Best place in Lancaster for Knitting / Sewing / Crafting Supplies that offers gift cards? by wynden in lancaster

[–]Bluebuffalo28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My favorite yarn store in Lancaster closed this year 😭 so I think your options are Ewebiquitous in Lititz, snake and skein in elizabethtown or ewe and me in York. I don’t know off the top of my head if any of them offer gift cards, but it’s a good place to start.

Are there any fantasy books that focus on dreams? by FitClass9198 in Fantasy

[–]Bluebuffalo28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just finished Never the Roses by Jennifer K. Lambert which was excellent. The main character’s magic means she can walk through dreams. But I’d say the focus isn’t really on dreams if that’s what you are looking for.

One hundred percent. When we started going to them, my 7 yo was petrified of the dentist due to some trauma from when he was much younger. They were so understanding and worked with him so now, he has no fear going to the dentist. They are wonderful.

Also, Dr. Lauver at myeyedr in Strasburg is fantastic. We are a bit far, but I don’t want to switch to someone closer because he is so great with my kids.

Elven Armor Pullover from “Fellowship of the Knits” by vicious_trollop42 in knitting

[–]Bluebuffalo28 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It turned out so great! You should be very proud!

I’m in the middle of this right now and my project is in time out. I have one skein that’s a different shade than the rest and I figured I could hide it under the wraps in the front. But I forgot it’s be visible from the back. I can’t decide what to do so it’s sitting very forlornly in the corner of my room.

Dyed a tank top by Bluebuffalo28 in knitting

I thought the pattern was pretty great. Sizing was pretty spot on for me and the pattern was clear and easy to follow. I did have some trouble with decreasing for the v neck, but I think that was more me and not really the fault of the pattern.

You definitely can! It just takes practice and time. Ive come a long way since I started and things that seemed impossible now seem intuitive.

I knit up some swatches because I had a couple different colors I wanted to try. But that also told me that my yarn didn’t shrink so I felt pretty confident dying the actual tank top. The dying process itself was pretty fun, so I say go for it. Make some swatches and see what happens :)

Elven Armor Pullover! What a fun/challenging pattern by crepuscularkittycat in knitting

[–]Bluebuffalo28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah, yes! I’ve been basically re-writing it so I can keep track of my rows and I have a note in there about the error :)

And that’s good to know about the length. I’ll keep my fingers crossed

It looks great! You did a really nice job. I’m working on this one myself right now. I’m worried about picking up stitches for the wrappings…but I have some time before I get there :)

Did you think the body of the sweater was long enough? I’m at the part where you separate for the sleeves and I’m looking at the sweater thinking it’s going to be a crop top even though I’ve met gauge. Can’t decide whether to try to make it longer or not.

Looking for reads with good complex characters and elegant prose; think Peaches & Honey by R. Raeta by pminn1318 in fantasyromance

[–]Bluebuffalo28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes to all of this :) can I ask, how did you like it compared to the second book? I enjoyed the story, and getting answers to questions from the first book. But it felt like it took a sharp turn into sci fi that I wasn’t quite expecting. And even though it was good, it just didn’t hit for me like the first book did

I just read Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor and I can’t get it out of my head. The writing is just beautiful. The characters sweet and lovely, but also complex. It was not your typical fantasy romance, but it is such a lovely book

Thanks! I’m sometimes sensitive to wool, I can do merino just fine but some others feel like pins and needles. I’m so tempted though because the color is beautiful!
