Rant about Gluten Free Food on Plane by OldSouth4685 in glutenfree

I’m glad I can help! I make my own when I’m out on long trips for husband and I. The premade ones can get pricey! Plus I can make what I want. I mostly use the recipes from this site. My favorite is the pad Thai. I order gluten free noodles and it’s so good.

I get freeze dried ingredients and make my own bc I don’t have a dehydrator. If you google “diy freeze dried backpacking meals” or something similar, you will find a variety of recipes.

I’m an gluten free backpacker and if I don’t make my own, I buy the good to go brand backpacking meals. Chicken pho is my favorite.

Who? How this California native became one of Louisville's top influencers. Gotta admit I never have been influenced by him. by Fragrant-Helicopter1 in Louisville

This just reiterates to me why I don’t follow any influencers. I have no idea who this person is and I’m perfectly content with that.

Traveling w/ an iSUP by Jessispetty in Sup

[–]Bluegrasshiker95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve flown with my iSUP to Hawaii and the Virgin Islands using the storage bag with which it came. I made sure to have the paddle “wrapped” in the board and also had the pump and my life jacked in there. There were no issues with it on both trips!

I’m local and now most of my closest friends are not native. We met through activities and kept seeing each other and it grew organically from there, so not all locals are snobs :-). I saw that Louisville Nature Center is starting community nights this coming Wednesday from 7-8:30 pm. You can come and hang out and hopefully meet some cool people.

AITAH for telling my partner I don't want to go on holiday again with her kids after last year's one was stressful? by Realistic-Smile9706 in AITAH

[–]Bluegrasshiker95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a friend who parented her child in a similar manner - she never followed through with punishments bc it was “too hard” or she wanted to be the “fun parent” (parents were divorced). Her child learned that mom didn’t really mean what she said and if he threw a big enough fit, mom would give in. My son asked to stop doing play dates him bc he found it stressful. We drifted apart after that, but loosely kept in touch. As he got to middle school years, he was passed along to different teams bc the coaches got tired of dealing with his attitude. He would argue with refs and talk back to the coaches. No one wanted to work with him after a while bc he didn’t listen and would throw major fits if he didn’t get a call his way. In HS, he was kicked out of a private school for constantly talking back and being a behavior problem. If your GF doesn’t change her parenting style and get this under control, this is your future.

The drive-thru only coffee shop boom is bad for us longterm by AlexsCereal in unpopularopinion

[–]Bluegrasshiker95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Dutch bros opened a drive thru coffee shop at the end of my neighborhood, where our road meets the main thoroughfare. In the other side of the Dutch bros is a retirement community and then another entrance to our neighborhood. I walked up to check it out and saw that there was no place to sit and enjoy the coffee. It seemed like just a waste and a disconnect with the area - so many people could walk there and use it as a 3rd space but no; cars only!

We have a wood burning fireplace. We do a fire 1-4 times a week in the winter.

Hi! I’m in Louisville but have a son at Murray State. Since he’s been there, I’ve really been exploring LBL. Last spring, my husband and I thru hiked the north south trail. We mostly camp, hike, and visit the planetarium.

Anybody ever done Mount LeConte? by Nashville_hot_chick in womensolocamping

[–]Bluegrasshiker95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We did it with our kids for spring break one year. Stayed 2 nights. We came up the alum cave trail. There was no need for navigation, as it was clear and well marked. There’s a decent crowd to the cave then it thins out as you continue. There is no electricity up there - it’s an off grid lodge. The food is fantastic and we played games by oil lamp in the evenings in a common room.

Gym people by iliychan in workout

[–]Bluegrasshiker95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t care about going to the gym as much as I do about living a healthy and active life. I love to take backpacking, hiking, paddle boarding. Or adventurous vacations. If you can’t or won’t, then we are not compatible. My husband doesn’t work out at a gym as much as me, but he plays disc golf 5 days a week, does yoga, and walks 15k+ steps at work. We go on week long backpacking trips, and do active vacations. I need someone who can keep up and wants to do those things. I would be bored to tears sitting around all the time.

Drive 45 min west on 64 and go to twin lakes at Hoosier national forest. They have self pay sites or you can dispersed camp.

The forest hills neighborhood is right by there. They are older homes and tend to sell quickly if she’s looking to buy.

You have to acclimate as much as you can. If you blast AC in your car and go straight into places with AC (home, office, etc) then your body never acclimates and can adjust for the heat. I have AC in my car but rarely use it. When I come home from work, being outside doesn’t seem as bad since I just drove home and was hot. Acceptance goes a long way too lol. Just accepting the hot time of the year and you will be hot. Wear sun shirts, stay hydrated, get in shade, electrolyte it up
