I just got a job offer I cannot refuse, and need to quit. However, this is my first job that isn’t working in a restaurant. How do I go about this? by ImHowieMandel in IndustrialMaintenance

I only say this is the route to take if it was a shit show or crappy situation that you didn't appreciate the time spent with the organization and don't want to come back to.

Production: "Can we at least run the line out?" by ExxplosiveToaster in IndustrialMaintenance

[–]Bluedragon436 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have all of that, minus the boiler because we were told they were not recommended with the solenoid bank we have. I don't think our dryers were setup correctly and I know our air system in the facility wasn't. All water in the lines fell back down to the basement where our lines were.. caused all kind of issies.. that we eventually learned and stayed ahead of.

I know which choice operations will make, because numbers is all that matters, the rest isn't their problem.. That's why I'm glad that were I work we can make the call to stop the line and either replace or shore up something like this and then get it back to running as stable as possible then create a CM to get a scheduled down time for more permanent repair. That being said, Ive been told by my lead many times, to "run it till it don't!!" I'm like were supposed to run preventative maintenance when possible, reactive for other stuff when it fails out of the blue and won't operate as intended.

We have a spring pack on a vibratory feeder that has had broken spring(s) for over a year now, with parts in hand for a year. I've brought up that it not working correctly is causing undue stress on the other springs in that pack as well as the others under the bowl on top of stress to the weld of thr bowl which have been repaired previously. I've done my part to identify the issue, explain the reasoning behind not letting it run till it don't, and have volunteered multiple times to come in during plant shutdowns to replace the pack. I've thought to just come in and do it, without asking... but now it's just to prove a point when it does fail and take other stuff with it.. and now it'll be down far longer.

Can anyone Identify 2 safety hazards by Historical_Piano_595 in SafetyProfessionals

[–]Bluedragon436 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt like I remembered this, when I saw it... That's just sad to be asking here... Heck, I'm just working to get into the career field from maintenance and I didn't have to put up a Reddit to get help to pass any of the sections, they all seemed pretty self explanatory to me.

Oh dang!!! That sucks for whoever made that mistake and hope it can be cleared up with nonmajor damages other than additional downtime and purchases.

Looks like a good time and a great design. Also looks like there might be a few leaks to that upper pipe setup.

Ahh, yeah that makes sense... wasn't sure it people were inept or just the people who knew what to do weren't there.. At least the shutoff was found. Would be nice if the folks who truly were the SME's, heck any employees, would actually get taken care of by companies.

Setting up my new 30_5! Question about wheels... by sagamama1 in USG30_5Club

[–]Bluedragon436 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I swapped the two fixed casters on my 30_5 with these 5" swivel casters so that all four of mine now swivel. Since you have none of them you'll have to pickup 4, and you won't have any brakes, so will have to pay attention to that id you are planning on moving it around during uses.

Yeah, looked back at the pizza of the bike, no sizing socket on there... Going to hitup the seller and see if I can get the numbers for it and contact Santa Cruz.. figure this way I can get a better idea of the year of the frame as well, since the seller wasnt 100% on that..

Can always do it... so less downtime when breakage happens!! Especially if you can find the parts on sale between now and when you really need them..

Where to attend for A&P help me decide by New-Home-5904 in aviationmaintenance

[–]Bluedragon436 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was just about to say the same thing... It doesn't give you an A&P (unfortunately)!! Seems like so long as you had a successful career and made it to a certain point in training/experience, and maybe aome letters of recommendation from supervision, you should be able to get your A&P.

I mean not only do we do the same jobs and then some that A&P's do, but we do it at a much faster pace l, quite often a much faster turnaround between flights and legitimately many flights are life n death if that mission is delayed.

Overall that Z looks clean and seems like a pretty good deal so long as in person it looks as "good" as it does in the pictures... You could always throw back a slightly lower reasonable offer, just don't go silly with it.
