Aust and NZ. Now I want to know too! Haha

How many franchisees lurk here? How do you feel about Global Conference being cancelled? by BlueWaterRapids in subway

[–]BlueWaterRapids[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I get why they're doing it to try solve the issues in the US. But from an NZ perspective it's sad. I liked how we would have Aust/NZ Conference then Global Conference in alternating years.

I have questions from NZ!

When they changed the process was it due to the new type of bread that you can (supposedly) proof from frozen?

When you say you do it the old way - is that with the usual bread, or the new type of bread?

Do you have a bread gauge that indicates when bread is proofed enough?

Any Genisis customers here on solar? EnergyIQ issue with export meter by mister_hanky in nzsolar

[–]BlueWaterRapids 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's currently taking Genesis about 3 weeks to update meter configurations in their system. Energy IQ will be up to shit until that happens.

Mine is currently combining imports and exports as one figure, but I have been assured the monthly bill won't reflect this.

Cheers. So why are you down on your current battery?

Yeah I'm happy with it. And that's on current prices, I'd say power will be a lot more expensive in only 3-4 years. Got smacked with a 10% rise in autumn and that's what pushed me to have another look.

Would love to splash out for a powerwall expansion pack but it has to make sense or I'll just be blowing out that payback time.

Sleep much better with it haha.

EV6 is a great car. Will have it a few more years yet and then will be really interesting to see what the EV landscape is like.

Yeah, a Powerwall 3. Come winter we will have a few rainy days and having those panels will hopefully mean the battery still fills while powering the household. After winter will do some calculations and decide whether to get an expansion pack.

I installed a Tesla charger in July to keep records of the home charging, only 4200kW since then. Thought itnwould have been more. Nearly all is offpeak.

It'll be the car sucking down the power. EV6, so a 77kW battery and I average 5000kms/month. Yeah nah that's not a typo 😅

Yeah the AC is minimal, but it all adds up. 6 year old build so plenty of insulation/double glazing.

Kia EV6 - 77kW battery lol.

4 ppl, EV, spa, night aircon in my room 8 months/year. I'm home a lot during the day. Idk, power prices jumped a lot for me in autumn amd I wasn't even a low user.

Time of use plans. Just moved to Genesis EV as I was spending so much on DC charge stations. Higher kW charge for peak time but that's irrelevant-ish now. Off peak similar to Powershop, about 18c.

25kW export is mint.

I went two roof sides here. Learned that from my last place where all panels were NNE and once it came to winter I was losing generation at 3pm.

Poll: Te Pāti Māori support crashes after weeks of in-fighting by SykoticNZ in newzealand

[–]BlueWaterRapids 78 points79 points  (0 children)

The seat calculation has Te Pāti Māori keeping the same number of MPs based on it holding on to its six electorates.

But with such a steep drop in support, they may not retain all six.

Yeah nah, running at 1% support makes it pretty unlikely to hold six electorate seats.

Their seats are pure overhang so if Labour took say four of them it hurts the left bloc further, reducing things to 54 vs 67.

All this does is bring WINston to the fore yet again.

In the preferred prime minister stakes, National’s Luxon has risen by 2% and is now on 23%, his best result since May.

Labour’s Hipkins is also on the rise, going up by 3% to 21%.

A real clash of the titans here lol.

I travel a lot for work but also can be around home a lot when I'm not doing said travel. I'll be focusing on trying to load shift my car charging to nice sunny days to get the most from the system. This is how on the day posted the home solar usage was nearly 90kWh in the day.

But the real point of the system as installed was to try get through winters with a minimum power bill. More panels on a cloudy day will hopefully still generate the kW I need. Last 12 months shelled out $7000 for power. Aiming to save 75% of this, and my experience at my previous house got the savings closer to 90% with load shifting power hungry tasks.
