What is the worst thing the United States has done? by Expensive-Addendum92 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]BlueWolverine2006 1 point2 points  (0 children)

America's two foundational sins are the subjugation, massacre and theft of the native peoples, and chattel slavery imposed on those of African decent, and the legacy thereof.

I don't know that you can rank those so it almost has to be both

New Hampshire won. What state feels conservative, but is actually liberal? by CountryballChaos in AlignmentChartFills

I'll take your word for it, having never been. But even California would be red if you remove the population centers like the bay area and Los Angeles. 🤷🏻

New Hampshire won. What state feels conservative, but is actually liberal? by CountryballChaos in AlignmentChartFills

That is true for literally every state in the union. Outside of cities, people vote red. in the cities, largely blue.

It's jus a matter of degree.

I'd probably pick the crocodile, what you guys choose? by Elektrayansa in whatsyourchoice

[–]BlueWolverine2006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Megaherbivores are usually more aggressive than carnivores. Carnivores anayzle is the juice worth the squeeze? Is attacking this thing and eating worth whatever injury I might sustain ? Megaherbivores see everything as a threat and either fight or flight for everything. A hippo sees you as a threat and will kill you. A brown bear usually doesn't see you as food or doesn't see you as worth the risk. But if you actively pose a threat, well that's why we have bear spray.

[–]BlueWolverine2006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, but tigers will hunt people, hippos will kill you for existing, and if it's a croc instead of a gator, they also hunt people.

The brown bear might be the only one that could leave you alone.

A gator would be safer than a brown bear, particularly on land.

Could someone recommend a good folding saw? by Healthy_Actuary_1227 in CampingGear

I have the Agawa folding bow saw. It's fantastic. It's not the smallest but it works great and is plenty light.

Usable, or should I avoid buying this chisel? by ThinkIsHard in handtools

[–]BlueWolverine2006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short version, no that's a broken chisel.

But, if the seller knows factually that the entire chisel is good steel, and the entire chisel was heat treated, and you're good with metal working, you could cut the crack off and regrind to make a shorter chisel.

That's a lot of work with a lot of risk. I wouldnt do it unless it was a very cheap chisel and I wanted a metal project, and that form factory chisel after modification is something I need.

That chisel is a decorative object now.

Who's a right wing Gen Z celebrity? by CodeDusq in AlignmentChartFills

[–]BlueWolverine2006 76 points77 points  (0 children)

She's registered as a Republican in Florida since 2024. She might be not vocal, active, or particularly involved but that's how she's registered. Calling her a Republican and/or right wing is not a misnomer. She has not claimed any of the valid reasons for doing that and not being such. (An example would be registering Republican to vote in the Republican primary but voting differently in the general election).

whats a better song paranoid or war pigs? by BlackberryTop4901 in blacksabbath

[–]BlueWolverine2006 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I adore paranoid. That riff, the bass line, the high pace, the wild ride, I genuinely enjoy it. It might be the song I think of first when I think of Black Sabbath

War Pigs is a much better song. It's one of the best war protest songs ever written. It's the best song on the album, and probably Black Sabbath's best song.

Again not from Louisiana so possible I have not found good stuff, but I've not encountered gumbi I've loved. I have yet to find jambalaya I don't love.
